Strength:

1- The 3.5L kicks ass! Responsive and nimble at high speeds (70-90). I never worry about power with my Intrepid. It has plenty to spare. 2- The suspension and steering makes you feel like you are driving a much smaller car. 3- Interior room is amazing. Since I own and drive this car, I rarely sit in any other seat other than the driver''s. But when I do sit in the back, it''s like sitting in a big cave. Lots of room. 4- Ride is very smooth. Passengers seem to fall asleep fast on long journeys. 5- Trunk space is amazing - I seem to never ever complain of lack of cargo room. 6- I have the 7 speaker, non-infinity variety but, amazingly, they are awesome.

Weakness:

1- 3.5L does suck gas. One must take care how one handles the gas pedal. 2- Stupid fog light switch snapped less than a year after I bought it. Havent fixed it yet. At least I dont have to replace my fog light bulbs. *sigh* 3- Road noise. There''s a lot of it. This is the one issue I complain about over all others. I hear the ''01 Intrepids are better with this and am thinking of upgrading my ride just to alleviate this road noise issue.

I ''graduated'' from an ''89 Plymouth Acclaim in 1999 to a ''97 Dodge Intrepid. I bought the Intrepid used with 64K miles. I know, thats high but the price was decent and it was in tip-top shape. After over 2 years of driving this cruiser, I have mostly good things to say and very few negative things. My particular Intrepid came with the 3.5L V6 (215hp) along with 4-wheel ABS and base trim (no moonroof). I recommend to anyone who gets a 93-97 Intrepid to tint the windows. I have done this and it makes the car so much more meaner. This also helps with privacy ''cause the Intrepid does have a whole lot of glass.

Strength:

Roomy, trunk, handling, looks. Everyone thinks it is a great looking car, with lots of room

Weakness:

Apparently, I have weird wiring for the power windows.

I love my Intrepid. Plenty of leg room in the back seat. HUGE trunk. Sporty looking. First thing I do is get in a back seat of a car when I am looking to buy, and I am tall, so I look for a car with leg room. Only had minor problems to date. Only big problem is the power windows. It is now in the shop again (2nd time in 6 months)because the motor either is not working right or there is a wiring problem. Have had brakes replaced and general maintenance, but overall, great car. I LOVE this car.

Strength:

Engine and drive train. Performance Traction and snow handling. Mileage on road. Comfort in both front and rear seat. Large trunk area. Good size for both town and highway.

Weakness:

AC unit. Some body rust showing up in trunk lid. Suspension parts.

We have now driven this car about eight years. We have 88000 miles on car.The performance has been very good. Some problems with AC and it ices up from time to time, but will "heal" itself if AC is turned off for awhile. Mileage on many road trips is very good, usually about 27 MPH. Long hours in car and is very comfortable. This car goes along at 80 mph with very nice handling. Snow handling and traction is also very good. My wife likes car for town driving and handling in parking, just big enough.

Strength:

Styling (one of the most beautiful cars on the road, I think), roominess, quality, performance (yes, the 2.7L is a great engine), ride, handling, comfort, and price.

Weakness:

Minor problem with the inner weatherstripping...new parts for the 2002 model year, I believe, fix this problem.

I owned a 95 Intrepid 3.3L before I bought this Intrepid and I loved it. Drove that one until it had 178,000 miles on it, and it was very reliable. This new Intrepid, a Chrysler Intrepid (since they don''t sell Dodge cars in Canada) is everything I wanted it to be. It''s beautiful, stylish, roomy, and very solid. I have had no problems with it whatsoever. I bought it with 17,000 miles on it and it now has 26,000. I may take it to the dealer and have them replace the inner door seals, as they seem to be shrinking away from the corners in a couple spots, but that''s a very minor detail and will be covered under warranty. I don''t care what anyone says about Chrysler/Dodge cars. I think they''re great, as I have had two winners so far and I''m sure I''ll have many more.

What can I say, I LOVE THIS CAR!!! It has plenty of room, plenty of trunk space, and more power than a lot of V8s (~250hp)!!! I would have liked to see around 300hp though. But hey, if I wanted a pure sports car, I would have bought one. I also have to say that this car rides just a smoothly at 110mph (she can go faster I just haven''t personally tried) as it does at any other speeds. I''ve had my car for over a year with around 25k miles on it and the only thing that I''ve had to take it in for (except routine maintance) was to have an emblem replaced (big deal). Since I live in the Detroit area I do a lot of city driving and I''m still on my first set of brakes.

I bought a 2000 Intrepid. I haven''t had any problems with this car. I''ve put on 36,000 miles on it already and the car rides like a dream. Plenty of get up and go and a very smooth ride. When you close the windows in the car you don''t hear much from outside, it is very quiet inside. Nice and roomy. Great trunk space. I am very impresssed with the car so far

Strength:

Smooth ride when it runs - very roomy and comfortable - cheaply priced compared to other cars in its class.

Weakness:

Where to begin? -Lousy dealership service -eats through brakes -electrical problems -heating and a/c not reliable -Pricey repairs and maintenance

This is the last time Chrysler is going to see a red cent from me - I bought the car over 2 years ago from local dealer as a demo with 15k - good price, nice style, big and roomy with good trunk space - Car now has 85,000 km and is already becoming a mechanical nightmare - the car has already been in for 3 sets of brakes (I now need a 4th), electrical problems (no start), new starter (separate incident), new rear window motor, transmission sensor problems, front power window slipping out of joint, and I haven''t even bothered to bring it in for the "rubbing" noise the heater fan makes, and that the air conditioning goes mad every once in while and blows hot air until you stop and restart the car - I swear the dealer thinks the car is on the used lot for how often I''ve left it there for repairs. When I begin to joke about this with the service department, they laugh right along with me - Oh well, the joke is on them - my wife''s car broke down for good this week, and since I''ve sworn off Chrysler, a Mazda MPV will be sitting in my driveway this week-end - After all, fool me once - shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me!

Strength:

Accelerating, braking, turning sharp corners, and lots of space inside the car and trunk (even with a full-size spare)

Weakness:

Doesn''t have the super sporty look of a two-door but some cool graphics or new wheel and a few go-fast parts on the engine and no one will complain.

I love my ''97 Intrepid. When I was in school it was the nicest car in the lot (That mommy and daddy didn''t pay for). It also has a killer sound system that vibrates EVERYTHING and really turns heads when it is shined up. I can haul a carfull of friends to Cedar Point and back (350 miles roundtrip) and never stop for gas because I get 24 miles to the gallon on average.

Large trunk space, power

Weakness:

Transmission, fuel rails, water pump, timing belt, a/c, spark plugs, weather stripping.
So far, in 10 months, we have put in an extra $5000 CDN to pay for repairs, and we baby this car. I'm afraid to know what will go wrong next. It ruined my vacation, because we couldn't afford to continue it after the $3300 CDN bill to pay for the new transmission, nevermind being stuck in a small town for 3 days while they fixed the car.

I would not buy another Chrysler product, let alone an Intrepid. At first I thought it was a great car. I hadn't heard of the horror stories before I bought it. The service you get at the so-called 5 star service locations is terrible!!! I thought it was just the Thunder Bay shop, but alas, our tranny quit on us 6 hours into our 2 week vacation in Kenora, and they didn't give good service, either. I'm now looking to buy a SUV, but it isn't going to be Chrysler, I can guarantee you that!!
