Strength:

When you step on the gas pedal, the 190 lbs of torque really pull you along! Can hang with the best of them (4 bangers and six's of course) Very sporty, and it's a reliable car that gets about 25 mpg.

Weakness:

Needs just a little better gas mileage.

Paid 3,800 for it, great deal, recommend it to anybody.

Strength:

Great handling
acceleration (for a 4-cyl.)
looks
storage space

Weakness:

small engine
speakers are weak
headlight problems

I would recomend this car to anyone looking for a nice looking sporty car that is relatively inexpensive. the car handles as good as any other car that I have driven other than the chevrolet corvette. I love going into 45 mph curves at 80. it sticks to the road with no problem, and to me, a lot better than the '93 mustang that I used to drive. The car has surprising acceleration for a 4-cyl, but I would love to find a GT. I blew away my friends 95 Escort GT on the top end (i was going about 110) with no problem, I can imagine what a Probe GT would be like. Overall it is a good value

Strength:

It has fairly good low end grunt. It also handels well and is an attractive car.

Weakness:

Could use more passing power or better gearing. Expensive to repair. The head gasket is a main issue. The stock stero is weak. Electronics have gone in and out over the years.

This is a attractive sports car with pretty good low end power. Once you get up to speed though it dosent want to pass on the high way like a higher revving Honda/Acura built car does. The V6 has a nice tone. Overall I would probibly buy a Integra GSR if I did it over again. The aftermarket for the car is someway limited, but there are still places to find parts to make this car much faster. The car is extremly expensive to repair, and well, it has the typical American built car problems.

Strength:

Smoooooth, torquey V6 motor
GREAT handling!
Nice shifting 5 speed tranny
Good looks
good build quality
has been a VERY reliable car, especially for being a sports car

Weakness:

leaky valve cover gaskets which are real expensive to replace
weak stock exhaust system

I bought this used in '94 with 13,000 miles on it. I fell in love during the test drive and I still love this car. It is easily the best handling sports car I've ever driven. The engine rips when you hit 5,000 rpm and keeps pulling right up to redline (7,000). Too bad it just doesn't hit a little harder, because the motor is very smooth and can easily accelerate from 5th gear even at just 25 mph. If this thing had just a few more ponies....
The brakes are good too.
In comparing to my new car the Eclipse GT....
The Probe handles better.
The Eclipse is a little faster, but the Probe tends to feel faster since the Eclipse motor has a very flat powerband.
They both look great, the Eclipse has a lot more comfort features than my Probe.
The Eclipse rides much better. The Probe tends to have a bumpy ride. A fair trade off if you want to rip around the turns.

Overall the Probe GT was a great car. It could easily run with any of the Integras, Talon/Laser/Eclipse turbos, and any of the other under $18K GT cars.

Strength:

Crisp, attractive body lines.
Wonderfully smooth, free-revving engine.
Thoughtful and ergonomically sound interior.
Loads of trunk space - put down the back seats and there's more storage than any 4-door can match.
26 MPG from that sweet V-6!

Weakness:

Wide 225 tires are a disaster in snow.

Bought it as a '94 leftover in early 1995 for only $14,500. Have not had a single problem since day one (except a bad battery that was covered under warranty).

A magnificent vehicle that will run with the best, supercars excluded. It may not have the tight fit and finish of more expensive GT-class cars, but at it's purchase price it a a true bargain. The engine begs to be run and hard driving is a sheer joy. Yet it is still very comfortable for long-hual highway use, but the 1994's go-kart style tuned suspension can sometimes bust your bladder on bumpy roads.

Anyone who wants an affordable exotic will feel they own one once they get behind the wheel. Buy a '94 or '95 before the suspension was toned down. I will drive this car until the doors fall off or until my left leg can no longer operate a clutch pedal!

Strength:

Great handling
Good passing power (above 3500 rpm)
One of the best looking cars for the price
Huge cargo space. Even more if the rear seats are folded forward.
Mostly trouble-free maintenance (so far).
Good gas mileage.
Good all-around and over the hood visibility.

Weakness:

Back seats are not designed for comfortable, everyday use.
Transmission (Auto) is weak.
Parts are expensive.

I bought mine 2 1/2 years ago with 20,000 miles on it. Currently has about 70,000. Great car, awesome looks, too bad it is way underpowered. If your thing is just to look good, the SE or Base models are the way to go. Otherwise, go for the Probe GT and build from there if you're more performance oriented. This car is mostly a Mazda, and you should treat it as such. If you have problems, go to a Mazda dealer. Most likely, parts will be in stock, and their mechanics will know how to handle it better since they are used to dealing with the Probe's mechanical twin, the MX-6.

Expect a reliable car (hasn't left me stranded yet, knock on wood). The transmision will give you problems from time to time, but everything else is reliable.

Strength:

excellent handling, quick V6, silky smooth 5-speed, sleek curves, good gas mileage

Weakness:

Could use some extra horsepower, prone to rattles, low resale value

One of the best compact sports cars for the money. There is no doubt that it is one of the best handling in its class. Its high reving V6 is amazingly quick for only producing 164 hp. On a curvy road, it will eat Mustang Gts for breakfast.

Strength:

corners great
looks nice (at first)
flip headlights actually work!!!
speedy but not fast

Weakness:

It's a Ford with a Madza engine
Expensive parts
Handles HORRIBLE in the snow, my Camaro handles better
-valve gaskets are bad, leaks oil
-had problems w/ brakes
-had alternator problems
-interior rattles and squeeks
-exterior/paint fades-chips easier and faster
-stock exhaust is bad
-burns oil
-tranny shifts hard or delayed. I have owned it a year and put 20k miles on it and I am still not used to the wierd shifting. (5spds are better)

I paid $6300 feb of 99
The first 2 months i owned it I needed it towed 4 times.
It is a little better now but I dont trust it. It is liable to break at any time (mainly a Ford problem).
In the process of trading it in for 4000 for a 99 monte carlo (I got smart and went back to chevy)
I would only recommend this car to ppl who plan on modifying anything and everything
(I never disliked Fords until I bought a Probe)

Interior noises Engine could be better if it had 50 more horse.

I think this car is the best car for its money, but you have to get the GT model to get the V6. Its sleek bodylines and excellent handling make it a car that is sweet to own. (If you don't have any problems, parts are expensive!!!)

Strength:

Looks good, fairly quick, handles very well, large cargo area under hatch and most important....cheap!

Weakness:

It's a Ford. Shakes when car is stopped, apparently this is a common problem. Very cheap plastic interior, everything creaks. There is a delay between when you press the pedal down till the car starts moving, when you accelerate hard, very annoying. Would rather own a Prelude.

Paid $8k for it on 10/99 with 40k miles on it(moonroof, power options, etc). Great deal, fun to drive, but quality-wise, it's lacking. I've already fixed an oil leak on it, surprising for a car with only 45k miles on it now. If I didn't get it for such a good deal, I'd be very unhappy with the car, but for $8k, I can't lose. I will sell it in 2001 to get a real car: Prelude. Not to say it's a terrible car, but after driving the Prelude you can tell where the Probe falls short. Overall, a very fun car.

Prelude, Integra, both are much nicer, but also more expensive.
