In perspective of what it cost to high dollar European sedans this is one great car. Plenty of room, power, toys, seats, truck space, queit, lights, OHHHH THE LOOKSSSS. The best thing is when you walk out to the car and you see it like you just got the car that day.
Weakness:
Gas mileage is kind of poor 20-22 a gallon. Backing up and looking out the back window ( I have a spoiler on mine) you see almost nothing. Honest truth is this. I have been lucky enough to be station in Germany and have driven everything from Saab''s spg''s, Mercedes, Bmws, porsches, Opel Omega''s (ie Caddilac Cateras to bad they didn''t bring the Lotus edition or the Austrilan version now that would have been a bmw killer.), Audi''s, Volvo''s. They all are very well made and designed cars. The dodge Intrepid is not up to these cars as in build or refinement goes. But for the money it is one heck of a automobile. It has looks that people still stare at. It smells like you have kid at heart nature because of this. It is tough, handles good, quiet, smooth, Powerful, luxurious, BIGGG! and a great road car for long trips with the family of four. I bought my car as a lease turn-in at 48000 and it has 60000 on it now. Had only one problem a tranmission sensor went out that the dealer replaced free of charge because of having the car for only 1 month. For what I paid to have a fully loaded car like this is outstanding. Similar Products Used: Olds cutlas Ceira will not buy another GM product again. Volvo, Ford Tarus |

Styling, Comfort, Handling, Economy, Huge trunk & interior, Smooth drive train, A lot of car for the money.
Weakness:
2.7 Liter engine could use more low end torque. Huge trunk, limited by small trunk opening. I''ve had this car for about 9 months now, and have had zero problems. Smooth ride, great handling, outstanding driver and passenger comfort. More solid & refined than previous generation. Excellent experience so far. This car replaced a 97 Intrepid which was also trouble free. The 2001 model has many subtle improvements over the previous generation (93-97). The 2.7 liter engine is smooth and quiet, but could use a bit more low end torque. Certainly the best value in a large domestic sedan. Looked at Bonneville prior to purchase, and there was no comparison. The Bonneville was attractive, but was no match for the Intrepid for overall comfort and handling. Everythig is awesome Automatic temperature control. Leather seats 3.5 liter V6 with 235 HP Awesome sound system
Weakness:
It doesn''t let you get any sleep, you just always want to drive it! This car is great! Don''t buy an older Intrepid, buy a 2000 or more recent model and it will be much more reliable. I bought it as the ES model with all the options except sunroof. The car is sweet with the 3.5 liter V6 with 235 horsepower is awesome! Leather seats are nice and so is the automatic temperature control that you can control the actual temperature of the heater/AC. Over all it is the best car I have owned and would recommend it to anyone. Chrysler has the best looking cars on the road and that is probably why all the ther ar companies copy their designs. Be an american and buy an american car. Similar Products Used: Dodge Durango, Chrylser LHS, 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 truck - the best truck you can get all chrysler/dodge vehicles |

The car does have a smooth ride and is very roomy.

REPAIRS, REPAIRS, REPAIRS I don''t know where to begin, other than this car is a pile of junk. Although I can''t tradi it in because I owe more than the lemon is worth. I bought the car used and at 31000 miles the transmission went out, then about couple months later the condensor fan motor melted, then it was the continuous break down of the power windows at least 5 times. Once I finally got over that hump then a year after the transmission was fixed the odometer module went out, then air condition broke again this time it is the Evaporator Coils-$800 to fix. It is a god send that I purchased the extended warranty or I would be broke. All in all I have had the car for a little over two years and have had $4,000 in repairs. Strength:
The ride is very smooth and comfortable. The car is also very spacious and handles quite well.
Weakness:
-Check engine light would go on and off. This was finally fixed by replacing the catalytic sensors. -Brakes needed to be completely replaced because the factory parts are cheap. -Power window motor needed to be replaced. -New Battery installed (watch out because repair shops will charge labor since it is hard to get to.) -New tires (Factory tires only lasted 42,000 miles) I bought this car with 7000 miles on it and drive it extensively. Overall it has a been a good car for the money, but not excellent. There have a been some problems, which generally seem to exist on all 98 Intrepids. I will detail those in weaknesses. We really like the way this car handles in the snow and we were very satisfied with the car for the first 9 months and then the problems started.
Weakness:
This model car has sveral recalls and service bulletins tha tthe consumers are not notified about. Bad brakes, tires, front end, window problems. This car is a LEMON!!! We have had this vehicle for 16 months and the repairs are atrocious! We have had to replace 2 front tires, several brake pads, rotors, master cylinder,(recall we were not notifed for), had the front end aligned, and new regulator put in the driver''s side window. We only have 17,000 miles on this car. The service from our 5 Star dealer is more than unacceptable! Strength:
This car has plenty of space for a family of four. The trunk is about the biggest you''ll find on the road. The one of a kind looks of this special edition keep things interesting. The interior is comfortable and tastefully done with an excellent sound system. With the 225/55/17 tires, handling is excellent making you think you''re in a much smaller car. Fuel economy is acceptable at an average 29 mpg for interstate driving.
Weakness:
The SE could use a some more power. At 202 hp it''s a little slow off of the line but hits its stride as rpm''s rise. Passing is effortless moveing from 45 mph to 70 mph quickly when needed. The 2001 Motorsports Edition Dodge Intrepid SE is a fun-to-drive, eye catching, practical vehicle. In flame red with 17" black, five-spoke wheels and raised yellow lettered Goodyears, it gets as many looks as anything on the road. Similar Products Used: I owned a 1997 Dodge Intrepid which I enjoyed. The 2001 improves on that car in almost every way. I have driven similarly priced Ford Tauruses. The Intrepid beats them hands down in performance, st |
