Strength:

Spacious car. powerful. excellent Handling. Great in the snow.

Weakness:

Terrible engineering. Fire all the engineers involved especially the reliability engineers!!! Or send them back to school and teach the about FMEA’s, six sigma and tolerance study. This car is not reliable. Broke down on the highway in the middle of the night with my wife and daughter with me, twice.

Extremely unreliable after 25000 miles. Broke down Many times. Everything started to fail after 25000 miles, currently has 65000. Even though I have an extended warranty it does not cover all the problems. My deductible is $100.00 and I have paid it about every 3 months. All 3 oxygen sensors failed at different times. The condenser had to be replaced, already 3 break jobs. Alternator broke. Water pump broke. Pulley's ball bearing wore out. Changed tires twice already. intake manifold broke. Intake manifold gasket leaked. And all of the above at different times (so many things went wrong I probably forgot a few). Terrible car.

Strength:

Superior handling and acceleration. Very roomy (more so than a Ford Crown Victoria in rear leg room). Interior still looks great after 8 years.
Excellent body style and 3.5 engine design.

Weakness:

A/C freon leak and condesor replaced in 1999. Sometimes the driver-side window hesitates to go up.

This car has been very reliable. The A/C has had problems and the transmissio was rebuilt at 127K miles (would have lasted longer if I hadn't attempted to change the fluid and filter. Also I drive this car hard through rush-hour in Dallas. We still drive this carry worry-free to N. California and back each year.

I will purchase a new one soon or upgrade to a 300M. I love this car.

Strength:

power, handling, styling, comfort

Weakness:

door seals, remote door locks don't work as well as I would like

Although the Ford has been completely trouble free and the Intrepid is currently having a rebuilt transmission installed, I suspect the reason is that the taurus is SO DAMNED BORING to drive, I don't ever really want to play with it because it's no fun, the intrepid on the other hand is Nimble (for a larger car), responsive and powerful. where the ford is dull plodding and sluggish. Maybe I drive the intrepid to hard but I just can't help it, no such problem with the taurus. also the transmission is completely covered by the EXTENDED WARRANTY (and if you by a used car without one of these your a fool to begin with, and a fool and his money are soon parted). In conclusion, if you want a very reliable boring slow and ugly grocery getter of a car, get a taurus or other ford, if you want something fun get an intrepid, if you take care of it and don't abuse it (like me) it will run for you, and maybe even give an occasional adrenaline rush.

Strength:

Large cabin space, large trunk, very sleek and nice looking.

Weakness:

Poor motor, bad intermitten wipers, molding pieces broken just days after purchase, in hot weather driver side window would not go up (only one occurance though), gear shift linkage problem, brake problems

I would not recommend this car to anyone...I loved the look and even the way it drove in the beginning. On the one year anniversary of owning it my husband was on his way home from work and it just stopped. No warning of anything wrong. No idiot lights or strange noises. After having it towed to a repair shop I found out that the camshaft was broken in half. I was told that the repair costs started at $700-$800 and that was only if it was just the camshaft. But would not know until they tore the engine apart if it needs more detailed work such as pistons or bearings. After talking to another mechanic I was told not to authorize the work because the camshaft doesn't just break there is a reason for it so in the end it will need other work but cannot determine a price until they get into it. So basically what they want is for me to give them a blank check and say go ahead and do what ever. Also have problems with the intermittent wipers. Supposed to have a maximum of 9 second delay and it is so irradic that it goes from anywhere between 4 and 22 seconds. But of course it don't do it in front of the mechanic. Had the link replaced for the gear shift because it could be shifted into any gear at any time (even with the car turned off and the keys in you pocket). Very dangerous when you have kids. At any rate. My recommendation is DO NOT buy any Dodge product. They are not willing to help at all. Got documentation saying a camshaft should last at least at the bare minimum 10 years or 100,000 miles. My car is 4 years old and has 64,000 miles on it. Explain that one. Oh and for those of you who would say it is my fault because I do not take care of it. You are wrong. Have had the oil changed faithfully every 3,000 miles and mechanic says that the engine is clean. No burnt oil or low oil or gumming. Just a lemon. I plan to trade it in and cut my losses. Am going to GM this time and will NEVER own another Chrysler product.

Strength:

Comfortable car with excellent features for price.

Weakness:

Dodge service has been less than stellar. My car has had several problems ranging from electrical to tie rods with only 28000 miles on it. I highly recommend NOT purchasing this vehicle.

Schaumburg Dodge's lack of customer service and Dodge's attempt at a mid level vehicle are a shame to the industry. I will never purchase another Dodge product. Beware of Schaumburg Dodge!!! They have theives that steal items out of your car and they do nothing to resolve the issue. Out of the 6 times my car was in their shop, 3 times I had things stolen.

Power windows

What can I say we love this car. I dont understand all of the negative responces. The only problem we have had is the windows and by the way it looks we arent the only ones. For a large car it gets good mpg. Very roomy and fun to drive and a blast to look at.

Comfortable ride,it is a pleasure to drive on highway trips. There is a lot of interior and trunk room. Car looks good and handles great; for a big car it drives great around the corners.Good gas mileage for a large car. I have driven this car for two years now with very few problems.

Weakness:

I have had the front drivers window motor replaced as well as the hood emblem (fell off). I now have to replace the rear drivers side window motor. No other problems.

I have had a good experience with this car. I don't mind the problems, so far, because the dealer has replaced them without any issues and they have not left me stranded. I am concerned with the resale value, it doesn't look good!

styling, roomy interior, and large trunk.

Weakness:

Like many others I have replaced electric window motors (front and rear), transmission input sensor (would not shift above 2nd gear), idler pulley assembly, even the hood emblem fell off. Many of these items should be on a recall list. Gas mileage is poor (20 average). Severe blind spots, imitation leather is wearing thru,

I bought this car becuase I believed this was the new and improved Dodge. WRONG! If you buy this car make the investment in the Chrysler extended warranty.

Speed. This car is really fast with good gas mileage. A lot of room. Big trunk space and passenger room.

Weakness:

Three 3 THREE water pumps. I wish Dodge would make them as easy to remove as the damn oil filter. So far besides the water pumps I changed one Power Steering pump, but no Trans. Knock on wood.

My friends all had the same problems with there Intrepids so I would have to say find something else. I myself love the speed and Gas Mileage, but I'm looking for a more reliable car tomorrow.

DON'T BUY A CAR FROM VILLAGE CHRYSTLER DODGE IN PEMBERTON!!! They charged me 13,000 with 65,000. MY imature a~~ bought it.

Thanks,
Mike

CAR DRIVES NICE, PLENTY OF POWER, COMFORTABLE, I'VE NEVER HAD TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION....YET

Weakness:

WHERE SHOULD WE START.........INTAKE GASKET, FUEL RAIL, TIMING BELTS, WATER PUMPS, NUMEROUS BRAKE JOBS, TIRES, OXYGEN SENSORS, BODY CONTROL MODULE, WIRES SHORT IN DASH, SPARK PLUG WIRES, EGR VALVE, A/C COMPRESSOR, POWER WINDOWS ARE SLOW, TEMPERMENTAL-STARTS WHENEVER, ETC ETC

ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS TO GET OUT OF DODGE!!!! OH SURE THE FIRST YEAR EVERYTHING IS GREAT....I LOVED THE CAR, RECOMMENDED THIS CAR TO EVERYONE I NEW UNTIL IT BROKE DOWN WHEN I WAS THE MAID OF HONOR IN A WEDDING... WITH THE BRIDE....IN POURING RAIN... WITH ALL THE BRIDES MAIDS. I BOUGHT THE CAR BECAUSE I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE A SAFE FAMILY CAR, AND ALL IT DID WAS LEAVE US STRANDED, HAD ELECTRICAL FIRES AND LEAKED FUEL FUMES IN THE CAR. I THOUGHT BY BUYING THE CAR THAT I WAS DOING THEM A FAVOR, AND THEY TRIED TO GAS ME. AFTER ALL THE REPAIRS AND UPKEEP...LETS NOT FORGET THE CAR PAYMENT, WE ARE IN THE POOR HOUSE. LITERALLY WE JUST REFINANCED OUR HOME TO PAY OFF THE DEBT WE'VE ACCRUED.

I THOUGHT AT FIRST THAT WE HAD JUST GOTTEN A BAD DEAL, BUT THEN OUR SISTER IN LAW PURCHASED ONE AND HAS HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS. IN FACT WHENEVER THE CAR BREAKS DOWN MY FIRST CALL ISN'T TO THE MECHANIC OR THE TOW TRUCK, BUT TO HER. HALF THE TIME I CAN CALL THE MECHANIC AND TELL THEM WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. I HATE THIS CAR I COULD HAVE BOUGHT A PORSCHE FOR THE MONEY I HAVE PUT INTO THIS CAR.

LET ME TELL THE PEOPLE OUT THERE WHO SAY IT IS ABOUT THE UPKEEP OF THE CAR, UNLESS YOU'VE OWNED THIS PRODUCT FOR OVER A YEAR OR MAYBE TWO YOU WILL NEVER KNOW THE AGGRAVATION. FOR THE AMOUNT OF MONEY WE HAVE SPENT WE COULD BUY TWO NEW DODGES, BUT GUESS WHAT, NEVER EVER EVER AGAIN, WILL THERE BE ANOTHER LAWN ORNAMENT IN MY DRIVEWAY.
