Strength:

Looks, power, handling

Weakness:

Reliability, frequency of repairs, cost of repairs

If you decide to get an Audi A6 4.2, look forward to all the new friends you'll meet at Audi service. Under warrentee, the check engine light was frequent but not serious. Now that the warantee has expired, the repair bills have gone through the roof with the latest, an estimated $3,000 worth of repairs including a PVC valve which was replaced just 9 months ago. This car drives great, but is horribly unreliable. If you're still thinking about getting one, why not get a used Ferarri instead? Its sexier, faster, cheaper to repair... Either way, you'll still need a second, reliable car. GOODBYE AUDI!

NONE!

all you BMW fans need to go away. Audi has the best cars and BMW doen NOT even come CLOSE to Audi. The A6s are about 10k cheaper, quicker, better handling, better styling, etc.

Fantastic acceleration and power. In my Opinion Audi is the greatest brand of cars on the road. never had any major problems with any of my Audi's

Weakness:

other than it suckin gas like crazy with my "heavy" foot, i have had absolutly no problems. i have taken up the offer on several occasions to drive on a le mans track nearby, and went through a tank in a day easily.

This has been a wonderful car. This car has awesome power and great handling. i have a set of 18' Mak wheels on it and michellin pilot sports tires on it. Im sure the reason why most high performance tires wear so quickly on this car is because they are not ment to be long lasting tires!! so theres your problem people who dislike their tire wear! And when your bose audio system breaks, dont turn it up so loud(there are no subs in any of the A6's and if you turn it up to loud then you'll find the speakers rattling because of blowin the speakers). on an enthusiastic note i'll leave it there saying this is just a drop dead car.

I bought a Quattro so it is like a tank in the snow. No type of bad weather can stop it. It is quite and it has a good amount of power. Very reliable, I've only had minimal repairs on it in the five years I've owned it.

Weakness:

Gas guzzler.

Wonderful car. This is my second A6 and I love it. It has 108,000 miles on it now and it is still running well.

Strength:

Very fast, drop dead interior.

Weakness:

Poor tire wear (Conti), replaced catalytic converter, driver widow disappeared into door on a 25 degree day, never to re-appear.

The first few months were great with the car. The "check engine" and misfires began. After 3 years and multiple engine control modules, fuel injectors, coils, spark plugs, etc., the auto still acts up on a regular basis. Fortunately,(for me) the lease is up in 12 months and Audi will sell this car to some poor, unsuspecting customer that believes that they build and stand behind a good product.

Over 27 years of Saab and Mercedes ownership which almost no problems compared to the Audi.

Perelli P6000 Tires are the Worst! After about 5000 miles they feather and create a lot of road noise. I replaced them with a set of Bridgestone S03 Pole Position. This is a Great Tire for the A6 4.2

This is my second A6 4.2 and I am about to buy my third... It is absolutely the finest automobile that I have ever owned. The 300hp 4.2 V8 makes the A6 QUICK, and the Quattro AWD makes is SAFE & AGILE under most any type of road condition.

Strength:

The silver paint looks nice when it's clean

Weakness:

Although we leased this car so all of the problems have been paid for, it has been such a hassle. We have to pay for our own rental car monthly. I have broken down with an infant on several occassions for reasons like the computer saying there is 200 miles of gas left and really the tank is empty. Also, we constantly have to put new tires on. Because they are performance tires, when you get one flat, you have to replace all 4 or it won't drive properly, according to Audi. Beware. This is a huge expense every year. Also, there are constant repairs such as the bose cd system has broke 4 times, the keys 3 times (they are $150 each key)and had to take the car into the shop because the key wouldn't release from the ignition. Also, I had a dent in my bumper the size of a golf ball that took one month to repair because the parts were difficult to get in and the paint difficult to match according to Audi. If you get this car, I suggest having a backup plan. The first car I purchased when I was a kid was a nissan sentra with 80k miles on it. I had less problems and felt 100 times safer driving alone then I do when I am in this audi!good luck!

This is by far the worst choice we have EVER made when it comes to an automobile. Our Audi is in the shop monthly. We are tied into a lease or we would have gotten rid of it quickly

The car is a blast to drive and the feel is far superior than any Japanese car I have driven. When it is running good it is very fast and handles great for a sedan. Will I buy another? No way! Problems, problems, problems. As soon as the warranty expired at 50,000 the head gaskets had to be replaced due to leaks. the turbos have been repaired twice prior to this. The check engine light comes on frequently and I just had to have the tie rods redone. I have left the service department on several occassions only to have to return the next day. A car that cost over $40,000 should not have these problems. I will go with BMW or someone other make with a proven track record. GOOD BYE AUDI!

Strength:

Quattro all wheel drive is the best. Quality design, fit and finish. Turbo charged engine that performs! Best interior lighting of controls that I have ever seen.

Weakness:

Poor dealer support. Lack of radio controls on steering wheel. Electric windows move too fast.

My experience with luxury cars includes Jaguar and Infiniti. In comparison, several characteristics jump out at you after driving the Audi A6 2.7T. Steering is like on rails, yet very responsive to avoid pot holes. The all wheel drive is stunning, particularly under poor road conditions. The turbo engine blows most v8's away. I would rate design, fit and finish as good and sensible. This car has a combination of features that should keep the owner smiling for many years. Infiniti probably has a better engine and the Jaguar ride is great, but the Audi A6 has tons of potential.
