Strength:
It is very very good on gas. I drove six hours to a destination and had 1/2 tank of gas left! Its sleek design is also impressive. Maintenance for this car is also very inexpensive. I never had a problem with this car.
Weakness:
There are no weaknesses with this car, only if the engine was a little more powerful. What a great car! This is the best car I have ever purchase. I got a top of the line Cavalier RS that comes with every option anyone can think of. |

Weakness:
Transmission. Interior Rear Seat Comfort Reliablility Trunk Room. Don''t waste your money. Bought this car with 16,000 miles...thank god there was still a warranty. After having the car for 11 month, and only 9,000 miles later..the transmission died....car wouldn''t move, and new tranny installed. The trunck latch had to be replaced...twice. The antenae is always coming loose. The interior is awful...the headrest is loose, the upholstery on the bucket seats is coming unglued. And...just 2 months ago, after having the car for 10 months since the tranny was replaced, the ignition coil burned out...after 33,000 miles....Ridiculous. Now we are ready for a trade in, and the value is terrible. Maybe we just got a lemon.... Cavalier 4Door Sedan
Strength:
Ergonomic design, comfortable for short drivers and long distances Economical, good for students or commuters No frills Easy to maneuver
Weakness:
Poor gas mileage A little noisy I have been really pleased with my 98 sedan. I bought it used in 99 with only 17,000 miles. Now it has close to 70k. It''s pretty much a no frills car with only power steering and A/C as "luxury" items. I am short and my legs fit wonderfully under the dash. For a small car its ergonomic design is quite pleasing. Of course it is a bit noisy and bumpy at times but this isn''t a luxury sedan either. Monthly payments are low and so it''s really a good car for students or commuters. I also have no problems whipping through traffic or getting in and out of tight parking spots. Not a V6 engine of course but decent. I keep up with all regular maintenance on it so it really has given me little trouble. I think the only complaint about this car I have is the poor gas mileage and the fact that there is no trunk light. Other than that I''m happy. the whole car This car sucks! I bought it because I needed something cheap but reliable. Well I got the cheap part. The car has had a rebuilt engine put into it and still has lots of problems. The coolant continues to leak and I have taken it back several times never gets probably fixed. The transmission is going and I still owe on the car. I should have listened to my friends and bought a honda. |

Horrible pick up, Dash rattles like a bucked of bolts, Terrible Engine... Nothing but problems HORRIBLE little CAR... Great to look at, but that''s as far as it goes. I''ve had this car for a year and 9 months,I''ve had the oil changed every 3,000 miles, and done all of the proper maintenace required... And It''s about to have the engine rebuilt for the second time. First time, it was the timing unit, with only 27,000 miles. This time, it is a lifter with only 44,000 miles... Can''t wait to sell it and buy a Honda!!! |

Strength:
V6, cheap parts to replace, 5 speed manual trans, back seat big enough to do the wild thing!
Weakness:
Not enough horse power for a V6, only 125hp, NO CUP HOLDERS! CHEAP A$$ MOTHERS AT CHEVY! Stock stereo and speakers. This is my first car when I bought it back in 1988. I now have over 281000km on it and runs beautifully. I can''t complain being that this car lasted me over 12 years of daily driving. I did store it over the winter months for the first 2yrs that I had it, but the Canadian winter nearly froze me to death while taking public transit (TTC) and decided to drive it from that point on. I have rust proof it for the first 3 or so years. Did regular maintenance and replaced parts as they needed. Good thing about this car is that parts are cheap. I only wish I knew how to repair the body myself as it is starting to rust. I will most likely have to junk the car due to rust in the next 2-4yrs. But hey, I got my moneys worth. I have a couple of other cars now but I still love to drive my Z24. I''d buy another one if it had a V6 in it again. |

/Cavalier RS Convertible
Strength:
Snazzy when the top is down. Comfortable ride, low engine noise. Very efficient engine - 28/32. Fits two adults comfortably.
Weakness:
Quality of materials-rusts easily, convertible top is disintegrating despite garaging. Impotent engine, low visibility. Weak horn - I could get more attention if I shouted at other cars. Plastic bumpers dent easily. For a first car, my Cavalier has taught me the truth about owning cars. At 8 years old and with only 40,000 miles on it from an elderly female driver, I anticipated a cherry of a car. Unfortunately, the car may have gotten used to sub-25 mph driving and only being taken out three times a week. After six months, or so, of daily driving, the convertible top began showing considerbaly more wear. The interior portion of the roof separated from the outside, and now there is a large gap that leaks cold air on fair days and torrents of water on rainy ones. Also, the I4 is an impotent powerplant. This engine couldn''t beat a golf cart in a race. In terms of reliability, I''ve had few problems. A few minor issues: The electrical system appears to be possessed by a teenager-hating demon. When the dome-light control is set to "DOOR"-which automatically shuts off the light when all doors are closed-the light rarely goes off immediately, if it goes off at all. This leaves the poor driver shivering in the cold, watching the dome light go off, making sure he won''t have a dead battery in the morning. Also, the light bulbs in the trunk and the glove compartment are reluctant to turn off. This results in dead batteries when the car isn''t driven every day. Aside from the unusual defects, I have only minor grudges with this car. If I was able to make the decision again, however, I would have looked for a different car. I suppose I shouldn''t have expected as much from a Chevy. Similar Products Used: Jaguar XK8 (conv), Mustang Cobra (conv), Volvo C70 (conv)...I know, I know. None are in the compact car class - I guess Chevy should learn where the bar is by comparing it''s convertibles to the ones |
