Strength:

quality car. worth the money

Weakness:

dealer and customer support has to improve

spacious, powerful and durable. Dealers need to keep some standard. Took the car to Ed Napletons Acura For my Navigation Pin. They said the navigation has to be replaced and it would cost me $3500. I took it to another dealer and he fixed it. It was the wrong pin. When i called back Ed Napleton They said it is not their problem. so if i Spent 3500 replacing the navi it would have been a waste of money. so acura should keep some standards who their dealers are. Ed napleton couldnt find my key either. I had to drive a loaner car .service is very bad.

Strength:

Ride, acceleration, interior fit&finish.

Weakness:

Transmission; interference with radio if cell phone is nearby; moonroof rattle after only 10,000 miles.

Interesting. I have been very pleased with this car overall. I have about 36,000 miles on it and over the past 2 weeks, the transmission began to go out - up-and down-shifting awkwardly without warning. Took it in, and the dealer explained that Acura is having problems with about 1.2% of these cars transmissions. They didn't even "open it up" - just said they would replace the trannie and give it back to me. Found this review site after trying to see if there was a recall notice I didn't know about -- and found interesting and similar results by others, but no recall? Not sure what to do, have been treated well by dealer so far. Don't know if I should be concerned that it could happpen again or not. These reviews cause me pause....otherwise, it has been a great car.

Strength:

Solid performance - great family car!

Weakness:

Minor squeaks and rattles - rotors warped prematurely (taken care of under warranty). Transmission failure at 54,000 miles

Great Car Initially - Awesome Dealer with a top flight service department. Transmission just went out with typical symptoms and we'll wait and see how it is dealt with. After our dealer experience at Riverside Acura we were planning on buying a second acura in the next year (and maybe even a third) but this transmission problem has given us serious pause. I'm concerned that Honda has not recalled cars with such a pervasive problem - serious loss of credibility here! Before I buy another one I need to be sure Honda will stand behind the product. I have sworn never to buy another product from one of the Big 3 US automakers - after this I believe I will only buy a car that has not been manufactured or assembles in the US - Period!!

Engine.

Weakness:

Transmission, rattles and squeaks that refuse to go away, harsh ride, road noise, paint chips easily. DO NOT BUY THIS CAR.

WOW. I had no idea there are so many other owners out here with defective trannies. I will NEVER buy another Acura again. My transmission crapped out on me when I was on a busy street during rush hour!!!! Stranded for 40 minutes until the tow truck arrived. 9,000 miles on my TLS. It's been a love hate relationship with car when I owned it. Amazing engine, but too many other problems. Rattles and squeaks EVERYWHERE, thin paint, cheap interior ....and of course the transmission. In all fairness though, the transmission while it lasted was awesome. But whats the point if you're paranoid everytime you're behind the wheel. Not knowing when the trannies going to suddenly upshift. Some owner's expereinces are downright nightmarish, shifting into second gear on the freeway at 80 mph. Holy cow. This is a mega lawsuit waiting to happen. Its only a matter of time.

transmission problems..I've faced to loose money due to horrible Acura quality.

Get me out of this car! I have two young children. Last week as approaching the 605N from the 5 coming home from work, my tires locked up out of no where. All the cars behind me swerved going everywhere to advoid me. I had no idea what was going on, I just tried to control the car, and get to the side. I called my husband from my cell phone and he sent a tow truck. Later we heard this is a common problem. I didn't pay $33,000 to get into a brand-new car with problems. Once this car gets back from the dealer I'm going straight down to get my await Mercedes!

Strength:

Engine is a screamer. Manual shifter is fun! fun! fun! Looks great is sleek (I like the old thunderbird).

Weakness:

Too many to list! Transmission slipping out of gear. Squeaks all over. Paint is very sensitive, the slightest rub will leave its mark. Not what I expected from an Acura, very disappointed.

I really have enjoyed the drivability of this car but the automobile has a great many flaws. I thought the transmission dying and shifting to neutral was just my imagination until I read these reviews today. Mine tends to act up more when it is windy and into a headwind. (The tranny shifted out of gear three times over two miles). I am also having squeaking and rattling problems with the dash and doors, the tray above the radio is stuck. The perforated leather has "Hair" (leather backing) poking through the perforations. The cell phone interference with the radio is a hassle, I just have to set the radio on the passenger seat.

Model Reviewed: 3.2 TL w/Navi

Strength:

Good acceleration, solid feel, 6 disc in-dash CD changer, nice styling, wide windshield, super bright xenon lights, memory positiion heated seats and mirrors, and of course the navigation system.

Weakness:

almost non exsistant leg room in the rear, seats are leather and VYNIL(cheap!) and should be a little wider, bose system could use tweeters up front and two subs in the rear instead of one, lacks telescoping steering column, radio control on steering wheel is quite cheap and should offer more control over the system like being able to change between the radio,cd,and tape deck, no fold down split rear seats, The problem I had with the navi is that when I was on the East Coast there was quite a few areas where the roads did not appear on the navi's map guide. I don't know if it's just because I bought the car on the West Coast or what? I was in Atlanta driving on a main road, but the map showed me driving in the middle of no where. There may be an East Coast version with more streets ???

This is my second Honda product. This car has not really given me any major problems like some of these reviews I have read. The Navi works very well...in California. I like to travel. I have traveled across country to North Carolina and back. I have had my TL for 11 mos now and already racked up over 26,800 mi.The bose system sounds good, but could sound better. My TL still rides good on the 19x8 inch rims I put on it. The one problem I can think of mechanically is that I have a slight pull to the right and that was there before the aftermarket wheel package. I took it to the dealer with the original wheels and tires. They aligned it under warranty. They said that the problem was corrected, but to date there is still a slight pull to the right. I was told that it was torque steer causing that. Overall for the price the car is not bad at all just a few minor things.

TRANMISSION!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I purchased my new Acura 3.2 TL w/Navigational system from Miami Acura in Oct. 2000. For the first year and a half, the car ran like a dream. I was very happy with it, until the dreaded Transmission problem occurred. I have just finished having it towed in for a second time to fix my Transmission. The first time they replaced the transmission, we'll see what happens with the second time. The only redeeming value this car has is the Navigational system, but if the car doesn't run, what's the point. It is a true gamble every time you get in this car and drive. Who knows the next time the tranny will go ... hopefully it won't be on the highway going 70!!!! Stay Away from this car until Acura gets their act together and does a true recall on transmissions!!! Until then ... I will NEVER buy another Acura!!!!!

to many too list. STAY AWAY FROM THIS CAR. THE TRANNY WILL BRAKE DOWN AT ANY GIVEN TIME. That is not acceptable for a LUXURY car
