decent price - thats about it
Weakness:
This car should not be considered luxury. Transmition failure rate is just too high. Basically a high priced honda accord. Poor weigh distribution. Good price, but the material in the car reflects the low cost. Not really a great bang for the buck Similar Products Used: Infiniti G35 - I just bought a G35 and gave the tls to my wife. If you drove a G35 you will NOT buy a acura. |

Great car otherwise
Weakness:
Transmission............... I to have had some massive transmission problems as stated in the above articals. I also had my transmission fail (twice)at 65 to 70 mph on the 5 freeway, my only luck was that the cars/trucks behind me were able to avoid hitting me. Cerritos Acura removed and replaced the transmission (no questions asked) back around mid. July. Now 1000 miles later and again the same problem. No warning just alittle slipping and higher revs from the stop, than the ESC light, Check Engine light and also the 5th gear light started to blink. This all happened within one or two minutes as I entered the freeway. Just as soon I hit the passing gear all HELL broke loose. The car is back at Cerritos Acura for third new transmission. This transmission design must be addressed before anyone dies. I'm not one to complain about much but this car scares me and my love ones. WE NEED HELP |

power, heated mirrors and seats, xenon headlights are so bright, carefull not to burn the back of the car in front of you :)
Weakness:
styling, no auto headlights, Very nice car with lots of toys. Gives a very smooth ride, and has lots of power! interior is nice but could use a update, with rounder vents and gadgets. the exterior styling needs a rounder roof with higher lines to bring this car into the future and break it away from a side profile that looks similar to a 1992 thunderbird. Oh yea, get rid of the chrome door handles Similar Products Used: traded in a 2000 grand prix |

Weakness:
TRANSMISSION!!!!, Bakes (premature wear), Road Noise, Wind Nois, Tire Road noise after 10k, Sunroof Noise (no wind deflector), Interior squeaks and rattles. Great car for the money! Lots of features come standard and I would recommend opting for the Navigational System which is currently the best in the market. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND YOU BUY THIS CAR UNLESS ACURA CORRECTS THE TRANSMISSION FAILURES WITH A RECALL. CURRENTLY FAILURES HAVE BEEN REPORTED FOR 2000-2003 TL-P AND TL TYPE S MODELS. BUY A MERCEDES C CLASS. |

Don't outweigh the "Weaknesses" by a long shot.
Weakness:
Dealership tried to "weazle" out of body repairs from accident caused by faulty transmission. My 9 month old '02 3.2TL's transmission needed TOTAL replacement at 20,000 miles. Brake pads and Rotors were also found to be faulty at time of repair (Cerritos Acura would only "re-grind" rotors vs. replacing them with new ones). Transmission failed on me and caused me to crash vehicle. I immediately delivered vehicle to Cerritos Acura. While en-route via freeway to Cerritos Acura for repairs, the transmission would slip out of gear and redline. Worse yet, it also dropped into "park" several times while doing 55mph. This was without a doubt my most terrifying experience in a vehicle...was nearly rear-ended twice on freeway while trying to get to Cerritos Acura for repairs. Reported incident to NHTSA and hope other owners follow suit. Many similar experiences painted all over internet, including NHTSA's website. Similar Products Used: Uh, no. |

Strength:
Good power and comfort. Navigation system is great! Would go for the the type-s next time.
Weakness:
Transmission problems. I've been pleased with the car, however at about 2 years and 4 months and 50,000 miles the transmission started acting up. I took it in to the Acura Dealer at 57,000 miles and they told me that the transmission needed to be replaced. I was over warantee but the dealer graciously said they would fix it for no cost. Thank God! That would have been a $4,000 job. I would not expect something like this from Acura. I have heard from others that they have had similar problems. I would reccomend purchasing the extended waranty for peace of mind. I've always been a Honda and Acura consumer and find this problem very suprising. Like I said I've enjoyed all aspects of the car except for my current transmission problem. |

Over all the car has been flawless until the transmission went. The only work required besides the scheduled maintenance was a front end brake job.I drive mainly commute miles with very little wear and tear. The car rides extremely well.My last set of tires ( the original set) had 80K on them before replacement and they still had plenty of tread.
Weakness:
The car was out of warranty, but the dealer mentioned some ongoing trouble with transmisions in this model and has asked for assistance from Honda. The repair expense is going to be major and I am still waitng for the outcome. The main concern is the suddeness of the breakdown and lack of warning. Very dangerous. My 2 year old Acura CL recently had the transmiaaion experience a total meltdown..with no warning. The TCS light suddenly came on, along with the check engine light. Within 5 miles the tranny would not stay in any gear and the car was incapacitated on a busy stretch of highway, out of cell phone range, and with no pull outs. |

Seats could be better(if your tall). Paint scratches easily. Had to get the disks done after 20,000 km (under warranty, but doesn't look good for the future). I've had the car for a year now. Still fun to drive, still fast, no serious problem. Besides windshield rubber seal getting unglued on a few small spot, the only gripe I have is about the winter tires. They just don't exist in that size and I had to get smaller, narrower ones, which of course did not fit on the mags. No big deal (for someone who use to drive a Volvo!), I still really like the car. Acura 3.2 TL
Strength:
Great build quality, xenon headlights are fantastic, Acura smoothness, quietness, handling, and probably reliability.
Weakness:
Should have larger (not wider tires) Easily the best value in an entry level luxo sedan. This is my third Acura (this is my seventh Honda built car) and as usual, it is nearly perfect. If it is like the others it will be trouble free. Some other TL owners have complained of rattles in the interior. I found two, one was the cable for the trunk release that you reach thru the trunk pass thru and the other was merely my wire-rimmed glasses in the headliner holder. Otherwise not problems and it got 29 mph on its first fill-up. I can't understand the complaints about the Bose music system. It may not play your hip-hop and rap loud enough to annoy the other drivers but it is the best at playing real music! Others have complained that there is leatherette on some seat areas - check almost any other car with leather (even the real big bucks models) and you will find that its only the seating areas that are genuine leather.
