Strength:

Great price and great reviews.

Weakness:

Unknown at this point

Just bought these KYB's and read the posts. Obviously, with the warranty specifying 1.5" or less drop is a condition, why would anyone expect stellar performance otherwise. After I install them, I will post again. For now, I like what I read.

Strength:

Good ride quality and perfect dampening

Weakness:

None that I've found

I have GR-2 struts and shocks paired with progress lowering springs and want to say it is one of the most neutral street cars(it like when you hit the setup right in a race car)I have ever been in now I need to get power adders to push this setup to its true potential with how much grip I have. The GR-2 has great ride quality despite being right above the tire.

These KYB GR-2s complimented my SKUNK2 coilovers well...They helped mostly to smooth out the ride and the ride height of my car...

Strength:

Smooth ride on the streets and highways, not too expensive

Weakness:

Would not recommend for off road.

My shocks went out me a few weeks ago and ordered KYB after reading reviews. I did not want to spend a lot of money on them. I purchased the GR2 Front struts and the GR2 Rear Shocks. Very Smooth Ride, barely feel railroad tracks, went off road, and it does a fair job, its no Ranchos when it comes off road, but then again its not $200 each! The back shocks were very easy to put on, you must use air pressured wrench to get the screws out. The fronts were a pain to take out, took me about 2 and a half hours, but got the job done.

Strength:

Great ride quality, no more bottoming out from lowering springs.

Weakness:

None really.

So far I like my ride. I have eibach lowering springs and front and rear GR-2 struts. My ride quality has improved alot since I got rid of my "shot" struts I had for the longest time. I definently think that if you use springs that lower your car more than 1.5"inches then, you might be in for a rough ride.

I have these paired with some H&R sport springs and I love the ride. It has a sport feel and sometimes harsh(b/c of the 19's), but for my daily driver it's perfect. If you have a honda, make sure to get a front and rear camber kit as well....

Rides smooth at high speeds. Takes corners nice. And I like how my ride stays flat when i stop hard. Liftime Warranty.

Weakness:

none so far. i'm curious to see how long they last.

These are better than stock, nice ride for my SUV haven't off roaded yet but can't wait. Handles the street nice though, no complaints. I run over curbs on other little obsticles sometimes and feels soft. I like these for a higher ride rather than a dropped one.
My opion.

Reliable, Sporty, Good Price

Weakness:

I have been using the GR-2's for over a year with Eibach springs on my 99' Cougar. A lot of reviews on here are just retarded. People complain about the struts are blowing when using coilovers. The GR-2's are supposed to be used with no more than a 1.5 or so inch drop. They are not shortened and will hit bump stops with excessive lowering. A lot of people say they are too bouncy with high spring rates. Well no duh, they are street struts made for street springs and street driving. I am no race car driver but know my stuff pretty well. My car has polyurethane bushings, Eibach springs, GR-2's and good tires and it handles great. I consider it very good for a street car. The struts are very reliable if used on the right application. They are not too bumpy. If you are buying cheap lowering springs, its the springs, NOT THE STRUTS, making the car ride like crap. Go for the GR-'2's if you are wanting good street characteristics. If you want more go for Koni. For the price you can't beat the Gr-2's!

Model Reviewed: Toyota Camry

Strength:

Better suspension control without harshness. Relatively low cost. Excellent value overall.

Weakness:

Can't really think of any.

I've had my '03 Camry LE (4-cylinder/5-speed manual) for nearly three years. Immediately after buying it, I began making modifications to improve the handling. In chronological order, these have been as follows: 17" wheels with 215/50-17 tires, front strut brace from the Camry SE model, TRD lowering springs, and thicker sway bars (also from the SE model). All of these modifications added up to vastly improve the car's handling, but I knew that I needed upgraded shocks as the stiffer TRD springs were definitely under-damped with the OE "granny" shocks. My first choices were Koni, Bilstein or Boge, but none of these companies make shocks for the Camry. I then thought about buying the Camry SE-spec shocks from Toyota, but these were quite expensive. About six months ago, I heard about the KYB GR-2 shocks and decided to try them. I purchased them from shox.com for just under $400.00. After having them installed by the Toyota dealer, I could immediately tell the difference. The KYBs are nearly perfect, firmer and better-controlled without being at all harsh. They work extremely well in conjunction with the TRD springs and have truly been the "icing on the cake" of all my suspension modifications. My Camry truly has "sports sedan" handling at this point. I would highly recommend the GR-2s to anyone who is looking to upgrade their OEM struts but doesn't want too stiff of a ride and/or to spend an arm and a leg.
