Strength:

Everything. Gas milage, reliability, sporty looking, fun to drive.

Weakness:

Nothing.

I would recommend this car to anyone who wants a fun, affordable priced, low gas mileage car. I have had my car for 1 year and have experienced nothing but fun in it. Reliability was the reason I bought the car and it has proven it's self. I feel very safe in my car. The anti-lock brakes have saved my live more than once and I have peace of mind knowing that my car is equipped with dual air bags. An all over good car. I know I love mine!

Model Reviewed: Chevy Cavalier 2-door

Strength:

-Looks, the two-door coupes are sporty looking.
-Hardly any wind noise.
-Stereo, awesome stereo. Great bass. I love it.
-Engine Sound, I like it at least, it sounds like a good hearty Chevy to me.
-ABS
-Power steering
-Airbags

Weakness:

-Blind spots, this car has terrible blindspots.
-Cramped in the backseat, middle seat has a big hard bump in it. Very uncomfortable after awhile.
-Sluggish, it doesn't accelerate as fast as I would like (course, I'm only 15). You push down on the accelerator pedal and the engine whines while not getting up to the speed you want for quite some time.
-Road noise, I don't know what is up with this car, either it's has the worst suspension ever or the undercarriage or whatever isn't made very well. Because the ride is really jerky, you can feel lot of potholes and big cracks as rough thuds. You will feel alot of vibrations through the seats and through the floor. This is my biggest complaint.
-Funky brakes, that's all I can say, they're kinda testy sometimes, but sometimes they can be really solid brakes. I don't know, I've only driven it acouple times.

My dad actually owns it, I just drive it sometimes because I can drive now. I like the looks of the '97 models, although, I like the '01 Z24 bests. Plus, they perform better. But that's a different story. We have here what we would call an 'adequate' first car, commuter car, or just your jo-blow-average car. I myself absolutely love Chevys, so I give my fellow Chevy cars an extra boost. Although, I still do have some complaints about the car. As I was saying, my biggest complaint would be the ride...it's quite bumpy and choppy out on potholed and screwed up roads. When the road's smooth and relatively flat, the ride is very nice. The springs aren't too soft or too hard. Inside is fairly quiet at 60mph when its smooth road. I've got to make a special comment on the stereo system, me, being a teenager, I like my bass (by the way, I'm a girl, and this car's got some nice bass. Almost as good as you can get without putting $3,000 into an amp, subwoofers and new speakers. But anyways, onto the next thing. I didn't mention the squeaks and sounds the interior makes when the car is in motion on the freeway. The dashboard panels' squeak, the windshield window squeaks where it meets the panelling...lots of squeaks and rattles. One thing that actually could be potentially dangerous is that the sun visor cannot be moved over to the side without interferring with your rear view mirror, so everytime you move you sun visor (it's only on the drivers' side, but still, it could cause you to get into a wreck or somethin' trying to adjust it back or whatever) you have to readjust your mirror. Plenty of cup holders for such a little car. I like trunk space, there's a little net thing to put your groceries in so that they won't go flying all over your trunk, smashing your eggs and spilling your milk everywhere. Seats are fairly comfortable up front, though, hard to get out of in back. Access is terrible, to the back seat. The seat belt for the front seat always catches you in the middle of the throat while you're trying to get in. Even I, a rather small, healthy person can get in without actually 'falling' in. So, forget about taking your grandparents in the 2-door Cavaliers. Gas mileage is pretty good, I think it's about at 25-30mpg on the highway...I could be wrong.
Moving down the list, I think if you're not as picky as I am and don't really care about little squeaks or rattles or the sound of the engine when it hits it's limit. So, the choice is up to you, these Cavaliers are very dependable, they're stylish, they're affordable, and for goodness sakes, they're Chevys!! Not to mention, they look really cool modified and as custom cars. My goodness, if you survived throught this whole thing, this calls for a celebration! Hope this was some help to you. Good luck and happy buying.

Strength:

This car is excellent on gas. Didn't have any mechanical problems in first 3 years except for a defective switch (replaced under warranty). Good acceleration (considering its smaller engine). Good price.

Weakness:

ABS breaks not too effective on wet pavement.

Excellent vehicle when purchased new (at least while it's still covered under full warranty). Would recommend leasing vs. purchasing. Not sure how reliable this car is after 60000 km. Highly recommended as second vehicle or for a student (low payments).

I have loved my z since I bought it.It hasn't given me any major trouble.I got it painted last fall because it was starting to rust but that's typical in New England. It is still going strong at 100,00 miles & I have driven it hard. This car has been my best friend!

Strength:

The car has many well designed features that compliment the car. I like how the doors automatically lock when you put the car in gear although my girlfriend hates it. I like the sunroof and remote starter along with the large trunk size. Like the 3.1 V6. Very relieable. The rear spolier adds a nice touch to the car.

Weakness:

The bad points of this car is the small tire size (14")and rim bolt pattern (4 on 5)which is next to impossible to find nice rims for. The door pockets are a little small and the interior light is terrible. Can't see you hand in front of your face. Slow off the line. Could be a little better on gas(300k/m per tank). White in color so it's hard to see in the Canadian winters. Dash vents pop out after a while. Needs interior trunk release. Also needs driving lights for better visibility. Factory sound system sucks along with the rear window defroster. Only small people can fit in the back seat. The car would also be better with a 4 speed automatic transmission instead of the three speed.

After driving the car for a year I really miss my Grand Am. The car could be better on gas. Very comfortable car to drive. Smooth ride and good handling around corners for a street car. Don't like the dash but I live with it anyway. I like the large rear window and removeable sunroof. Good car to start off with for a new driver or someone who wants a cheap relieable car that won't break down every time you get in it. Make sure you rust check it often because it will rust very easily around the bottom of the door and the top of the back window.

I compared it to my 1991 Pontiac Grand Am SE. Would be better if it had cruise control and tilt steering. Along with power seats, and mirrors. Like the 16 wheels on the Grand Am so much better.
Also compared it to 2001 Nissan Sentra SE. Needs 4 wheel disk brakes as a safety feature. Could use new sound system and better designed centre console.
Also compared it to 350 big block Chevy race car. Doesn't handle near a well when turning left but handles better when turning right!

Strength:

Often given the rep of being a girls car that has no umph...but wait till I smoke you on the strip! It handles nice.

Weakness:

Most repairs occurr at 60000-70000 miles. It seems to all hit at once which gets costly. Needs a better suspension design...has alot of body roll.

Not only does it have a racy look, but with the right parts, you can give it a racy advantage. My car is only a 1995 2.2l with new intake and exhaust and I'm already dusting brand new eclipse turbos. I can't wait to get super charged. The only probs I've had is that the head gasket leaked, but 90% of all cars off the GM floor already have minor head gasket leaks and a bottle of bars-leak in them. Runs smooth, has pep, and a great affordable car for any college kid out there like me. Also good for sound systems.
