Strength:

Looks

Weakness:

Very unreliable with the dealerships unable to fix the problem.

Our 2002 Chev. Cavalier Sport Coupe has had electrical problems from the beginning. Chevrolet has known about these problems for at least the last 2 years. I have spoken to another buyer that's been going thru the same thing and we have proof from 7 states. It's a serious problem where the car just stops going in the middle of busy streets with other cars coming straight for you. This has happened to us 3 times now.

Strength:

The car looks sporty on the exterior.

Weakness:

The maintence is ridiculous. The back seats are very uncomfortable. This is not a smooth riding car. :( I do not recommend anyone spending their hard earned cash on one.

This car has been nothing but trouble since it reached 80,000 miles. I have replaced the alternator, fuel pump, sensory unit,3 batteries, and the air pump. What a hassle..I am soo glad I was given this car and I didn't waste my own money on it. :(

Strength:

Horsepower, Torque, Stock Apperance, Driveability, and comfort.

Weakness:

Duuuhhh..

This is my second Cavalier. My first was a 2.2 coupe. And it was the worst car made. But i looked into the Z24, and it was far superior. The clean groundeffects, 16 inch rims, and sunroof really top it off. Not to mention the 2.4 pushes an impressive 155 hp and 150 trq. This car moves, and on command. I would never reccomend a non Z24 though.

Strength:

It was cheap

Weakness:

It was made. Everything and anything.

TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE car. Okay I have heard that Ugly Duckling sells a lot of lemons. I was able to drive my car home and had it for about 2-3 months when my starter went out, then my alternator went. The car wasn't that nice to begin with. It was a putrid red color and the only reason why I bought it was because I was young and didn't know any better. It was slow and had every problem you could imagine. The company had to tow it just to take it back. It was definitely an Ugly Duckling.

I personally love my caviler I have owned cavilers since 1984, they usually dont need any major work done, my 94 needed an altenator every few years but other than that it was a good year.

Strength:

Great air conditioning. Great gas mileage, Great pick up speed. Love the interior dashboard set up.

Weakness:

I hate those airbrakes! They frighten me but I have gotten use to them. They just dont slow me down like they should. The breaks in my 91 worked fine.

This is My second cavalier. I had a 91 and I'm currently driving a 98. I choose to own them because they're cheap cars but look nice. I bought this used a year ago. After a little over 40,000 miles I havent had to fix anything on it. I must say I do like it but will trade it in for a small suv. I cant ride sitting low in cars anymore I want to sit up high.

Strength:

powerful...cute cars....decent performance (after tons of servicing)....economical (for those with a big wallet)

Weakness:

cheaply made for the price....cramped....like the former Geo Metro...the cheapest thing that Chevy makes, and it SHOWS....do not buy one....if so...buy a used car...a new car is nice, but, a new Cavalier is a waste of money....sorry Chevy...I have owned 4 Chevy's, but, none this bad!!!!!

I think the car is cute...VERY cheaply made...but, I do like Chevrolet, but, quite disappointed that they made this body style of Cavalier for so long, and the car is still a poor performer....It has ran well, with lots of money put into it to do so....so new, but, such a waste of money...it is falling apart inside, and the more miles on it, the louder it runs, and the harder it drives.....and I keep it in the garage, and clean it....it has been a hard 74,000 miles to get on the car....with all the money I put in it...maybe the next 74k will be easier to put on it, but, I REALLY DOUBT IT!!!!

Strength:

None

Weakness:

Battery died recently, causing electrical problems throughout car. Interior plastic is cracking. Seats lack support. Stereo just plain sucks. When ABS stopped working, Chevy dealership was very rude and incompetent about fixing the problem. Cup holders in awkward locations. The check engine light comes on constantly, even though Chevy fails to find any problem with that. Cavalier steering is terrible. No trunk release on key remote. Lots of engine noise (which Chevy also insists is normal). You will find plenty more weaknesses in other reviews. Purchase a Cavalier and you will regret it.

The Cavalier definitely does not meet my lowest expectations. ANY GOOD REVIEW FOR THIS CAR IS PROBABLY WRITTEN BY A CAR SALESMAN.

Nothing special about this car

Weakness:

Lots of problems for only having 56,000 miles on it, including problems with battery, engine, ac, shocks) Interior feels very cheap, cramped, and uncomfortable.

I HATE this car- lots of problems for a fairly recent model. Chevy service is the worst I have dealt with. I will NEVER purchase another Chevy.

Strength:

good gas mileage, dependable.

Weakness:

paint job.

This is a great little car over all. I have owned it for almost two years. Gets great gas mileage. Mine has a 6 cylinder and I would suggest not going below that. It has the get up and go of a v-8 though. Not a bunch of room inside, no decent cup holders and small ashtray but I can live with that. Mine is a plain jane. It has always gotten me to where I'm going besides the batterie failing one time. Uses no oil. I have also had to replace the breaks completley but this can be expected because I have 130,000 miles on it now. The only complaint I have is the paint started peeling about 6 months after I got it and now it looks like a painted pony going down the road.
