Bought an GM optimum vehicle. Car started breaking right after the 6 months warranty was over. Piece of Junk, Service is even worse. I am buying Japanese cars for rest of my life.

Strength:

Good gas mileage, rides comfortable.

Weakness:

To many things that have gone wrong and the dealer does not want to fix.

I have had trouble from the time I drove off the parking lot. The air conditioner did not work. They did not inspect the car as they said. I have had the air conditioner worked on several times. A new shock replaced. The whole control system where the switches are for the air conditioner/heater has been replaced. Front brakes have been replaced at 30,000 miles. Now I have a buzzing sound when I turn the turn signal on or when I turn the steering wheel. Dealer cannot find the problem. Also the fan on the air conditioner makes a funny noise. The battery was replaced after 1 year, leaked acid all over the garage floor.

Strength:

looks, so, so, engine, interior, room, engine responciveness.

Weakness:

terrible breaks, tire wear, engine cooling, engine, "crappy" tranny, too many small problems.

bout the malibu with 63000 kms, numerous break jobs done,,, during racing or higher than normal revs gas smells consistantly. this car is not able to handle high performance rims and rubber. i learned from that,,, if you are looking for a car in the similar class, im bying a nissan maxima,,, try one out. even pre-owned. in the long run it will save the money for you.

Weakness:

Front-end and brakes are terrible.

I bought my car in April of 1999. I have had my front end and brakes replaced 4 times in 3 years and my front-end and brakes have to be completely redone again. I cannot figure out how you can spend so much money and receive such a piece of crap. I would like someone to contact me by email and let me know how I can get my car replaced. Is there some suggestions on who I can contact about this problem?

Strength:

roominess extras power

Weakness:

brakes flooding interior lights brake lights brakes

I have had this car almost 2 years and have had substantial difficulty with it. The interior lights keep going out. The tail lights keep going out. Once the tail light bulbs get replaced they blow again in a number of weeks. Have had the brakes replaced twice. Once at the dealership and once at an independant mechanic. THe alternator has been replaced. Every time it rains the passenger side floor board floods and leaves a standing puddle of water deep enough that there is an actual splash if someone puts there feet in it. I love the look of this car. It's roomy enough to fit 4 comfortably but will hold 5 if need be. I love all the perks.. daytime running lights. My lights come on automatically at dusk. I have radio/cassette/cd, power windows, door locks, seats. Cupholders in the back which were a big selling point for me because whomever is in the back doesn't have to hold thier drink. It has good get up and go ( i have a V6 engine) it handles well on the road. It gets great gas mileage. so all in all i am unsure if the troubles outweigh the perks.

Strength:

Like the look and the size.

I have had problems with my Malibu from day 1. I bought it used-30,000 miles. Brakes are terrible- replaced pads, rotars, blower stopped working, auto locks don't work, windshields wipers don't function correctly, etc. I would never buy one again and would never recommend it. Know mant other Malibu owners with similar problems.

One of the worst brakes I have ever seen, these things are aweful. My Head Gaskets blew before the car even hit 50,000 Major overhaeting problems There was a recall on it, saying that there was a problem with the gas compartmemnt and that it may blow while you drive, wow what a relief!

A good car, but too many problems.

Strength:

Very nice for traveling, rides good, I love the daylights...

Weakness:

25000 headlights were replaced, they fogged up 50000 miles, replaced tailights, they were smoking (shorting out) 64000 miles replaced waterpump 75000 miles replaced rotors (common) 92000 miles, spark plugs 105000 miles, drivers side power window switch 110000 miles replaced pass. side wheel barring & sitll makes a cluncking noise and sounds like something is scrapping on the ground I have looked and there's nothing 110466 miles needs new water pump AGAIN.

My malibu is a great running car. Except for all the items I need to replace.I love this car and I hate to give it up, but I do not have this paid for yet and I am to the point where I am putting as much money in it every other month as I my car payment. I would recomend this car to anyone if it were not for the replacements of parts. I know have 110,000 miles on it and it still gets up and goes...
