I have really enjoyed owning this car. I have only had mine for a few weeks now but it has made me a happy man. It drives great with the 3.1 liter V-6 (A big difference from my 4 cylinder Chevy Nova.) It is a great looking car and has the size to make you feel better on the road.
Weakness:
I have noticed that breaks are going to be a problem. But other than that nothing much. I only paid $3,200 for my 92' and it had 76,000 miles on it. I think I got a great deal. I would recommend this car to someone my age(20) who wants something dependable and something that demands respect from other drivers on the road. Similar Products Used: First mid size car |

fairly cheap car, think the 3.1 offered a little more than the others at the time of purchase. Did i mention it was cheap. handles fairly well. have 160k on it.
Weakness:
brakes are terrible, seats are fairly uncomfortable, windshield slope really cuts into the front pillars limiting the room to get in and out. paid 12,000 in 96 with 16k on it. thought it was a little much but really needed to get rid of other car. I drive it at least 60 miles a day to work and back. handles well in the winter, and never any problems with the cold. Have had some mechanical problems. Tranny went at 90k. lowwer ball joints went at 60k, uppers at 90k. Been through three sets of shocks/struts, two sets of brakes, changed the front hub assemblies(wheel bearings) at 140k, the a/c compressor pulley leaked and req. changing at 130k. Done all routine mait. change oil every 3000, plugs & wires every 50k, tranny fluid every 70k, not counting tranny replacement. Over all not bad, but dont see myself getting another. I boughted from my dad who was the first owner, and there had never been anything wrong with the engine nor the transmission, very safe, very strong, the price is more than adequate.
Weakness:
The front of the car is too big and heavy, and sometimes when you are coming off a ramp, the node will hit the ground, the brakes are very loud too. Other than that it is fine. I bought it in march 1998 for $11,000 with 13,000 miles, and I would recommend this car to anyone, from my brother to my mother! Strength:
Very dependable, sensible, respectible. This car has held up it's end of the deal very well. I bought it early 2000 with only 36,000 miles for $6,000. It's a very nice, dependable "get from point A to point B" car. It's got a little bit of guts for a family sedan. Good acceleration, comfortable, ample storage.
Weakness:
Brakes are sqeaking constantly. Car doesn't stop very quickly (brakes are too small for size of car). Front End feels like it's going to rattle apart when I go over bumps or turn corners (could be the struts). But considering the way that I drive it, it stands up fairly well. I'd recommend this car to almost anyone. MAKE SURE YOU BUY THE EUROSPORT MODEL!!! Non-EuroSport cars seem to have more trouble the EuroSport models. If your looking for a sensible, well thought out car, this could be it. If your looking for horsepower and eye-catching aero styling, look elsewhere. Similar Products Used: 1991 Olds. Strong engine, but not as strong as my Taurus SHO was.
Weakness:
Seats. I have the best leather seats available. They are barely acceptable, but I wouldn't want to drive over 250 miles a day in them. Paid $12,400 in October of 1998 for a car with 29,700 miles in excellent condition. Great car for my purposes (I am a rural physician subspecialist and travel between several rural hospitals). Plenty of power for passing on twisty 2 lane country highways. Good handling, even in wet weather, stops fairly well-certainly within the bounds of safety and good control(ABS). Seats are adequate, but I would like more and firmer padding (I am 51 years old). For my needs, I wantedc a car with god brakes, handling, and adequate power for passing farmers on their tractors, while being safe and dependable for family transportation. Thjis car hits the mark on the button. (It is not nearly as much fun to drive as my 1990 Taurus SHO was - but it is a lot more dependable) Similar Products Used: This is not the "GoKart" my Taurus SHO was - but for ist intended use of dependable highway transportation, it is excellent. NO nearly as hard on the tires as the SHO. |

This is a very cheap car! =)

Brakes/Extreme old look/Quality/Noisy Engine I bought a new 1997 Chevy Lumina and the sticker was $17,637.I paid $15,157 after negotiating. Although this was back in 1997, I thought that the look of this car was really out dated compared to other models. (Im even surprised that Chevrolet hasn't changed it by now). But after being convinced by my wife, I got it. The first seven months of taking delivery, this car was pretty impressive for what I paid. But all good things come to an end loll! Nearing the end to the 8 months, I noticed that the engine was becoming noisier. I take good care of my cars, and the engine was loud. The brakes as well. Apart from them being squeaky, there reeeeally something =( ! The interior space of this vehicle is very tight. My Taurus has more room as far as interior and trunk space is concerned. I cant recommend this car to people who want a roomy mid-sized car or a nice looking car. If your willing to pay more, you should look at other models from Toyota,Ford,VW, or Volvo. I do however realize that some families budgets are tight. This car is a good value for the low price compared to the Hyundai models. Similar Products Used: 1997 and 2000 Taurus =) great car! |

Low maintenence, good interior space, has held it's value very well.
Weakness:
The brakes - four undersized disk (anti-stop) Highly recommend this car for a mid-sized family sedan. The brakes will hold up if you spend a little more for high quality pads but I still have them checked a couple of times a year. We've gone 125,000 miles with all original power train, which is truly something if you consider my driving, and exhaust. It's got good highway manners with a smooth ride and comfortable handling even in bad weather. It handles adequately in the city though I would like a little more power off the lights and a shorter stopping distance. It even looks good (good paint, not a spot of rust anywhere). The stereo is even well above average for a stock setup. I paid $12,000 in 1995. Now 113,000 miles and three children later, it is still worth a good chunk of that. This car has more than paid for itself. Similar Products Used: Mercury Sable - yuck. |

Weakness:
There are no cup holders which gets annoying on trips. The brakes have been squeaking and grinding since I got it. Gas mileage could be better 15 city/27 highway. Guage layout is average at best. For someone using it strictly in a city this car is rather big. In July 1998 I paid $8000, because it had only 35,000 miles on it. I think that was a little overpriced, but I have put on 25,000 miles since then and other than gas and routine maintenence I haven't spent a dime on it. Generally the Lumina will cost less than the Pontiac or Olds counterparts and although it may not have all the bells and whistles of those it is a very solid well built car. I would recommend it to somone looking for a good midsize car. Similar Products Used: Ford Taurus/Mercury Sable I have friends with both, and in durability and ride comfort I would prefer the Lumina |

This car's drive-ability has been excellent. At 122,000 miles the car is still tight and rust free. The exhaust system has yet to be replaced, although it will need to be soon. The brakes, although they have always made a grinding noise that the mechanic says is normal, have lasted as long as I've owned it (5 1/2 years, 74,000 miles). The AC is still ice cold.
Weakness:
The heater core has been replaced, the transmission has been rebuilt(just now), one of the power windows has quite working, and the ABS hasn't worked for years. I paid $10,125 in 1995. It has made a good family car and I would buy another one. I would recommend one to someone looking for a car with the amenities of an expensive car, but with the price of a Chevy. Similar Products Used: I've had cars that were better mechanically but few that are as comfortable. |

Brakes suck. Always have. They make a lot of noise (squeaking and squealing) and don't stop very well. I've had them checked out a couple of times but nothing is wrong. They're just like that Love the engine in this car. The 3.4L dohc is FANTASTIC! Transmission has been great too. 92,000 miles and five years so far and I haven't had a single mechanical problem with the engine or transmission yet. I haven't even changed the battery.
