Strength:

I love the head-turning qualities of this car! It's an attractive machine, and looks good when cleaned up. Fair acceleration, and I love the way it handles on the highway. Definitely a "cruiser".

Weakness:

I've had a few peoblems here and there with things like fuel pump, struts, and, most importantly, the balljoints. CHECK YOURS RIGHT AWAY!

Overall, I pretty nice car. I paid 11,000 a couple years back, and think it was worth it. I'd be careful with it, though, cause there are a lot of hidden opportunities for trouble. This car needs a bit of refining, and it's well on the way to becoming an awesome car.

Very similar to the Grand Prix, a little slower. A lot like the Cutlass

Strength:

Excellent pickup, the overdrive on this car gives it an unbelievable amount of power when you know just when to really step on it. Tight steering and suspension give it a very sporty feel with superb handling for a domestic coupe. Along with the decently wider-than-average tires, these few things altogether give the car a good hold on the road throughout even the most surprisingly tight turns. (given you know how to handle them at faster speeds as well)

Weakness:

Front speaker on the driver's side door panel got a little distorted at one point but I fixed that. The factory installed "Bose" speakers must be the bottom of the line or else Bose car stereo speakers are all horrible, I dont know.

I have had absolutely no problems with this car at all whatsoever! Runs great. Have had since ordering in September of '98, have putover 35,000 miles on it, and it still runs beautifully. Some of you other guys who have written reviews must have just had a lot of bad luck. With the technological advancements in the last few years or so most of the newer cars out on the road today require less maintence than the ones from a decade or more ago. I only need to change my oil about every 7,000 miles of so. I feel bad for some of you others who got the lemons.
Overall this car is very nice inside if you opt for all, or most, of the extras. I completely loaded mine up and let me tell you its a lot more than I ever expected it to be right down to the leather seats and steering-wheel mounted stereo/cd control. I dont know what else to say. If you'd like a fairly well priced/sized car thats pretty sharp and would also like knowing in the back of your head that youve always got a little something to lay your foot and rubber down with, while maintaining a disquise otherwise, then I'd say you've found your match. I know I certainly did!

Strength:

Nice ride when the front struts are still working.
Comfortable interior.

Weakness:

3rd set of struts under 45k miles and the passengers side needs replacing.
Have been through 3 different shops to replace them.

I would not recommend this year or other similar years. I have had more things replaced on it especially (if you haven't figured it out yet) the front struts. They're starting to sound like a popcorn maker again. The engine is a 3.1 and is sluggish especially when passing at higher speeds. I think this is the last Chevrolet I'll buy.

Strength:

-very sleek looking
-dual aluminum exhaust
-sunroof without leaks
-classy luxurious leather interior
-excellent acceleration, 195hp brand new
-torch red exterior, black leather interior
-good winter car with proper tires
-sporty yet comfortable! (even on long trips)

Weakness:

-terrible blind spot over the drivers shoulder
-antennae continually came loose
-cheap wipers
-idled very odd
-battery is in a ridiculous location
-windshield is very expensive to replace
-unexplainedly lost all of the rad fluid at about 45,000kms, never found a reason or any trace of a leak
-had some problems at about 50,000km with nearly everything under the hood, but once the dealer stopped dancing around the problem and fixed it, all was well for the next 100,000Kms.
-First car I ever got a speeding ticket in!

$28,000Cdn. I would definetly recommend a 1997 Z34, except for families in excess of 2 adults. I had compliments on the car right from day 1 until the day I traded.

1995 Buick Regal: similar comparison, but the Regal is far better equipped to handle backseat passengers.
Monte has better acceleration and certainly looks nicer on the outside.

3100 V6 engine/4spd. Auto Trans w/Electronic Overdrive, style, stereo sound

Weakness:

Quality of construction. A luxury car like this should be quiet but mine has had several kinds of squeaks & rattles, noisy windshield wiper motor, and cheap rubber windshield & back window moldings that don't fit perfectly. Also, when the car gets hit, it is expensive to repair. Example, the headlamp assembly itself is alomst $300.

A fairly well-equipped car that feels big on the road and luxurious inside. Unfortunately, it doesn't quite live up to this standard.

Strength:

The 3.8 engine is smooth, powerful and performs well. The transmission shifts very smoothly. Gas mileage is good for a 3300 pound car(32 highway).

Weakness:

The brakes. Too small for the weight of the car. It stops well but every six months the rotors are warped. Very bad design. The 2000's fixed the problem.

Hard to see out the back window.

The car overall is very good. I've had a few minor problems that have been taken care of by the dealer. One major problem was with the rear main bearing seal. It had to be replaced at 20,000 miles. Otherwise the car has been running flawlessly for 26,000 miles. I am going to try slotted rotors to fix the warping problem.

Too bad the supercharged 3.8 wasn't available by Chevy!

Strength:

Power and durability. Looks great too.

Weakness:

No option for cd and cassette.

Paid almost $23,000. It has every option available I think. Z34 with sliding sunroof, cd, leather, 3.8 litre engine. I bought it new and am truning over 40000 miles and have had NOTHING ever go wrong with it. I did not bother the dealer one time while it was in warranty and after discussing it with my wife, we saw nothing weak, so we did not buy extended warranty. From what I hear, the ls model with the smaller engine is much more prone to mechanical problems. Would recommend for anyone except people with small kids and carseats. The back seat is just not that accessible.
