Strength:

Lots of upgrades available for interior and exterior. The fact that not very many people look to the Cavalier for performance and family being in one automobile. Economical.

Weakness:

Poor sound system when everything(windows and top) was down especially on the freeway. Easily fix with all Pioneer products. Lacks horsepower.

I would recommend it over the Camero or Mustang because of passenger space and trunk space. But it does lack the horsepower.

This is my first car but I was a valet attendant and out of all the vehicles that I drove the Cavalier was the only one that held up when it was taking good care of.

Strength:

This is a very fast car with a 2.8 litre V6 engine. It is very roomy and i put a new chrome shifter knob and steering wheel on. It has a 4 speed manual transmission and the shifting is very smooth. I love it but i drove my friends 1996 Z24 and it doesnt come close to the performance as mine. I think the older models look better than the newer ones too. But I also tricked mine out. I also love the digital speedometer, battery gauge, temp. gauge, and fuel gauge.

Weakness:

The sunroof was a little leakey at first but it was no big deal to fix.

I would recomend it to people who like speed and high performance but not so much that you will be able to run from the police and get away.

Strength:

After I bought it and started wrenching on it with my dad and getting it drivable, it was a very nice car. After putting on fresh paint(and bodywork) it looked almost new and ready to hit the town. Acceleration is very good, I had it topped at 117 mph which isn't bad with this car i'm told. I have an exhaust on it and the sound rivals some of the mildly fixed up 5.0 mustangs around town. Overall a very good car.

Weakness:

Kinda a harsh ride but id expect that from an older sports car. No less bought in a barn with worn-out shocks and a body that had rust and dent all over it. Handling isn't the greatest, and brakes aren't good but ABS was added later.

I am only 17 and when I bought it I was 15 and couldn't drive it yet. It was a great learining car and I have to say i will own another sometime in my life. A great school car. With the right tires it is decent in the snow. Overall a great buy and a good vehicle.

Strength:

Sporty
It feels like a more expesive car, drives like most Chevy's
reasonable gas mileage
large fuel tank for such a small car
Plenty of head room for tall folks
reasonable price

Weakness:

ABS kicks in too often, could be dangerous
2 Door has poor visablity, HUGE blind spot
At approximately 40,000 miles the rear shocks/struts started to sqeek
Brakes needed work at 40,000 miles (manual transmission, 1st owner probably didn't downshift)
Dash rattles, has been repaired by dealer, but it started to rattle again within a few months
Chevy dealer slow on repairs
100,000 miles before tune-up advertising seems to be incorrect
2 door doesn't have much leg room in the rear
Battery died without apparent cause at 48,000
seat belt covers, seat latches, dash are starting to fall apart
much highway noise
manual transmission grinds when shifting to reverse

Much classier, better ride/handling than the neon/escort. Very attractive, looks great with a bra. Has always started (before the battery died. Great first car. I have been satisfied with the purchase.
I would buy again, but next time a 4 door.

NOTE: PRICE IN CANADIAN FUNDS

I am 18 years old and purchased this car because of its sportiness and the fact that it was a chevy. I definitely enjoy the sound and power emitted from the 3.1 liter V6 engine. Paired with my 5 speed transmission, this car launches quite well. If you have the RPM right and the clutch timing down, this car can beat many a high performance car off of the line. Overall, I really enjoy this car, but I would enjoy it even more if it would stop breaking. I don't know if its a coincidence or not, but I have never not had a problem with this car. See below.

Weakness:

- First problem I had was my right rear brake cylinder seized. No biggie.
- Second Problem, Tranny and clutch went. $1600. This upset me.
- Third Problem. Heater core and other cooling system components.
- Most recently, the water pump went. I was able to fix that myself, however, as it was in a very easy place.

I would reccomend this car to a teenage guy as his first car because it has good power and handling. I know other people that have these cars and have not experienced any problems with it, so don't be scared. Just make sure you take it to an HONEST mechanic first to chck it out. My final opinion is that this is a great car.

it looks good thanks to me

Weakness:

2.8L engine is a joke , it stalls every time you give throttle more than 1/8th of the way in . Before lowering, it was top heavy, felt as if it was going to fome off the ground on one side in some sharp turns, but with the addition of a 3 inch lowering kit it handles very well.

I would recomend this vehicle only if your going to put a bigger engine in it. But if youre looking for power take your search elseware. It is quite embarrasing to have your vehicle stall because you pressed the gas too hard

Good styling, nice interior. A good sporty car for the price, easily customized. better than an import

Weakness:

engine is kinda weak, tranny went at 40000 miles, dash rattles, interior parts are easily broken ie' seatbelt anchor covers, glove box cover, back seat fold down handle

I recomend the cavi over the neon because, well it's a neon, and atleast it's not an import

Strength:

- good pick-up
- good gas consumption (about 25 city, 33 hiway)
- sharp looking

Weakness:

- feel every bump on road between suspension and low profile tires
- slightly cramped, difficult to get in & out of backseat (2 door)
- some odd warrantable items have broken (see below)
- no inside trunk release
- noisy (dealer calls it a normal "click")

Rear bushings, front bearing plate, battery and clear on my rims have had to been fixed or replaced to date. Glad I got extended warranty (hence the price), including fabric guard and rust inhibitor (works great).

I've been slighty dissatisfied with the car. It runs good, but the little things that have gone wrong with it have been very annoying. The rear bushing went out within the first month.

The noise to bothersome at times, but you deal with it and turn the radio up louder.

I just want to get a bigger car or truck, so I probably wouldn't get another. Overall, it's a good car for someone who wants an economical car If you want the speed & pickup, however, get the Z24.
