Strength:

- Cheap to buy
- Cheap to run
- it has warranty
- it doesnt look all that bad.
- its fun to drive with the 5 speed.

Weakness:

CHEAPLY BUILT ALL AROUND, the build quality in these cars is BAD.
- cheap tires
- cheap breaks
- cheap interior seating and bad fabric
- cheap dash and plastics
- weak factory stereo

The main reason that I got the cavalier is because I had some GM points on a visa card that I wanted to use and I also found that it was the cheapest car to buy because of the 1.9 % lease rate. I got the car cheap and it does what it is supposed to do , go from a to b. I got the package that involves the 15 inch wheels and cd player with 5 speed and nothing else. It is bare bones and it still broke two days after I got it , the altenator was found defective. Later I had trouble with the ABS , and other minor things , it only has 8000km on the car , so im not pleased with the reliabliy of the car so far.

Chevrolet , tried tested and true , ,,,, BAH , not at all

buy a Honda or Toyota if you have the money

1999 - Toyota Corolla LE - Much higher build quality , but its a 4 door and I wanted a 2 door, it also was out of my price range.
1999 - Honda Civic SI - Really nice car , fun to drive , nicely build , good interior , sunroof, but again too much money.
2000 - Honda Civic SE - good value , drove this car after I got mine , if I had the decision to make again I would really consider this car because the price is good for what you get.

$12k No, Save a little bit more money and buy a civi Lx. Its a lot better car believe me. This cars has no strengths. Cheverlet probably did little planning on this car because it really sucks. I put the pedal down to the medal and nothing happens. It accelerates like a tutle. The car is cheap cheap cheap. The dash oh i can't describe it all i can say is lousy lousy lousy. I had no fun driving the car. If I were you I'd sell this junk and get a Civic or something.

Strength:

Not a lot, seats are comfy for the first year, and people aren't to cramped in the back, decent sound system.

Weakness:

Lack of reliability, car was in the shop after two months of driving off of lot. Continual electrical problems, recalls, ABS sysytem failed twice (almost putting me up the back side of a dump truck on I-25) Body roll awfull, performance weak. This is a leased vehicle and Chevy does everything to wash their hands of you when you need help. Run from this car!

Cheap payments, $15.000. Would not recomend this car.

Strength:

Good reliable car...No major problems a wrench couldn't fix. Great gas mileage. Sometimes I get 31 MPG.

Weakness:

The cluth on the automatic transmissions fails to disengage after driving long distances. The car stalls, and needs to rest for about 45 minutes.

I paid $40.00 for it. I guess I get what I pay for. I had to put in a new starter when I first got it. The guys at Autozone let me use their parking lot 'cause it would not start to get it home. I also put on a new windshield (about $100.00) because I think the heat warped and cracked it.

Stereo could use some more umph.

Other than the previous owner no treating the car nicely, works great!

i love the fact that there are 2 guys in town with 2000 z24's, one standard and the other one auto, that saw the back of my car the first night i brought it to town(we went for a nice legal drive on the highway), my car has 110000 kms' on it and it's kinda burnt, i cant keep up the 99' neons. oh and it doesnt shut off at 175kmph,

Weakness:

keeps running over caviliers after they shut off, i love passing them doing about 220 kmph:)

i only paid 5000 for my neon, which the only way it wouldnt beat a cavalier is falling off a cliff! only buy one if you are looking for yard fill

This car is cheap! Saves you money on gas and is even sporty looking! It doesn't require much "fixing".

Weakness:

Sometimes it rides bumpy, and for some reason my muffler always goes out within a few months. The radio (speakers) suck.

I paid 3,200 for my cavalier. It had a little rust, which is now more rust, and i don't like that. But a farmer had this car before, and he trashed it so it wasn't my fault. The only problems i had with the car was the muffler and one time a gasket leaked. Overall though it's an awesome first time car. It's great for any 16 year olds out there. I'll miss it dearly, (I sell it tomorrow.) Mine was a 5 speed too, but I thought that was cool! Chevy rocks!

Styling

This car is a very economical buy, even though the 2.2 liter 4 banger only makes 95 hp, it is worth it if you want good fuel economy. The interior is very shabby because it looks like everything is constructed of cheap plastic. The interior cabin room is also very small and only kids can fit in the rear seat. I paid around 4k for mine a few years ago with 30k miles on it. If you want good fuel economy at the expense of performance and features this is your car.
