Lumina Z-34
Strength:
This car has unbelievable "get up and go", especially for something so big. Lots of headroom for a taller driver...still with the sports car appeal. Very spacious for a 2-door. The trunk is huge and can handle all my stereo equipment with room left over.
Weakness:
Braking requires some getting used to, and even then it's a pain. The engine area is impossible to work in...took me about 4 hours just to remove the starter! I would definately recommend this car to anyone that wants a sports car without giving up all of the comforts of a sedan. As far as looks and practicality go, you'd be hard pressed to find a better vehicle. This car is a looker from bumper to spoiler, and the hood vents in between. A must have if you want power, but need more room than a Camaro! Similar Products Used: I had a 90 Lumina Euro...and it pales in comparison to my Z-34. |

Very good on the road. A lot of control. Fast acceleration. Hits 0-60 in 8.5 seconds. Thats not bad for a sedan.Top speed of 120mph.
Weakness:
cheap cup holders/ash trays. I recomend it because you get a sport and a sedan car in one package. All for one price. If you like a sporty sedan this car is perfect. Similar Products Used: Honda Accord----About the same except for exeleration lumina is better |

Strength:
dependable, good acceleration, decent interior room
Weakness:
weak defroster, cheap cup holders, boring to drive, no fold-down rear seats The car has over 76,000 miles on it. I inherited it from my dad 2 years ago with 33,000. Changed the brakes front and rear, and replaced the front set of tires (with Pirellis) - that's it. It has a cheap cupholder which I broke off, and had to pay $40 to replace. It's a boring car, but has never failed me. It accelerates well, and it feels like a solid car. The rear seats don't fold down, so trips to the home improvement store can be a chore. The defroster takes a long time to clear the rear window. Overall, I am satisfied with the car. If all you are looking for is reliable transportation than I would recommend the car to you. Similar Products Used: honda accord, suzuki x-90 - both of these were more fun to drive, but I'd rather be in the Lumina in a crash |

Lumina LTZ
Strength:
LTZ comes with the 3800 engine. Strong engine, good pickup when needed. It has 4 wheel disc brakes. At over 70,000 miles, haven't done a thing to the auto except normal maintenance (changed oil). Only one thing under warranty, the power steering pump was replaced. The Lumina is very reliable automobile. 100,000 miles before first tune-up. The dash isn't too cluttered with unnecessary stuff, easy to read.
Weakness:
Brakes are weak. The front pads have been replaced twice, with one destroyed rotor (passenger side rotor replaced). Just recently replaced the rear pads. Brakes stop the auto without problems and within standard limits, but feel mushy. However, the brakes aren't mushy, just feel that way. Ride could be better on bad road surfaces, but excellent on good road surfaces. I would recommend the Lumina (except it has been deleted from Chevy's line-up) as long as a buyer gets either the LS or LTZ version. The standard Lumina (had a standard Lumina when the dealer had to replace the steering pump) and I thought the steering was too loose. It didn't have a good feel. But for the price (we got several additional things on the Lumina, driving up our purchase price, the original price was 19,500, less than 20,000), the Lumina is an excellent buy. Lumina 3.1

I just bought this car after looking at Hondas and Toyotas in the same price range and about the same age, and I was at first struck by the fact that there was no body rust at all. This car definitely holds true to the experience I have had with Chevys being some of the more durable cars on the road. Also, considering the driving I do (bought it with 99K on it in mid-August, now it's about 106K and it's not even December yet), it gets good gas mileage and it's fun to drive. The power isn't bad, and I find it really comfortable. I'm actually fairly impressed with my stock Delco tape deck audio system -- it handles my music well with a respectable amount of bass. The A/C works great, and it doesn't take long for the heat to warm up on cold winter mornings. Finally, I have to say that although some people weren't big on the exterior styling, I actually like it.
Weakness:
I've had a lot of problems with this car in the couple of months that I've had it, all because of a blown head gasket. The engine was rebuilt in 1997, and the mechanic who did the work didn't do a terribly great job. To add to the mess, my mechanic couldn't figure out what was causing the problems and didn't notice the head gasket until it had gotten over $500 worth of misc. repairs. Since the only problems I've had have been a result of the blown head gasket, I would still recommend this car as relatively reliable. It hasn't been as flawless as my mom's '93 Toyota Corolla, but for an American car, it's been pretty good. All the Japanese cars I looked at for about $2000 were a heck of a lot older than '92 and they had crap for an engine, crap for a body, or a little bit of both. All in all, a good car, even though it will end up having cost me more like $3500 (still a comparatively good deal). I would recommend this car for families or students who are looking for affordable and reliable American transportation. Make sure a mechanic you trust thoroughly checks the engine first before you buy. Similar Products Used: '87 Chevy Monte Carlo LS 5.0 - I actually like the power better in my Lumina over the Monte's V8. It may be because of the car's size. |

Lumina Euro 3.1
Strength:
It is extremely tough. At 150,000 I bought it and ran it for 5 months with a blown head gasket. wrecked it 4 times but it still held on. I literally ran the piss out of this car for 1 year straight. You name it the Lumina has done it and it still runs. Handled good before I wrecked it, good on gas and has comfortable seats. It has a pretty strong transmission (after the way I drove the car the transmission proved to hold up quite well.)
Weakness:
Bad breaks, bad electrical system, not enough power for large car, expensive parts. I paid 2200 for it and I would recomend it to any teenager for a dependabe strong first car, but I would never buy another one. Similar Products Used: Ive driven a 1992 nissan maixma and the maxima outperforms the Lumina and has twice the style, but i dont think the maxima could withstand the abuse the Lumina took. Drove a 95 thunderbird V8, it also outperforms the lumina . |

Very dependable. I got this car two years ago with 92k on it, and now it has 150k. I haven't had and major work done on it, just basic maintainance. It's got a pretty strong engine in it; enough to keep it's own on the highway with ease. It's a good car to drive long distances in. I've driven this car hard and it still hasn't died. It's been pretty good as fas as gas mileage goes, getting about 25-30 mpg on the highway and 21-25 mpg in the city. I've slid this car sideways down major highways and driver awayjust fine. I've hit small deer and all I got was a busted head light. These cars just don't die that easily.
Weakness:
No cups holders really does suck. Standard stereo works, but that's about it. Mine was replaced shortly with an in-dash cd deck. Car tends to slide when wet. I would definately recommend this car to anyone looking for a cheap reliable car that's fun to drive. Similar Products Used: None |

Well, where should i start. The first thing that really sucks about this car is that there is no cup holders, I don't know what these other people are saying about that they get good gas milege, my car only gets about 11-16 m/g and on the highway i get at max, 20 m/g. Also, I've had to put over 1000 dollars into it and the power windows constantly break. don't buy it Similar Products Used: Any car that isn't american is better |

First of all, all the people who say the 4 wheel discs are undersized, have some problems. These brakes can stop on a dime. Strong engine, although only rated at 140bhp, you wouldnt know it under acceleration. The handling is excellant, taking turns at 50 is some things other cars can't do. DELCO stereo is AWESOME!!!!
Weakness:
No cupholders...This is the only thing wrong with it, that and the rear sticking caliper, which was repaid to all Lumina owners up to 50% of what the job costed. My parents bought this car about 1996, and it had 70,000 on it, and now it's mine. I would reccomend this car to anyone who is a family man, but likes speed and handling. To all who have Luminas, or are thinking about getting one, dont let the brakes scare you away, they are the best brakes I have ever saw.... Similar Products Used: It is about the same as a Beretta, only heavier, and a tid bit slower...It'll for sure beat a Stock 3.8 Mustang in the 1/4. |
