Can't you get the neckrest to HUG the neck? I'd like more than just outside temp for a computer! Bose is a Bose, mediocre. Disks eject somewhat cheesily I purchased this 2002 Acura TL in March 2001. I'm very happy with the purchase, performance and the response from the dealership. I got the Standard getup with the Navigation System. I also have a performance chip. Like many of the reviews, my tranny went out after about 6 months. The dealer took the car in and told us it could be 2 months for a new one. We rented an I35, which was covered by them. Performance has been good, and outside of the aforementioned issues, there have been no problems. The Navi is accurate, tires are strong, and I'm getting @ 5.9 0-60. (6.2 before chip) The Auto is so good, after about 2 months it seemed to do very little to manually shift. The power is the same as my Mustang GT, but it sounds a bit weaker than the Mustang. 2nd Gear, however kicks in hard and lasts until 70 or so. Similar Products Used: Infiniti i35 Q45 |

Lots of luxury for a good price
Weakness:
Transmission trouble Fragile paint I really do love my 2001 3.2TL. I was just totally disappointed when my transmission failed after only a 1.5 years of driving!!! After doing alot of research I found out that this is a regular occurance with many of the CL's and TL's of that year. Now, I have a very sour opinion of Acura...which could easily be remedied if they would own up to the problem, fix it and do a recall. But, do you think they are doing that? Nope. I guess they are waiting for people to start dying from automobile accidents after their transmission failed. Thankfully, I was going about 50 mph when mine failed and the car behind me was a safe distance away, because when your wheels suddenly lock up at 50 mph, you're giving the car behind you an open invitation to come right thru your trunk. For now they are replacing my transmission with a new one (of course with the same defect) so my concern is that the warranty will run out and my transmission will fail again!! I sure can't afford to replace my transmission and I shouldn't have to. All those who have had transmission problems or any problems, log onto www.nhtsa.dot.gov/hotline and submit a complaint to the Auto Saftey Hotline. Maybe once alot of people complain to NHTSA, Acura may be forced to fix the transmission...the other alternative is to take out a class action against the manufacturer... |

Strength:
Pretty much loaded with options: butt toasters, nav system, anti slip, tiptronic, Xenon HID headlights, sunroof, dual exhaust, leather seats etc etc etc - willing engine - looks good
Weakness:
- soft suspension that leans terribly during cornering (heck, my new LS 430 with standard suspension is much more stable) - suffer interior and trunk space - quality declines rapidly as the car gain mileage. A friend of mine commented that my car sounds as if it was built during the 50's or 60's. That was pretty embarassing :( At the time I bought the car, it was the bang for the buck. I like the engine and transmission, but suspension system needs some work (the type-S was not available back then in '00). Bodywork is OK, pretty but not striking. However, it started to rattle quite prematurely. Similar Products Used: Swap the Acura with '02 Lexus LS 430. Now this IS a good car, although it is not cheap. |

My 1.5 year old Acura 3.2TL with 32,000 miles experienced intermittent automatic transmission problems. The car would shift into neutral between 1-2 gear and 2-3 gear. This was a dangerous situation especially when making left hand turns across traffic. When I took in for warranty work I was instructed I first had to get a transmission service before they would consider a warranty issue. $250 later the problem was not fixed. (It felt like a deductible on my insurance) I took it back in to state that it now needed to be fixed since I had jumped through their hoop. After a 5min test drive they claimed that since they could not get it to fail themselves they would not work on my car. My two choices were: One to leave the car with them and they would sporadically drive it over a few week period and hope it failed with them. Two: I could continue to drive the car with a dangerous transmission until it broke down and stranded me. I went for the leave the car option. I asked for a loaner car as described in my warranty. They stated that since they could not get the car to fail in their test drive it was not under warranty, and therefore a loaner car could not be given and they directed me to a car rental place. I chose to continue to drive the car since I could not afford a loaner car for a few weeks. The mechanic sat there with a smirk saying "were not saying you're lying about the problem, we just will not fix it until we see it is broken". The attitude expressed was that since the computer said it was not broken and our mechanic didn't experience then there is no problem, unless you prove otherwise. After further discussion they explained that transmissions were expensive to them so they didn't want to replace it unless that was the problem and therefore can't take my work that it is broken. My only choice was to keep returning to Acura, let them drive my car and hope that it would fail during their test drive. After many frustrating trips and time off work I finally got the vehicle to fail while they were in it. Once this occurred they said they could now fix the vehicle and ordered a new transmission. They didn't run any more tests. All they did was experienced the same thing I had explained to them. Why didn't they do that in the first place? Answer: We need to experience it ourselves. I'm very upset that after spending $28,000 on a brand |

Transmission, Transmission, Transmission! Honestly, reading all these reviews, I would have originally completely agreed on the performance and handling of this car. However, lately, I have had more problems than I could imagine. This car apparently has historic transmission problems due to a new logic in the triptronics system. In one word, the transmission sucks. I have another friend who has had the transmission changed out 3 times. I only have 18k miles on mine - bought brand new, and the tranmission has already failed. I don't know if anyone else has seen this, but I would be interested at all those that TL's that reach 20k miles that will inevitably have problems. Sorry Acura, Triptronics, or Steptronics is not for you! I am also hearing all kinds of rattling sounds as well. Not something you expect out of a luxury vehicle. Similar Products Used: Lexus |

Weakness:
Cheap seats. Nothing to protect interior, when the seatbelt snaps back and scratches the side. I like my Acura TL, However, lately I have started to think that they are not worth the money that you have to pay for them. Mine has only 18,000 miles on it and it already has a lot of rattles in the dash etc. Also the seats, at least in the 2000 Acura TL are made very cheap in my opinion. Mine makes a lot of noise, even after having the seat bottom brackets replaced. Also, I have somehow gotten a tear in the seat back,(not very durable) that is not covered under warrant. The Acura dealer where I bought it, wants $600. to replace the seat back. The tires that came on it, are already worn out also, even though I had an alignment done. The sunroof also had to be repaired. Once opened, it would not settle back in right and made the whole car crack. I probably will not buy another Acura, since this one did not last any longer than any other car and yet cost a lot more money and is much more expensive to maintain |

Bad low-end torque like most Honda''''s,and NO FOGLIGHTS!!!!! Bought my TL about 4 months ago, I was looking at a Prelude but for the same price I would have paid for one I got a TL. It had 18,000 mi. Love the car, my only problem is no fog lights. For 20k they could have thrown them in. Similar Products Used: Toyota Avalon- nice car but power doesn''''t compare.
