Strength:
It's fun, and it's got some spirit
Weakness:
Ford should put more power in their cars. They've got a neet looking car that young people can spice up but they really should get a more powerful engine under the hood. Well I love this car. But I had 2001 ford focus SE and it was a pure lemon I had ten probelem in the 11 month I had it I bought it brand new. So I took thing back, and got a newer better focus with all the fixings, and so far it is all good. Thank god, otherwise I would never by a ford car again. Anyways, this ZTS is great, it handles well the its sporty wide, low profile tires. The stereo ws good for factory but I hooked it up with more boom. this is definately a fun car, great for young and old. Tons of interior room. love the interior design especially with metalic trim that cam in mine. Similar Products Used: 2001 ford focus |

Ford still doesnt seem to put its best foot down a instead of quility it works on production. This is not good because Ford has to redeemitself from false accusations. It needs MORE stock power and less technical gear. Better interior paneling and structure shoud be considered. Why cant we get the same Focus's as in Europe? Huh Ford?Lower Suspension. I love this car. The accesories for this vehicle are unlimited. I've started hooking the car up with the lighting system. I now can say that I sport the most arritating color's around because of the many times i've been stopped by police.(PURPLE)I wish Ford could equip the car with a more powerful stock engine. I mean the suzuki Aero has more horse for goodness sake. The suspension could use a little more tweeeking also.I have to say that i've only had a steering wheel lock problem(which should be a recall)and nothing else like the other remarks of people or speculations. Strength:
Amazing amount of interior room for it's size. Good fuel economy from the Ztec, 4 banger almost to small for this size of car with automatic (unless you do the mods I recommend). Handling with comfort is amazing, can also improve this (when it's windy out the only way I know is if a tumbleweed goes in front of me or the other cars on throad are swerving).
Weakness:
The car could use a little stronger engine and less sway in cornering. The door armrests could use some padding. A little more sound deadening would be nice. Don't know what the long term reliability would be, seems solid but lightweight. I really enjoy driving this car. I have not had any mechanical problems like the others. The performance of the Ztec engine stock with a automatic is lacking. the suspension was also a little soft in cornering. This can be fixed by putting a slightly larger sway bar with elastomer bushings in the back, and a aftermarket strut tower bar in the front. I also put P205/50-16 Sumitomo HRZ's on the wheels. This improved the handling in corners quite a bit without decreasing the ride comfort. To prevent reducing the gas mileage (26city/32hwy) I'm not going to modify the engine. Instead I put on a 2 1/4 cat back exhaust, K&N filter kit, 70mm mass air flow sensor, 65mm throttle body, underdrive pully, & Diablosport performance computer chip. These totalled approx. 1500 dollers and were easy to install. My wagon loaded with luggage going across the cascade mountains stayed in 4th gear (overdrive) on most of the hills. Before these mods it would constantly shift between 4th and 2nd going up even small ones. This car can now beat most others in it's class in accelerating and cornering in comfort! I also added some sound deadening in the lower half of the doors and floorboard/firewall to reduce tire/engine noise and heat load on air conditioner. I suspect Ford that people would pay an extra $1000 on the price for this kind of performance. Your getting a sports car, cargo carrier, and econo box all in one! I would recommend this to anyone who wants an all around fun and economical car! If your into status buy something expensive. Also how do subwoofers improve performance? All I've noticed they do is wake up shift workers from a block away! Very good handling. Spacious in it's class. Good fuel consumption. Great looks. Great steering.
Weakness:
Sidebags not standard The choice was between the VW Golf 4 and Opel/Vauxhall Astra. Im am very glad I did choose the Focus. Very good handling and rommy in the back (unlike the Golf). Diesel is a bit noisy but fuel consumption is ok. 90 bhp isn't very much but the 115 bhp was to expensive at the time. But it's ok, could drive 180 km p/h(=112 miles) in Germany with only one hand on the steering wheel. I also like the looks. Lots of standard equipment with the ZX3 power package. 16" wheels and tires look sharp and handle like a dream and yes, they're Firestones! 5 speed and 130 HP deliver plenty of go when needed.
Weakness:
None. Car is a bargain and performs better than advertised. All you Ford haters out there need to get over it! Great vehicle. No problems at all in 18,000 miles. Gas mileage started out good and continues to get better, currently 33MPG mostly highway driving. One of the best cars I've ever owned. Weakness:
BRAKES SQUEAK uncontrollably at even the slightest pressure to them. I was told it was a design flaw so there is virtually nothing they can do to fix it. Love the way the car drives and is extremely comfortable but in one years time the brakes have had to be serviced and/or replaced due to TERRIBLE squeaking noise 4 times and counting. The problem is still not fixed. This is unexcusable for a new $16000 car. Similar Products Used: Ford escort, Izuzu p/up, plymouth voyager |

Look them up on the web or if you live in the houston area stop by they are good people to work with. Well so far so good I love this car I was VERY sceptical about buying another ford, my SHO is nothing but a pile of crap and the bank don't even want it. But this one is great I have to drive 80 miles a day. Similar Products Used: Eagle Talon (Focus not as fast) but handling is very similar |
