Strength:

Good engine and gas mileage. I like to save my pennies so big engines aren't for me. The gas mileage also helps me have some left over pennies.

Weakness:

The car gets me where I am going. As long as it does this well I will be satisfied.

It is a great car overall. There are lots of mods you can do like exhaust, high flow cat converter, air intake, and much more. It is just the car I need to get around, and has enough pick up to keep up. The car has had some problems but all were covered under warranty. The front section of the dash got a crack, and the seat bealt stopped retracting. Before that the stearing wheel squeeked when I would make turns. The dealership fixed up the squeaks by replacing a couple parts and lubing it up. Also, I got a new dash and a new seat bealt retractor. Chevy stands behind its warranty. I just hope that as long as I treat the car good it will last for many years to come. I know it is like a low end model but it is a fun little car. I plan on putting on dual exhaust, high flow cat converter, and an air intake. In the future I plan to put on a custom wing and louvers to make it look like a 70's car. ha ha ha! All in all I give this car a good rating.

Strength:

It looked sharp as all hell with the top down. I guess it would have gotten good gas milage. I wouldn't know. I only got to drive it 20,000 miles in a year.

Weakness:

See paragragh one. Chevy needs to put a little more thought into there vehicles. I mean sheesh!

Well, I loved the car when I bought it. Three days later the computer went out, then it overheated for almost the whole time I bought it. The top leaked. The oil pump was bad. The heater core was shot. The breaks and tires both needed to be replaced. The speakers were blown. It spent more time on the tow truck then the road. And no one could ever tell me why it shakes when you start it in cold weather. I will NEVER EVER buy another cavalier in my life unless I want to commit suicide. Then I would drive it off the Kentucky dam!

Strength:

Off-the-line speed--This is due to 150 lbs of torque. Plenty for a car of that size. Traction Control---Very few cars offer that option on a standard trim model. OnStar---This is the first year chevy has offered it on the Cavalier (smart move). Glove box---No one really thinks about the glove box until you want to put more inside of it than just the manual. It is rather large for a compact car. Headlights---Halogen composite is a great thing. Nice to see it is standard on ALL trim levels

Weakness:

Cup Holders---The two main holders are right in front of the HVAC controls. Seats---It would be nice if they were power (optional). Back seats---cramped; especially if the driver is over 6' tall. But then again, it is a compact car

Coming of a Pontiac Grand Prix, GTP, I had reservations about its performance. However, once I took a test drive, I was sold. The car is peppy for it's size and has some nice options that are standard that I couldn't have even gotten on my '97 Pontiac.

Strength:

Well, its a nice looking car, kinda snappy.

Weakness:

The interior color makes me sick. I think the transmission was bad when I bought it but the transmission shop claims nothing is wrong with it. I wish it was a stick, unfortunatley I didn't pick this one out so I didn't get a choice!!

Not a bad little sports car. Definitely a chick car though. Mine is shiny black and pretty much loaded. Power windows, locks, sunroof. (Sunroof I love) I am in the process of selling it. I get sick of cars fast. Its also a snappy little car, not as fast as a Mustang Cobra, but... I made mine nicer with tinted windows, euro tails... Next time I would buy something nicer. I am looking at a Cadillac Catera now.

Strength:

It's bang for the buck with a ton of standerd stuff is a real plus. Ford and Chrysler arn't to bad, any thing from over sea is way out of this world. GMAC finacing is also the best out there, hell the would finace a monkey ( thats what the guy at the dealer told me. Like most GM cars/trucks you get your money out of them and most repairs are not to bad in regards to price and getting parts. The standerd warrenty is great too they will fix anything even a leaky sun roof (caused by a 170 db/3000watt sound system) four times.

Weakness:

Fit and finish could be a bit better, some molding and panals dont always line up 100%. The big thing for me is lack of speed parts and trim parts that are not out of this world.(Computer mods are the worst I can't find any one who can do them.) Still don't have an independant rear suspention.(Which make dropping your car past 2 1/4" a no-no cause macpherson struts don't go that way. Plus air bags the new big thing is impossable.

This type of car has a lot of high/low points to it. It's one of the lowest priced cars in it's class with a ton of standerd stuff (power windows, locks, sun roof) are all extra and thats about it, unlike all the other car makes. The two biggest down sides are when you go to a dealer for service you get the "it's only a cavalier" talk from the service guy meaning you didn't drop $45K or more on a vehicel so go wait in the corner. Second when you want to make your sport compact go faster or put on trim parts you have to spend 3times as much as every one for parts and you have 1/10th the choice. This is because GM sucks at factory over the counter mods unlike Ford (SVT) and has no factory hot rod entery leval cars unlike Ford (focus svt)Chrysler (2.0sx/rt). All in all its a good little car but in less you have mad cash to spend its a point a to b car with a far bit of power.

Strength:

Sporty exterior, price, great on gas, air conditioning/heating, comfortable seats, roomy interior for compact

Weakness:

Only weakness I really can see if the lack of cup holders. The 96 has a cup holder up front but it only about an inch and a half deep. Can't hold anything!

This car was excellent. I got my car in very late March just after getting my license. This was my first car, and it had 63k miles on it when purchases. In mid-November the car had 72k miles on it and I never had a problem with it. Unfortunately, at an intersection someone ran their red light at a good speed of possible 40 mph or more and slammed into the right front end of my car. I walked away with no pain and hadn't even wore a seatbelt! I've learned my lesson on that one, though, and sadly, the car was totaled. But I am definitely in the market for another one. Excellent car!

i think that the 1999 chevrolet cavalier z24 is a good investment. it may not be a honda or a mustang or what not, but it can hold its own in the street racing world. i wouldnt recommend racing it stock, but once work is done to make it a true 'street-racing' car, it can seriously hold its own wieght in the street racing world. it also is a good, reliable car

Strength:

It rides smooth for a while, but then something always goes wrong. It isn't too big or too little, and it isn't a bug! I have to admit, if you want a small sporty looking car, just for looks, not racing, this is a good car. They do have a nice style and you can put a million body kits and euro performance parts on them. With a lot of money in it, it can be pretty quick, but it's nothing compared to my new 3000 GT!

Weakness:

IT'S SLOW!!!! And it looks like the cheap version of the Comaro! But it's cute, for a girl to drive, but not a guy. And let me tell you, if you ever flip one of these, just say hasta la vista! Because you're pretty much toast! I saw one just like my old one at my ex-boyfriend's house get flipped doing about 65! There's always something going wrong with these! My boyfriend had a 98 Z24, stick, and he dropped his once and his engine twice in less than a year! They also loose their value pretty fast too. And have you seen the new 2003's? They're FRIGGEN ugly!!! I guess they're supposed to be coming out with a turbo here in 2004, but it better not look like the 2003's! Those might be okay. They just need to do something about everything messin' up!

This is a good car for a girl that don't race. But if you want some horsepower, this is not the car you need! This is a good first car for a teenage girl...

If you like the look, spend a few more dollars and go for the Z28. Trust me, it's a WAY better deal!
