Strength:
Smooth riding, comfortable inside, good stereo system, good trunk size, like the looks on the outside.
Weakness:
Squeaky brakes, crackling sound as I turn left. Good, very good. There is a crackling sound as I turn left, Firestone can not find the source of the sound. Brakes squeak sometimes but work fine.No major problems, only regular maintnance. Similar Products Used: Sunbird. Lumina offers a much smoother ride, more room on the inside. |

Strength:
Speed, can keep right up with a 1993 Camero iroc-z. Room, can fit 3 friends easily. Trunk is nice and big. the looks are awesome. SPEED
Weakness:
The last owner must have neglected the car. It has a lot of small breaks, and that timing belt break broke my wallet. I looked far and wide for one of these cars in my price range. I ended up getting an absolute steal on the car. My car's history is already tainted buy breakdowns. The first day i had it the timing belt blew, so i had to replace that(750$). Next an anti-freeze tube started to leak, breaks squeek, and since the tires out are of allignment, the rear ones went bald. Similar Products Used: compared to 88, 93 and 95 taurus. Has better handling and far better speed then the taurus. 2001 malibu LS, much faster than the Malibu, but ride is not quite as smooth. |

Strength:
I love then engine, great exhaust note. Huge trunk, Personally, i like the gauge cluster... comfortable seating, and I really like the Euro steering wheel.
Weakness:
brakes, it likes to rust out by the front wheel wells. I love this car, I bought it from a guy I work with who babied it, and it runs GREAT. Got a new engine in 1994 @60,000mi because of the recall, and new paint in 1996. I love this car, I have taken many roadtrips in it, and it stays comfortable, good mileage too. I've got a 3.1, and this car hauls considering how big it is, how many cars can go 120 MPH with 4 friends riding along?? I've only got the 3-speed tranny, but I like it, shifts smooth under normal driving conditions Similar Products Used: First car was a 1984 CHevy Celebrity, the car the Lumina replaced. They are two totally different cars, I hated the Celebrity, bad ride, slow engine, UGLY, but the Lumina a completely different. I love my Lumina!! |

Roomy for passengers and myself
Weakness:
loud enigine, bad suspension(front) brakes didn't impress me I give this car a rating of 2 because I've had nothing but problems with this car. I've owned this car for two months and it's been in the shop three times and has been a big hassle. I just had the pistons replaced at 30,000 miles and the engine still rattles. Chevy Lumina Euro 3.1L
Strength:
The motor is pretty powerful, but it can only squeal the tires on brand new tar or around a turn (if a car cant tear out, i dont drive it) The stock system was pretty good in it but i wanted more so i put two 12" subs with a 400 watt amp, two kenwood 6x9's with a 110 watt amp, a pioneer cd player head unit, and two 240 watt 4x6's up front (that will soon have another amp. i also put those xenon superwhite bulbs in it, they are the coolest thing i have done to it, they only were like $20. i tinted the windows, and put a few chevy stickers on it.
Weakness:
This car has the 3.1 and it will be alright for a person that just needs to drive, but i am sick of getting wasted at the stoplight by cars i thought i would waste. I has a major problem of RUST!! that is our latest project, fixing all the rust. another problem is that the back end of it sags, the struts are out or something. the catylic convertor is also bad, it sounds really bad idling. everyone always complains about there being no cupholders, but i just threw in a center counsel. the interior is impossible to clean. the tranny takes forever to shift (its not a manual). I bought this car really cheap from my dad. He is a mechanic and the motor was totaled. He bought it for $800, but it needed a lot of TLC. We worked on the motor, brakes, suspension. it is worth about $3500 now with the system in it. i wanna sell it for a older camaro with a 350. the car is holding up real good since then, and believe me, i beat the crap out of this car!!! the only thing i have wrecked is the front grill from ramming a snow bank. Similar Products Used: I would compare it to a gran prix (same motor) or a cavalier. |

Strength:
Fuel economy (especially when on cruise), space, power, a/c (still blew cold after 11 years), good handling, huge trunk, no rust at all.
Weakness:
Standard: no cup holders, brakes always felt soft, driver side seat somewhat uncomfortable on long journeys (seems standard for any vehicle) An excellent car, with highway passing power and plenty of room. I was teased relentlessly about this being an old man's car. They usually had nothing to say when I drove them around; there cars were in the shop! It was totalled in an accident and I have been looking specifically for another Lumina. In the 8 months that we were together, there was no problems to speak of... Similar Products Used: None |

Lumina LTZ
Strength:
Subtle but menacing looks, loads of room, quality ride, and great power. Gets great gas mileage my last tank I got 31 mpg. Not bad for a big V-6.
Weakness:
Can't think of any. After looking for months and deciding on either the Accord or Malibu, I noticed this bright RED Lumina on the dealers lot. Took it for a test drive and the decision was made. I bought the Lumina. It has sporty looks, massive amounts of horsepower, good low end torque (for those quick takeoffs from a stoplight). The interior is some what plain, but it has everything you need A/C, good sounding CD, and easy to read gauges. I have owned several muscle cars from the 60's and this Lumina will give any a run for their money. The Series II 3.8 V-6 offers everything and more you could need for performance. Just drop in a K&N filter put a cat-back exhust with Flowmaster mufflers and you have a performance sedan that will surprise all the Camaro's, Firebirds, and easily pull away from the 5.0 mustang. The ride is quiet and smooth. If any one is looking for a roomy sedan that will just rip up the streets, look no further than the Lumina LTZ. Similar Products Used: Accord, Malibu, and the Dodge Stratus. No comparison, the Lumina out powers, more room, and looks like a car you want people to see you driving in. |

Strength:
The gas mileage is great. Close to 30 mpg on the road, and also very good in town. We like the standard transmission, and the Bose stereo system sounds great! The ride is very comfortable.
Weakness:
High repair costs and absolutely no working room in the engine. Can't even replace the 3 back spark plugs without taking it in to a shop. This car has lots of power and is great looking. The cost of repairs is very high. We have had the vehicle for 3 years and have spent at least $3,000 on repairs, the latest being $500 to replace the back brakes. It now has 85,000 miles and we're thinking about getting rid of it, because repairs are so expensive. We've had to replace the slave cylinder for the clutch, the starter, the alternator, the timing belt, the front brake rotors, and the suspension bar for the rear axle. Similar Products Used: Chevy Beretta. Much more comfortable ride, more trunk space. |

Caprice Classic
Strength:
187K miles and going, Cheap insurance premium ,seats hold up well, interior is in good shape except for dash cracking, LOTS and LOTS of room, 5 liter V8 has decent acceleration, semi-smooth tranny shifts, somewhat reliable though not without minor problems, good ride but a little too cushy for me. floor the gas and hold on for the ride but beware (see below). longevity
Weakness:
Stodgy image (poor old man's car who can afford a Buick), low (18 mpg) gas mileage, GM cut corners in build quality. Not as reliable as a Honda Accord, more body roll than a Richard Simmons "fan", transmission sometimes shifts in and out of gears as if it cant make up its "mind", A/C system was replaced last year and still doesnt work right, very slow power windows (15 seconds to get all the way up), body jiggles and squeaks, wind noise pronounced over 50 mph, dash is cracking from 16 yrs in sun, original paint job cracked and peeled at 70K miles, new paint @ 100K miles and looks brand new, doesnt like to be driven hard (something will leak or quit if you floor the gas a few times or cut corners at a high speed), Sloppy handling, not a "cheap" BMW like the Mystique (see below) so dont it wont handle like one. I suspect it will really start going to heck at about 220K miles. I know this is the Lumina listings but this is the only spot avaliable to put a Caprice (its similar to the Lumina anyway I guess) Similar Products Used: 1982 S10 pickup--310K miles and time to get rid of it (should have done that at 290K miles), same quality, same as far as interior holding up after all this time. However reliability is spotty, leaks oil like crazy, its a truck so it doesnt really compare with a car. |
