lumina euro sedan 3.4 liter
Strength:
roomy, powerful engine, power everythin, sporty design for type of car
Weakness:
had to replace car as soon as a got it, put high end pads on it and have no problems since. replaced the alt. although i think i played a part in killen it since i have a compitition stereo system in it, the cruise doesn't work, and the power locks are tempramental paid $6,000 for it, had 52,000 miles on it, the body is in really good shape but the people who had it before me had trouble smokin. There's quite a few burn holes. Their is no lack of power from the engine which makes it fun to drive but not fun at the gas station. The car is great for long trips and is pretty fun to drive for a bigger car, i'm 17 and i enjoy to drive it. Just make sure you keep good brake pads on it cause this car is notorious for eatin pads up. Not a car for driven in the big city but still someone lookin for a reliable sporty sedan should check it out Similar Products Used: '89 cavalier had 120,000 miles on it and the body was about perfect, headgasket was goin so the car had to too :( . |

Chevy Lumina Z-34
Strength:
Gets up and goes when you have to. Good traveling car. Has lots of room in the trunk. And lots of room in the cab. Extremly reliable. Handles great on dry roads. Cool spoty looks. Power house!!!
Weakness:
Rather expensive to fix. Clicking noise coming out of the front end when I back up and hit the brakes. Handles terrible in the rain. Very tight engine compartment. I won't even begin to work on it!!! Paid $4,000 for it used. Had 92,000miles on it and I put over 9,000 miles on it in 5 months because I travel alot. I would reccomend it to anyone that likes a fast, sporty, big car and who doesn't mind putting money into a car when it breaks. One steel pipe on my car broke and costs 29.00 just for the pipe. I would depend on this car before anything else that is for sure. Similar Products Used: 1988 Plymoth Sundance...the Z-34 puts the Sundance to the junk yard. (Where it is!) Much, much, much more powerful! Roomier and better looking! Sorry sundance owners... |

Corporate lease car that will be replaced soon
Weakness:
Poor seating, wishey-washey steering and suspension, unsafe brakes, coarse sounding engine. This car is unsafe at any speed over 20 mph. It is a chore to keep it between the lines on an expressway. There is way too much torque steering. The driver's seating is uncomfortable for anyone over 6' tall and is too low. The car developed a creaking sound in the front suspension at 2000 miles. The fuel economy has only been about 17 mpg. No one should buy this car; General Motors should pay people to drive it. 1 Star is unfortunately the lowest rating - this car is a minus 5! Strength:
Lots of get up and go power. Never been beat in a stoplight to stoplight race. Ran with my friends 94 Mustang 5.0. Plenty of leg room and gobs of trunk space. Kicken Bose stereo. The 3.4 is a very quick and realiable motor.
Weakness:
The brakes suck bad. Needs to have better suspension for fast cornering. Very hard to work on (when needed to). If you want a car with tons of V-6 power and good reliability then the Lumina Z-34 is the car for you. Make sure that you have some money when you go to repair the motor because it'll be expensive. Chevy made some killer motors and the 3.4 is no excepsion. Similar Products Used: Ford Thunderbird, Pontiac Grand Prix GTP |

Strong engine, reliable
Weakness:
Paid to much for the car. The more I looked at the car the uglier it became. It is a very well made car. Never had to worry about it starting in the morning. Loads of room. Good starter family car. Don't ever buy a car from Bill Heard Chevrolete if you don't know the buisness. They do know there job well. Paid way to much for the car. Learned that after I became a car salesman. Couldn't stay one for long. Hit the internet before you buy a car please. Similar Products Used: 92 Chevy Cavalier |

Has a nice engine, and will go when you have to push it. Nice big trunk.
Weakness:
Brakes, Brakes, Brakes. Had to replace numerous parts of other subsystems in the car. See below for details. Gas mileage is bad. I get about 12 to 13 MPG in the City. On the Highway I get about 18 to 19MPG. I bought it used with 64,444 miles on it. I currently have about 72,598 on it. In the three years that I have had it I have had to replace: Similar Products Used: None |

3.1L Euro
Strength:
Excellent car for the money, we bought ours in '95, for $11k with 20k miles, now 70k miles later it still runs like when first purchased. Very roomy interior for a car of its size. Many power features, all in working order. Adequate power on the highway.
Weakness:
Glove box entirely too small and mostly worthless. A cupholder would be nice for trips to the office in the morning. Brakes were very poor, had to replace pads AND CALIPERS, just rec'd notice of a class action suit so maybe I can recoup some of the money. Had a problem with front halfshaft seal, needed repair. We initially purchased this car as an affordable family car (replacing a sportscar once the baby came on board). Since, we have bought a new minivan. Rather than trading in the car for something sportier, we have enjoyed the car so much we decided to keep it. Have seen similar Euros for sale around $3800 recently, I believe the car is worth this price (possibly even more depending on the condition of the vehicle). Similar Products Used: As I recall, the price was slightly lower than some of the similar class vehicles (Taurus, Chrysler, Accord, Camry), good bang for the buck. |

Strength:
Good acceleration and mileage(20-24 city 25-28 highway). Lots of room inside and trunk. Good A/C and heater/defrost. Factory AM/FM Stereo OK.
Weakness:
Rear brakes are of poor design and quality. Transmission needs to be redisgned to last longer. High-mounted 3rd rear brake light blocks drivers view of traffic from behind. Needs to be moved! Trunk leaks-NOT wrecked! For 300 bucks this was an absolute steal!! Only 120,000 miles with some wear and tear. Not pretty-plain dark blue 2-door with luggage rack on trunk. NOT a Euro or Z34. Standard coupe. Blackwall tires with no hubcaps--almost looks like an older undercover car. Front bounces a bit on rough bumps. Rear brakes/calipers rattle EXCEPT when applying the brakes. Smooth engine but hard to work on. GM had the right idea but didn't pay attention to details. Dashboard top pulling up away from windshield defrost vents in the center. Similar Products Used: ANY imported car beats this in quality but this thing has a lot of power and room. |

Strength:
The body, comfortable plush interior, smoothness in how the vehicle rides, and the "get up and go" that the vehicle has on the highway and on hills.
Weakness:
Many weaknesses. This vehicle has been in the garage many times for mechanical problems. The sun visor on the driver side fell off, and the glove compartment would not shut. THe air conditioning also blew air that was not cold. Also, the engine has a light tap to it when it is in park. The gear shifter also makes loud noises when we shift. over $18,000, i would not recommend buying a Lumina without an Extended Warranty Similar Products Used: 1992 Ford Taurus; the Ford Taurus was the best car we ever owned, never had any problems like the "Lumina Lemon". |
