Strength:

Quick handling. Sporty interior, good view of road through all glass. Side glass is at a nice level to see all.

Weakness:

Engine works hard to keep up. Tinny sound from rear of car during rain or snow. Think its water from the tires hitting rear fascia and/or tailpipe. A disgusting piece of engineering! First and last Ford.

" Give Me An Import." My vehicle has 8800 miles on it. On the first oil change the dealer forgot to replace the oil filler cap. Then there was the check engine light a few months later, followed by seat adjuster recalls, child harness restraint repairs, vynal moulding loose on roofline, car won't start ( dealer thought it was fuel line cutoff switch. Reset cutout switch and sent me on my way. Got home and parked vehicle ( quarter tank of gas ) and tried to restart it. Didn't start so added gal. of gas. Started right up. This morning, Aug. 28th, 02 car wouldn't start again. Had to be towed again. Fuel gauge showed a quarter tank. Added two gallons of gas but no start. Haven't heard from Ford yet. Car is also low to ground. Bottomed out on curb while driving off driveway. Dealer said pipe by manifold is dented. The fuel tank cutoff electrical line is near by and runs down the middle of the car. That was not damaged but dealer thought elec. connection might have been jarred. Apparently, that wasn't the problem the first time it got towed in. Am also experiencing flickering LCD/odometer gauge-especially right after startup. With a track record like this- I will not hesitate to go to arbitration or legal counselig if these problems persist.

Strength:

Other than the tire proplem it's a great car.

Weakness:

You may have to replace the tires every 20,000 miles.

I love this car with one exception, I can't keep tires on it. They have an uneven wear pattern no matter how much you align and balance them. I have talked to other people who have the same problem, the dealer knows there is a problem, but since nobody knows what to do about it Ford pretends the problem doesn't exist.

Strength:

Good-looking car with lots of room.

Weakness:

Poor guality. Terrible Customer service.

Besides dealer ripping me off which is a story in itself, the weatherstripping was coming off when I drove it home. It got so many recalls it was like a family joke, except it wasn't funny. I work 6 days a week and am a single parent-don't have time to take car to shop. My first inspection at 14,000 mi I needed new tires, front brakes and rotors. But the best was the engine blew up on my way to Murtle Beach, at 28,000 mi and yes there was oil in it. My 3 children and I had to take a cab from the interstate to the Ford Dealer in NC. Guess what Ford did for me besides ruin my vacation(do you know how much it cost to go to MB for a week with reservations which were all messed up because I didn't arrive on time)NOTHIng. They only thing thats covered under Fords manufactures Warranty is part and labor. I was stranded with 3 children 400 miles from my destination and 800 miles from home and they won't even give me a loner. On a lighter note they did fix the car at no cost to me except for the rental car, the motel we had to stay in cause we couldn't find a rental and the other rental we had to get to drive back home cause the car wasn't finished untill 3 days after we arrived home. By the way I did have extra trip interruption insurance through my dealer and out of about $600 they reimbursed me $114. Should I send them a thank you card. My car is still in NC and Ford Credit called and I told them where they could pick it up at. If this is the way a customer is treated at Ford I'll have no part of it and I tell anyone who will listen. I'm a waitress and I talk to a lot of people. $17,000 might not be much to alot of people but to me its a fortune and I refuse to give Ford anymore of my hard earned cash when they treatd me the way they did.

This car has been nothing but a joke!!! I had more than 4 recalls on it, Ford would do absolutely nothing about it. I will never buy another Ford for as long as I drive. One day I got to my car after working and had a gallon of water on my passenger floorboard. Ford kept it over a week and finally told me a piece was cut wrong on the firewall. what a piece of junk!! the last thing that happened is my rear windows quit operating (yes, they are power) It was only 700 miles out of warranty and Ford basically told me I was out of luck and they couldn't help me. Thanks God I traded it in for a real car, a Dodge Intrepid. I suggest everyone who owns a Focus get out of it immediatley before it kills you. Ford sucks!!!!!!

Weakness:

Brakes and dirtyness of front rims.

Well, I've had the car for almost 5 months now and I've had my car vandalized twice. I love the car itself, and have only had two problems with it. My engine light came on and I still have no idea why, and my front brake pads were wore down and Midas couldn't believe that I only had 30,000 kms. But apparantely all Focus' are known for having bad brakes. But I love this car. It's my first and I'm proud of everything in and on it.

A very nice small car for the money. It's had a few recalls but my dealership, Bill Brown Livonia MI makes the hastle of the recall easier with great curb service. The car is spirited with the 5-speed manual transmission. The pickup is noticeably bogged down with the AC on. The interior is functional and easy to use and the manual up/down driver seat adjustment is totally Europeon. I recommend the car for the short comuter drive. I am getting 31 mpg!

When I first received this car, I thought it was the most beautiful thing...Then the problems started brakes went out! Brake dust everywhere. I have got new brakes 3 times and my brakes still screech when I stop. Car stalls and cuts off in the middle of traffic. I really dont get good gas mileage. The people at the dealership were rude and rushy! As soon as I get a chance I am trading this lemony lemon in !

I don't think this car has a strength.

Weakness:

The whole car - Ford should take them all back and give everyone their money back! OBVIOUSLY THERE IS SOMETHING MAJORLY WRONG WITH CAR BECAUSE THE FEDS ARE INVESTIGATING IT.

This car is absolutely the biggest piece of crap. I don't even know where to begin. I have been to the dealership so many times for repairs that when I went there to get a oil change I asked the guy behind the counter how much an oil change would be and he looked at me really wierd and told me that I should know because I work there - Yes, he thought that I actually worked there because I have been there so much! Pathetic! I have had to get my tires fixed, a new gas sensor installed and now my horn is completely dead! I have only had this car for about a year and a half - what a joke! Not to mention that the seats in this car are so uncomfortable (No support what so ever)that when I drive it for more than 15 minutes my legs and butt go numb! I will never, ever drive another Ford again! If you are in the market for a new car - do not buy this one!!!!

Strength:

MPG, quickness, new style

Weakness:

Minor problem with driver rear wheel well cover, watch out for the small elastic bands on the seat belts in the back, one has already busted. I wish I had at least drove a SVT model.

All in all it is a cheap car, but it does move pretty fast. I like the style of the body, and with a few additions, I could like this car for a while. I bought the car on the way back from vacation, and with the car packed to the gills, it managed to still climb on hills, with three people inside. Comparing the contours interior to the interior of Focus, is kind of a joke. Everything was better quality in the contour, compared to the cheap plastic used in the focus. The dealer states, "we use re-cycled plastic" For room, its roomie enough for a compact car. Gas mileage was great. 600 kms per 29.00(@69 cents/CANADIAN) I hope the depreciation doesn't eat this model to nothing.
