Strength:

Styling, looks like its moving while parked.
Low insurance costs, very important in Queens where most companies want $4000-$5000 and your first born to insure Mustangs, Camaros, etc.

Weakness:

Where to begin?
Brakes: rotors warped at 5000 miles, were fixed and warped again at 12000 miles. Goes through front brake pads crap through a goose.
Ignition/electrical: would have trouble starting from time to time with less than 3000 miles, brought it to dealer and they replaced throttle position sensor under warranty. Same problem occurred within a few months, went back to dealer, they couldn't duplicate problem so no repair. Starting problem didn't occur for over a year and then began again. Went to dealer and again they said they couldn't duplicate problem. Went to different dealer and they basically replaced the entire igniton system under warranty. All was good over 3 yrs when the alternator decided the battery just wasn't getting enough charge so it kept charging it until steam was escaping from two little vent holes at top of battery. Luckily those vent holes prevented a much larger problem, but the alternator needed to be replaced off warranty for $672. Yikes.

Will never buy another Dodge product as long as I live. Cannot wait to get rid of this piece of $#&%.

Model Reviewed: Avenger ES V6

Strength:

Smooth ride, excellent handling, and comfortable seats in every position. Nice tight ride, killer looks, and not everybody and their dog has one - *cough*civic*cough*mustang*cough*

Weakness:

Front STOCK brake rotors warp rather quickly, cross-drilled or slotted last a lot longer. No 5-speed on the v6, front end is too low, and scrapes on many driveways.

Definite recommendation for anyone who isn't concerned as much about 0-60 as they are with good looks, smooth ride, and top-notch handling.
If you are worried about your 0-60, buy the 4-cylinder 5speed for about 7 grand, and a turbo for a few grand more, and you'll be walking all over any mustang, or camaro for several thousand dollars less.

Similar Products Used:

Beats down the handling of camaros (non-SS) and mustangs, but definitely fails against either power-wise, besides their v6 automatics.

Strength:

totally unique styling! People often wonder what kind of car it is, and that they like it! its roomy inside! the v-6 engine is relatively easy to work on and maintain yourself. I really like the handling as well on a nice, curvy two lane road. and you get to be a memeber of ASOG.

Weakness:

the transmission is notoriously bad.
rotors warp, but they can be replaced with better ones.
needs maintenance to avoid rattles and squeaks
the nose scrapes on driveways, but if you drive carefully, it isn't a problem.

This is not a car for a conformist!!! (*cough* *honda civic and accord drivers* *cough*)

Model Reviewed: AVENGER

Strength:

I like the looks, fuel economy, and reliability. I have owned this car for 2 years (I bought it new). The only thing that has needed to be replaced were the tires (14 inch). The car has enough power to keep up with traffic and then some. I like the interior room as well. I am 6'1" and I have plenty of room. I love my Venge

Weakness:

I don't like the 14 inch tires, they are terrible in the rain.

I would definatley reccomend an Avenger to any one on a budget looking for a classy looking car, that get good gas milage. If you are looking for a street racer or something that goes fast then the Avenger is not for you (unless you have $$$$ for a turbo kit)

Strength:

great styling. i love the feel of a larger car like this. handles great, and the 2.5l V6 gets decent power for the weight of the car. there are performance upgrades available which make the car more fun. interior is designed very well, with everything in reach, and very comfortable. i would recommend this car to anyone looking for a sporty car, with a classy side to it. also, the insurance rates aren't bad at all for a car that looks like this.

Weakness:

i'd like a 5 speed for the V6, but otherwise, everything is great. brake rotors warped at 15,000 miles, replaced under warranty. don't let anyone put rims back on with an air gun! this will cause rotors to warp on any car!

i would definitely recommend this car, and will look into getting another dodge next time. right now, i'm looking to get another avenger in addition to this one, so that i can have a 4cyl 5 speed also.

Strength:

Styling, handing, interior room. The fact that you can buy a turbo for a few grand and eat a more expensive car for lunch.4 cyl feels peppy for a car this size.

Weakness:

The door rattles when window is down, and interior door pulls feel cheap. Not much else to gripe about. If the ride feels too firm then you shoulda bought a Caddy or Lincoln. What kinda class do you think this car is in?

Have not had a problem since I bought it. Would recommend to a friend.

it smoked a 91 eagle talon awd turbo
nice interior QUICK!!!
i added a weapon r intake and a k&n filter

Weakness:

you can't buy a coil for the car (whiych would only cost about $60.00)
instead you have to buy a whole distributer (whitch costs about $850.00
after labor and shipping)

i do recommend it but i here that lots of things go wrong with them. so you should have ample money in your wallet.

Model Reviewed: Dodge Avenger

Strength:

The looks like it is going 100 miles an hour sitting still. High marks to Dodge and there styling team. Good stiff steering to let you know what the car is doing. Suspension is good for a car of its wheelbase with just a bit of understeer. The engine though just being a 2.5L V-6 will get up and move. Good response off the line, and 0-60 and quarter mile excelleration and times. The interior of the Avenger is very well laid out. Everythings up nice and high and excesable.

Weakness:

I have found the the front nose is to low. It is easy to scape it up on driveways and parking lots. Dodge does however make a nose guard that was not sold with my avenger. It is a stock Avenger part and can be bought through a dealership(May take some hunting, mine did). This will definatly save your nose. The only other thing is a bit of excess road nose, but I like my music so I don't usually hear it.

Short and sweet. This car is fun, it is good looking, it is fast, and if your looking for your first sports car as I was, the price is right. Go for it, you won't regret it.

I have driven bother Camaro and Mustang. Although under powered due to V-6 verses V-8. This car still beats both hands down in handling, ride, and style. Buy the buy; although it may be down on ponies due to the 2.5L, this car will still jerk you back in the seat for a lot less pennies than the Camaro or Mustang. Buy one and have fun.

Strength:

Cheap

Weakness:

Everything else that I did not mention in the "Strengths" category.
Even thought the car has not broken down on me in 4 .5 years, the car is very crappy. It rides worse than a Jeep Wrangler and is probably noisier. I hope the new Stratus Coupe is a bit more road friendly. Make sure to think before buying from the Chrysler Corp

No recommendo! Buy a foreign car, they ride better.

Strength:

Aggressive looks, handles well, fun to drive, comfortable interior, reliable for the most part.

Weakness:

Extremely poor front-end design (95 & 96 model) gets caught and torn up in parking lots (a good $900-$1100 repair job). Mopar parts.
Chrysler Service SUCKS! I took my car in for a 60,000-mile tune-up/check emission light was also on. Paid $963.00 for regular service and to have EGR valve replaced. I decided to upgrade my spark plugs and wires within 1,000 miles of having it in the shop only to discover 1) A blown oil seal 2) The plugs had been changed, but not gapped correctly 3) The plugs were not much more than hand tightened 4) Coolant system was corroded and radiator hose was about to burst.

Between this and the two dealers that tried to overcharge me (by around $2500 each) when I was purchasing the car, the ownership experience has left a VERY bad taste in my mouth. I probably won't buy another Chrysler product for many years to come.

Comparable to most other cars in this price range.
