Strength:
V6 power, gas mileage, trunk size.
Weakness:
Poor fit and finish, cheap materials all around, lousy controls, inadequate suspension Bought my Malibu after I needed to lower my car payments after trading in my 99 Intrepid. Still Wanted something with some nice options and V6 power. My Mailbu looked great and had leather,CD and Moonroof. I had no problems with the car except that it was low on quality and fit & finish. The suspension was cheap and handled/rode poorly. The interior was squeaking and rattling and had flimsy buttons. The steering wheel was tiny and uncushioned. I adjusted the rear brakes early on (having read all of the problems owners had with brakes) and the brakes worked fine. The acceleration and gas mileage were above average. I have since traded the Mailbu in for a 98 Lumina LTZ and I''m happy I did it. The Lumina is much more solid and handles much better (though the brakes are worse on this than the Malibu). I am a devout GM owner but would recommend prospective buyers to steer clear of the Malibu Similar Products Used: Chevy Lumina, Chevy Monte Carlo, Olds Ciera |

Everything else - BRAKES, BRAKES, BRAKES, having to deal with Chevrolet dealerships and GM. Do not buy a Malibu - or a Chevrolet for that matter! I have had this car for exactly one year. The brake pads and rotors have been replaced four times in the last six months (between 11K and 19K). GM will not issue a recall on a product that obviously has a MAJOR DEFECT!!! The resell value is terrible, but I am seriously considering taking the hit because I know I can''t afford to replace the rotors and brake pads (about $500) every time the oil gets changed. I am also very concerned about the other problems people have had with the engine and transmission. I will never do business with General Motors again. In this case, American is NOT better Similar Products Used: My 1993 Geo Metro runs better than this thing. |

A LOT MORE LIKE CD PLAYER DOES IT WORK (NO!!!!!!!!!!) First new car and last. as to date i have 47k miles on the car. This is with the help of $2700.00 of work done to it. that does not include that i''ve replaced the front brakes myself twice. I thought i was doing something wrong on the brakes they just seem to wear out about ever 15k. well letting the dealer work on them did''nt change any thing. Then theirs the coolent leak (not cheap) now the newest problem just fixed the transmission. not to mention the half o dozen other minor problems. Cant really descibe how upset and mad i am over the whole ordeal. For all the people saying maybe you should take better care of your car (I DID WITH KID GLOVES) and i''d say buy reading other reviews. Your time is coming. but i wish you well. Thiers is always going to be lemons but the dealer needs to stand behind them. Buy the way the dealer i deal with (terrible) the one time i was in 2 days after doing my brakes myself he told me i would need new front brakes in 2k. Brakes I''ve had my malibu for about 6 months and already have had the brakes, rotor, and caliber replaced. I''m afraid to drive it anymore. I want the dealer to replace it or take it back. I feel this is not a fair deal, when you go to buy a new car you expect it to be relaible! All they tell me is that Chevy techicians are working on the problem, how do I know this is true. What do I do if the brakes continue to keep going out past my warranties, then I will be liable to pay for thier mistakes. Similar Products Used: None |

BRAKES, BRAKES and more BRAKES As with the majority of other people, I agree this car is crap. With 50,000 Km (30,000 miles)I have had 5 sets of brake pads, 2 sets of rotors and 1 caliper. The CD player quit, wheel bearings were replaced. I also own a 1992 Accord with 300,000 KM and I feel more comfortable driving it. I finally got GM Canada to admit that they have a problem with the brakes, however they do not plan on redesigning them. Seems like the logical thing to do if you want to go out of business Similar Products Used: None |

Strength:
Smooth ride, controls at your fingertips, easy to use, comfortable seats, lots of head room and leg room. Lots of cargo space. The 60/40 split seats are great for carrying extra cargo or getting something that is really long into your car with ease and still having room for a passenger in the back seat. Styling is beautiful. Perfect size. A car that I am proud to drive. Excellent fuel economy along with comfort and styling, and you have to break the bank, what more can you ask for?
Weakness:
I cannot seem to come up with any weaknesses at this time. The only thing I can say is that when I purchased the car I was told that the brakes needed to be done and they were. This has been raised in other reviews, so I am hoping that this will take care of it. I think that if you take care of your car as you would take care of yourself or someone you love it will take care of you. Abuse it and what do you expect. Again.....SO FAR SO GOOD!!!!!! This is the first new/used car I have ever purchased. I love the car. I have the "get up and go" when I want it and all of the bells and whistles. I have had no problems with the car up to now. The ride is excellent, it feels like you are riding on a cloud. There is no road noise and everything is at your fingertips and easy to use. I love it. For the price I paid, I don''t think that you can go wrong. Even a Ford car salesman told me that I made an excellent deal. Now that speaks volumes!!!!!! Similar Products Used: None |

None I bought this car new. It is a piece of crap. This was my first new car. I have had more problems with it than any other vehicle I have ever owned. The customer service department will not do anything. I will never buy another chevrolet product. I can''t even get a dealership to trade with me without losing 2,000, because the trade in value is so low. When I bought the car I was told that all chevrolets had a good trade in value. I have nothing good to say about the vehicle or the chevrolet company. Similar Products Used: None |
