Strength:
Engine has decent power, good styling which is what suckered my wife into wanting it.
Weakness:
Too many things going wrong for the number of miles. This really ticks me off since I am really good about changing fluids and filters earlier than Chevrolet recomends. Bought this car new in 98 and have had problems ever since. Have replaced both headlights, both side mirror motors, battery, bushings in rear end, head gasket. Getting ready to replace front brakes for the third time which is crap since car only has 60,000 on it. Got rid of junk Firestone Affinity tires, flats and low on air constantly.My kid loves to give me a bad time since her 91 Accord is practically trouble free and it has 186,000 miles on it! Will never by a Chevrolet product again, I would hate to get burned twice, maybe my kid would sell me her 91 Accord! Chevrolet's slogan for the Malibu is "The Car You Knew America Could Build" How many more years does the American auto industry want to get crushed by the Japs?!!! V-6 has great V-8 type acceleration and performance,nice metallic green color & above average gas milage
Weakness:
constantly running hot in traffic,even though dealer made repairs, car constantly cutting off while u-turning & parallel parking.and a very poor quality sound system(even the older cadillac sound systems sounded better)cheap materials for interior fabrics,visor, breaking off fuel gage problems,electical malfunctions. The car is GM's worst excuse of an automobile!!!!!!!!PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!! March 2002: I traded an 81'Eldorado for a 97 Malibu LS ,top of the line,The car was only good for the first month, then it showed why today's chevrolet cars are so pathetic today. now i'm proud to note that i'm driving an 85' Eldorado, currently undergoing restoration!!!!!!!Note:buy a Chevy Truck or an old Caddy they're far more superior than all of the 90's & front-wheel-drive Chevrolet cars!!!!!!!!!! Similar Products Used: None.........Give me an old Cadillac anytime!!!!!!!!Chevy cars are just not what they used to be even the newer Cadillacs are not as cheap & flimsy!!!!! |

I like its acceleration!!!!!
Weakness:
it needs more sport kits... This car is great. Many reviews wrote that there Malibu's are giving them alot of problems! I have not yet seen any problem. Similar Products Used: May be, toyota camry 2001, honda accord 2001 but there are alot of differnces between the great Malibe and the Japanies cars |

everything!..great craftsmanship...duw to mexican production!
Weakness:
nothing! This car is a great car. Alot of reviews that people have wrote saying that there Malibu's are giving them alot of problems! I have not yet found on besides the transmission mounth busting but that was due to my hit a deep pot hole in the Mexican Mountain terrain. I high recommend it! Similar Products Used: 2000 Honda Accord...my malibu matches up very good! |

None....even the window tint is uneven.
Weakness:
Poor paint, lost main bearings at 5000Km, 2 blow-outs before 10,000KM, AC has never worked, smells like kerosene when driven on gravel roads, transmission fluid leaks, lost power steering pump at 12500KM, why can't GM come up with a locking gas cap door? This car must be possessed by Satan. The absolute worst pile of junk that has ever been sold to an unsuspecting customer. whomever assembled this car must have been either, A) Drunk, B)Stupid, C)Blind, D) All of the above. Similar Products Used: Nothing...my dead grandma's potato ricer works better an isn't rusty yet...it's 47 years old. |

Poor: front end design It all started with with the SO CALLED normal cold engine ticking getting louder. It has progressed into piston slap. I have 52k miles and have religiously changed the oil every 3k to 3.7k. I am told this is normal!?# Are they kidding. To complicate matters I am losing gas milage and burning a quart of oil between oil changes. ALSO, aside from the front end grinding sound at any speed which no GM mechanic can find and the steering binding on left turns, which also never can be duplicated by the mechanic and the heater never works on 1-2 settings and SHALL I GO ON!!!!! Similar Products Used: Should have kept my 82 Tercel. It had 235k and ran like a CHAMP! |

I think V6-Engine performance exceeds the cheap brake system. Please don't drive your Malibu with its full power. Or it will cost you a bunch of brakes Generally, I satisfied at the performance and the roomy space comparing to the price. But I wouldn't buy any American car rest of my life. I replaced the brake disc right after I purchased it. And after two weeks I realized the coolant is leaking. Is that the dealer's fault not repairing all those defects, or my fault not checking out them? I don't know. Anyway, I didn't buy a waranty even the dealer insisted me to do...now I know why he told me to do so. Similar Products Used: '87 Honda Accord. It ran great even it was only 2.0DOHC. You know why Honda is expensive!!! |

ran okay for a couple of years? (maybe) that's about all I can say. Radio pretty good.
Weakness:
TERRIBLE COOLING SYSTEM, not a car to depend on! That drink holder to the left of the steering wheel......don't turn left too fast!!! If you're looking for a car that lasts----please look elsewhere! It didn't matter that we did all of the recommended maintainance---the car has terrible brakes,leaked battery acid after just a year, the fan motor to the a/c had to be replaced also the altenator, the entire cooling system is now a mess--we've already replaced the water pump and now just a few months later the intake gaskets are leaking,etc. We were told that the dexcool coolant that GM uses would last 100,000 mi. but what they don't tell you is that the parts that contain the coolant DON'T!!!!! My garage floor is a mess!!! Similar Products Used: We own a 1989 toyota celica that is still going!!! It has 180xxx miles! |

Good power, excellent radio, looks good
Weakness:
None so far I have had my MAlibu for 1 year now, and I am pleased with its performance. I have only done routine maintainance, with no major repairs, not even the brakes. My car has 22,000 miles. Maybe Chevrolet has gotten the brake problem fixed, or I just got lucky. Most of my driving is aeound town, so a lot of breaking is reguired, especially in traffic. comfortable, good look, good on traveling long distances

the noice I purchased this car about 2 month ago. I traded in my Honda Civic. Two weeks now I hear some noices comming from the front. Its loud when I am going straight or turning left. Turning right is quitet. Anyone knows what it can be? I took to a garage - they said someting about bearings. Please let me know. Similar Products Used: no, I only had Janapanees cars before |
