Strength:
Power, Looks, Brakes, Interior, Lumination, easy to buy aftermarket parts for.
Weakness:
Dash rattles when going over very big bumps. The paint isn''t strong against rocks. Great Car!! I have the Z24 model with every single option offered. I bought it with 24K miles on it. It has the 2.4 DOHC with the 4 speed automatic. Tremendous power and easily modified to be made into an import killer. I have race it in the Import class at a local track and for a stock car, it is faster than souped up Hondas. Strength:
Reliability,style,price.
Weakness:
Leaky power sunroof, cracked panelling on doors and dash. I''ve owned my cavalier for almost 6 years and I am a very satisfied owner. At 135 oookm on the odometer the car still runs great.I havn''t experienced any major problems other than replacing the head gasket at 99 oookm.(which was covered in extended warranty.)The styling still looks up-to-date and manages to turn heads after all this time. For the price I''m glad I chose the cavalier over the civic coupe. Cavalier
Strength:
Excellent little commuter car. Brake pads lasted forever, Clutch lasted much longer than average, incredible fuel economy (Engine still gets 36MPG after 90K+ miles) No head gasket problems (Which I hear are semi-common), or ANY problems for that matter. Nothing more than routine maintanance and good, safe driving has kept this car going strong.
Weakness:
None except for the fact that these stupid teenaged kids try to hot rod the Cavalier. What a waste of a good car and your parents'' money. Buy American because we *still* make the best cars in the world. Similar Products Used: 2000 Chrysler Sebring JXI Convertible, Jeep CJ-7 |

Strength:
Roofless driving and fair engine power.
Weakness:
Everything... Bad brakes, bad air conditionner, weak body, power steering made of silk, dangerous ABS (I pulled out the relay), noisy plastic finition, etc... Good looking car, but it''s almost the only good thing. I drove a Convertible black Z24 for 3 years. Acording to me, it''s the worst car ever been built (After those Ladas). People who gives a good quote to this car, probably never drive someting else before. Similar Products Used: Acura Integra, Honda Civic and Accord, Volks Golf, Subaru Impreza WRX. |

Strength:
Great Pickup, Great Handling, Great Gas Mileage, Great Price.
Weakness:
Dash rattles and squeaks when its cold. Extremely annoying but doesnt really affect anything. I LOVE THIS CAR! Got it with 20K miles on it in the summer of 2000. Have put 30 more on it since and havent had anything go wrong yet. Thats saying something considering I street race it on a regular basis. It handles almost like a BMW. Unbelievable pickup for being just a 4 Cyl as well. Spanked a V8 mustang, and a F150 lightning in this thing. Great car to make modifications too. Highly recommend picking one up if you have the means. Similar Products Used: Z3 roadster, Porsche Boxster, CelicaGTS. (Worked at the galt house parking cars and i have driven everything, and I still love my car.) |

Strength:
Engine, I have the z-24 model and the engine has some pep for the price. Looks good.
Weakness:
Reliability, durability. Got this car in Sept 1999. Was great for the first 1.5 year, then the car starts to shake, rattle and roll. Cooling lite comes on when cold, front suspension makes a wierd noise when wet (??!!). Thank god i only leases this car, If i can give you some advise, it is a good car to lease but i would never buy one. I would spend the extra couple thousand and buy a Honda or Toyota. that they don''t come standard with a spoiler I think that the Chevrolet Cavalier is a very good car for high school students or college students. They can have a lot of fun with this car. Similar Products Used: none |

Cavalier Coupe
Strength:
Good fuel consumption Decent reliablity if maintained properly Cold weather starts without plugging in Trunk room(can fit bike in trunk without putting down back seat!) Engine has good torque and gives the car some nice pep
Weakness:
2.2 engine is rough sometimes Powersteering sweat(very slight leak, very common on GM vehicles though) Cracking plastic interior panels(occured repeatedly) Creaks and rattles from dash and rear of car in cold temperatures Purchased in ''95 with 15,000km and currently have 127,000km on car. Engine and drivetrain have been good except for valve cover leak(easy do-it-yourself fix) and a tick sound that sometimes comes from the engine at idle and during acceleration which is apparently common for the 2.2L. Averaged 31-33mpg since new with a 60/40 hwy/city driving mix. 5spd has been fine but the shifter is somewhat imprecise. The lower half of the door panels have cracked in multiple places even after being replaced and repaired. Creaks and rattles from dash and rear of car when temperature drops below 0 Celsuis. There were other minor interior woes that were fixed under warranty. Had problem with occasional random stalling that dealership couldn''t diagnose(cost $100 for a couple of visits) but later had it fixed under "secret warranty" though that is the fault of the dealership/mechanic. All in all has been pretty reliable maybe due in part to my strict maintenance. Similar Products Used: Only car I''ve owned. |

Strength:
Dependable, Gas Efficient, Looks O.K
Weakness:
Convertible Top Sucks. Factory Stereo, Road Noise, Interior Fades Fast , Engine Noise, Very Uncomfortable Ride, Trunk Latch, Paint. I have owned this car since 1996. It had 30,000 miles on it at time of purchase and now has over 150,000 miles. I never had the intention of buying a Chevrolet and was looking at a Ford Mustang Convertible to buy but the price difference was huge betwen the 2. I could not afford the Mustang at the time and was persuaded to test drive the Cavalier. It is not the best looking car in the world by any means, but it is the most dependable car I have owned. Other than routine maintenance, I have not put over $300 ( new top ) into repairs on the car. Even though it has been reliable, I will never own another cavalier. The convertibles are awful. They LEAK really bad and are very NOISEY. Similar Products Used: 1987 Pontiac Grand Am SE |
