Gas Mileage, Interior, Control, Fold Down Rear Seat,

Weakness:

No cruise control, Stereo

I am 15 and starting to drive and i think this car is pretty damn good. It used to be my moms car and i think cavaliers are nice. The newer 2003 models are pretty much the same thing as mine.

Strength:

great gas miles per full tank. A/C and heat work great. Not bad acceleration.

Weakness:

The temperature gauge is too near hot. but was told for this car it's normal. Never had problems with overheating so I guess it's ok.

Have had not many problems with this car. Very dependable. And style of car not bad. the only repairs was brakes. Other than that it's a very good car and I would recommend it to a friends.

Strength:

Great value for the money Good acceleration, gas mileage Fairly reliable, cheap to fix

Weakness:

Fit and finish,Cavaliers have terrible paint, like most Chevys.

I don't know what everyone else is whining about, I love Chevy Cavaliers! I've had three of them, still have two and one has 150K on it. My Z24 is a blast to drive, a lot of power and accessories for the money. My Z24 only had one problem with the power steering and Chevrolet treated me like gold when they repaired it. My 89' with all the miles has always been fairly dependable, and if anything did go wrong the car always "limped in", and was cheap to repair.

Always reliable- even when the head gasket was out could still drive it. It was cheap and so are the new ones!

Weakness:

TOO MANY TO NAME! Power windows suck in them all of mine have be replaced. head gasket failure mechanical problems electrical problems A/C system computer problems

I have only had this car less than a year, it has continued to nickel and dime me to death. I had a Nissan 200sx before this car and I will swear it up and down foreign cars are so much better. Nothing ever went wrong, but with this car I have had to replace the waterpump, and now the head gasket. Also I had to fix the switch in the transmission..........NOT CHEAP! I had a 1992 cavalier and still have it with 206,000 miles on it and it runs like a dream, so I figured get another one, big mistake. A word of Advice, if your going to be a cavalier buy an older one. The new ones are made too cheaply, and are not worth the time and effort! :)

BRAKES

Not happy with braking system car has bin in shop 8 time's for same problem! NO BRAKES! They say they can't fix the problem, that it's the ABS system! They say that it seem's to over act at time's. My moto, REPLACE THE SYSTEM! But, that cost too much for them to do, so they send you on your way. Well a car accident later (due to ABS not working) still no satisfaction! CAR IN SHOP AGAIN, after I just picked it up 3 days ago, same problem again, this time, slid through very busy intersection, funny thing is road was dry! Be careful for though's who own a 2000 Cav. 2dr.

Strength:

It gets from A to B (maybe)

Weakness:

EVERYTHING ELSE. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER CHEVY AS LONG AS I LIVE. THIS HUNK OR SCRAP HAS EVEN TURNED ME OFF TO THE CORVETTE. I NOW KNOW WHY AMERICAN CAR COMPANIES ARE NEVER GOING TO CATCH UP WITH IMPORTS. I will go overseas for my next car.

Where to begin with this piece of crap... I bought the car with 19,000 miles on it. NOTHING BUT A PAIN IN THE ASS SINCE! If I got out and walked, I would get up to speed faster. The car feels and sounds cheap. The handling is horrible. Corners cause SEVERE front-end dive to the outside of the corner. Braking is even worse. Don't even think about braking on a rough surface. I HAVE HAD MY BRAKES FAIL ON ME IN EMERGANCY STOPS! Hit a pot-hole or similar bump in the road while braking and be prepared to dodge the car in front of you because the Cav won't stop. The ABS usually releases the front disks leaving the back drums (which are worthless) to stop the entire weight of the car. The body molding is cheap and easily scratched and pitted. The seals on the doors are pathetic at keeping out an water that is coming down harder than a drizzle.

Strength:

Very quick - V6 is awesome Good gas mileage Comfortable car Good amount of room for a 2-door VERY RELIABLE - always starts even in the coldest weather! Great color - bright blue! Flowmaster 3-chambered muffler makes it sound like a muscle car! Sounds great! Put a little money into sound system and it sounds GREAT!! Can take corners pretty fast with very little body roll Great in winter!! Can get thru anything!!

Weakness:

Excessive outside noise Harsh ride (but it's a sports car after all) Rust - but that's normal for old car in MN Sunroof leaks slightly No rear window defroster

This was my first car and I absolutely love it! It's really cute and it's a great body style even though it's 13 years old! V6 is very quick and I can still beat a lot of new cars on the road today! Its super reliable. Always starts right up NO MATTER WHAT! I bought this car with 111,000 miles on it. It now has about 157,000 miles on it but there is no difference in its performance from when I purchased it. Have only had to make minor repairs & replacements - spark plugs, alternator, etc. In winter this car is a machine and can go pretty much anywhere. With its wide tires you would think that it wouldn't be very good but it's GREAT!! My boyfriend's driveway is just about straight-uphill but my car gets up it just about every attempt in the winter snow. I don't know what else to say. This is a great car! I don't know if I'm going to have the heart to sell it!

Strength:

It gets ok gas mileage, and the air conditioning and heater work quickly. It doesn't heat up.

Weakness:

I had to replace the fuel pump and it is very expensive. I have also had to replace every fuel injectors they cost around $100 and that doesn't count labor either. My husband learned how to put them in after we had already had to replace two of them. Mine has no overdrive or cruise, I thought that was a basic feature that came with most cars basic line.

It is an ok car, but it is made cheap!!

Strength:

okay gas mileage (could be better for such a small car), handles well, good stereo system.

Weakness:

squeaks, rattles, uncomfortable ride, too small (especially in the back seat), in the shop way too often for a new car (about to be put back in the shop for the fifth time...the compressor is already going out now).

I HATE this car. I bought it brand new with 19 miles on it. It now has 30,300 miles on it and has been in the shop four times! It is made cheaply and has all kinds of rattles and squeeks when I drive. I had a Cavalier before this one and the motor head cracked w/ only 75,000 miles on it...guess I should have learned my lesson then. I am in the process of getting this one ready to sell...NO MORE CAVALIERS FOR ME!!!!!

Strength:

Gets great gas milage.

Weakness:

Parts for repairs are very expensive.

Good gas milage but front end started making a noise after about 20,000 miles. No one could seem to figure out what it was. Then one day it just jerked and wouldn't go. Had it towed and it was the CV joint on the right, and less than 6 months later we are replacing the other side. Also had to replace the fuel pump. It was very costly.
