Weakness:

Back Seat doesn't fold down and there is no hole for skis. Headlight broke and bulb cannot be replaced. Knock in Steering

Right now I would recommend the car but i'm thinking about selling it because of all the bad reviews but i got it a great price and have had no major problems with it at 73,000 i got it at 68,000.

Sleek Look! Thats all

Weakness:

Fuel Rail, Transmission, Spark plug Wires

I would not recommend this car to anyone! I have changed the Sparkplug wires 3X, the fuel rail has been replaced 3X I only had to pay for it once, But at $450. Now transmission is going out, there's another $1700. But the dealer said they have a part for $500 that would make the transmission last another 3-6 months.(If they have a part that will fix it for that amount of time, they must have known about the Transmission problem from the start, right?) All I'm doing now is babying the car until I can GET RID OF IT!!!
If your looking for a Car, STAY AWAY FROM INTREPID!!!! They must have seen me coming.

I have had the car for just over a year and have no had a single problem with it. NO WEAKNESSES

The Intrepid is such an awsome car. It has plenty of power and tons of pickup. It takes corners in stride and I have had no problems with it. All I have had to do is routine maitenence

Great styling, roominess, very comfortable to drive...

Weakness:

...other than the styling...EVERYTNING mechanically sucks in this car. My list...
1) Noises from dashboard - Fan replaced
2) Intermittent stalling and non-starting in cold weather - spark plug wires, sensors, and anything else they could think of.
3) Rear control arm bolt broke
4) Major transmission overhaul at 65,000 miles - Transmission still shudders, slow-shifts, and sounds horrible - Numerous trips back to dealer blamed the problem on something else.
5) A/C evaporator coil failure
6) Condensor failure
7) 2nd winter of intermittent starting problems - replace wires, etc. again?
8) Catalytic coverter replaced at 40,000 miles.
9) 2nd Major transmission overhaul at 93,000 miles.
10) Numerous dashboard rattles
11) The mysterious check engine light that comes and goes.

Lets see - by my count I have a rack and pinion steering problem to look forward to, another transmission in 25,000 miles, and electrical problems. On top of the monthly payment I've been paying out a yearly repair bill that averages $3000. I'm cutting my losses and going down to the Toyota dealership this weekend.

Dodge is Different alright! Different in quality mechanical manufacturing abilities. Step right up and get one of those new 2000 Intrepids they claim to be mechanically sound. Why did I see a 2000 for $12,000 the other day - With a 1994 Camry sitting next to it for 12,995. The postings here speak for themselves. Dodge Different!? @#@$#$#$#@$##$@!@!@!@#$#%

If you want to stay financially solvent, I have three words for you...

DON'T DO IT!

PLEANTY! of room, sufficient power, and drop dead looks! (Especially mine..haha) Check http://members.home.net/davis769/

Weakness:

I have 90k on mine and haven't had all the numerous problems that other people claim to have had (knock on wood). I had the water pump replaced and timing belt but not because I had problems with it, just as normal maintenance. I also had the AC condenser replaced but because again not because of quality, a rock had penetrated it and caused it to leak. I love this car and want to buy a new or perhaps a 300M. I just purchased a 2000 Stratus and it's great (so far). Go Mopar!

If you want a luxury type vehicle without breaking your bank, this is the car for you! Despite problems that others have had in this forum mine is great and I have no regrets. The new version have an excellent record so far (can't wait to get my hands on one late in 2001!) so you can't go wrong.

Gas mileage!!!!!!!!!!!

This car is a work of art. I would have sex with it, if it was not for the fact that people would talk. Everytime I look at this car, it is like I am seeing it for the first time again. It is one of the sexiest and sleekest cars I have ever seen. But with all these pluses there is only one down side......Fuel mileage. At best it will only get right at 20 mpg in the city. I have not taken it on a long trip yet, but it will not go very far on a tank of gas. My bladder has been known to hold more liquid than this car. But overall, with everything I have experienced with this car, I am willing to overlook this.

Strength:

The ES looks good with the standard wheels rather than those ugly hubcaps on the base models. The cinnamon glaze color is great. I had the windows tinted which helped the looks. the auto stick helps with interstate ramp speeds. Lots of room inside and a huge trunk. this car is quieter than the older body style

Weakness:

a little underpowered with the 2.7

If you want a roomy car with unique looks and sportier than the average 4 door sedan at a reasonable price this would be my choice over all in its class except the chevy impala is right their with it.

Strength:

Styling (still one of the best looking cars on the road today), engine performance. I leased this car for two years and put almost 40,000 miles on it and had no trouble whatsoever with it. To this day, my wife regrets trading it in at the end of the lease.

Weakness:

I thought the front seat was short on legroom (power seats compensate for this), and the factory tires were esxcessively noisy.

I have read a number of negative reviews on this car and am rather surprised at the number of problems others had with their Intrepids (especially the air conditioning). We were ready to buy another Intrepid or a Concorde when we traded but the dealer was not willing to negotiate on the price. I myself would definitely buy another Intrepid, but the number of negative reviews speaks rather loudly.
