Not an attitude car!!!

Weakness:

Seats are padded a bit thin...use a towel to thicken up.

9700....yes. just don't waste money on any extended warranty OK?

Strength:

The 3.1 V-6 is strong, smooth and gets excellent mileage. Transmission is smooth and dependable.I really like the way it steers. Feels the same at stop or 70mph. Well made as opposed to other GM products I've owned.

Weakness:

The four wheel disc brakes are junk! Constantly having problems with them such as sticking rear caliper, squealing brakes even with new pads and mushy feeling brake pedal
GM should be embarrassed by the design of these brakes

I got a great deal on this car for 6300 in 1996 so even with the brakes it has been a good car. Has never left me stranded and starts up in any weather or temperature.
I would suggest this type of car to someone that wants reliability and dependability so long as you can live with the poor design of the disc brake system.

Brakes!!!!! This car eats breaks like crazy!

9,000 was way overpriced in this area for the brake work needed done. 3.1 Engine gives good pick up. Car would be worthwhile and dependable if the brakes worked better. As a Chevy owner, I am disappointed in the problems with the brakes.

Strength:

roomy interior, easy to get parts for, reliability, good V6 engine, nice to drive

Weakness:

lack of cupholders or power window lockouts or child proof rear door locks (odd omissions on Chev's bread and butter family car, the "Official car of Disneyland")

I'm on my second Lumina Euro, so I guess I like them. Yes, I do. Be sure to get the Euro version, the base Lumina isn't enough car. With the right tires and good struts and a tight front end, this large car can ride smooth yet handles very well (for a big car, that is) I like the smooth reliable 3.1 V6, 3.4 has more power and is very smooth, but more maintenance required. After owning one and loving its size, I'll never go back to small, noisy Japanese cars again.

Bad brakes. Engine didn't stand up. Spent close to 3,000 in repairs. Needed new fuel injector, fuel pump, water pump, computer, air conditioning, and guage cluster, brakes.

Strength:

powerfull motor.execellant A.C. perectly placed electric trunk opener (under drivers side dash and not in glove box)

Weakness:

It's a throw away car

at 100,000 miles everything went on it! fuel ingectors, master cylinder,3 calipers, windshied busted twice while the car was warming up,power controls for the windows, the trunk leaked water and rusted out the bottom of it,the dash was almost invisible at night, one coil pack went out and less than 100 miles after the first one was replaced another one went out,and then the sub frame broke but not to worry it was covered under a recall and only took a quick six months to replace it and alot of yelling at Iron Trail Motors in Virginia,MN With there uncooperative attitudes. I was told it was a GM problem not theres.they are a certified GM dealer. Imagine that! I finally did get the car back and drove it for one week and then hit a deer.damage was minimal but the tranny went out two weeks after that.the car is currenty for sale for parts only.

Strength:

Good looks for a coupe, sleek. Handles like a dream. Quick for a 3.1 V-6.
31 mpg highway.
I am 6'3 and have plenty of leg room.
Simple interior easy to read dash and comfortable seats.
Good ride.

Weakness:

No Where to mount a cup holder. Had some problems with the aftermarket brake pads. They either came off the mount plate or wore out prematurely. But this is not the fault of GM. Had to replace a couple of rotors (maybe the inspection didn't catch it?)

This car has been a VERY good auto for me. I can't complain about it's reliability...other than obviously the brakes.
This would be a great car for a small family or anyone that wants a fairly good looking car at a moderate price.
This car 'runs' good but it's not a speed demon. It will corner with a camaro but it won't keep up with one.
All told...considering the gas mileage, handeling, excellent engine and almost trouble free 150,000 miles--very good car. I'll keep it till it falls apart.

Strength:

Engine

Weakness:

Seating, brakes

Bought the car in 1997 with a 132,000 miles on it. Have driven it daily for over 3 years. I'm comming up on 200,000. The engine is still strong. The transmission went out at 160,000 miles. Replaced it with used trasmission with 80,000 miles. Car runs great.

The seating is not the most comfertable, but the value for the price is good. I bought the car in a pinch and I can't bring myself to get rid of it.

The Lumina is not the best looking or most comferteable car on the market but if you want a reasonably priced car that will last a long time with routing maintence only, this is the one.

PS I'm thinking of going to 1998-2001 Intrepid. Is the transmission really that bad? Please respond.

Packs enough punch to leave the Porsche behind on green light. Just did it.
In summer I kept a windsurfer on back seat. Sapienti sat.
Lots of space for a tall driver.
Quality metal. Have seen one of them wrecking a pickup and leaving with scratches and broken mirror.

Weakness:

It is hard to brag and boast over it.
Poor gas mileage.

I own this car for about a year. Never had a slightest problem with it.
Spent $0.0 in repairs so far and about $120 in maintenance.
I love that car. I would buy it again and I would recommend it to my best friend.
