Wideness of the car
Fast
Looks Great!

Weakness:

Bad alternator
Vibrates when stoped
Factory speakers can't handle sound good.

Probes are the best and most affordable cars out there. They handle very well. IF you ever ride in one you will experience a very smooth ride. I had an 1989 Probe LX for 3years and when I traded it in they took 3,000 of my 1994 probe SE.
I think every one should own some kind of Probe because, they are the best.

Strength:

It handles as good as or better than any other sports car I've driven. I had a Z28 that handled great, but this car takes the cake. I've overtaken a mustang gt in sharp turns. Acceleration is strong. Even at 70-80mph it has great passing gear acceleration.

Weakness:

Needs a atleast 3.0 liter injection and 20-40 more h.p. Replacement parts are expensive and sometimes hard to find. At 58,000 miles I had to replace the water pump,oil-sending unit,a left front strut, timing belt, and thermostat.

I paid $17,600 for this car brand new. It listed close to $19,000. Probes, especially the GT's look and run awesome, but I wouldn't recommend buying a car that is no longer in production. Makes you wonder why they quit making them. Parts and labor on them are not cheap.

I can compare it to my 1980 Z28 Camaro. Lots of power and great handling. If I had a choice of either one in brand new condition I'd have to take the Z28 though. It'll be an antique soon. Tough decision otherwise.

Strength:

Sporty, peppy when cold, handles nice, corners ok (Don't go too Fast!! almost rolled her!)nice pickup when going down to 2nd at forty mph hour, Smooth shifting 5 speed when she's warmed up, 92,000 miles, No major problems so far, replaced fuel filter, alignment, and tires....Makes a non turbo eclipse look like a joke, light weight yet sturdy, good gas mileage, sleek sexy ladies love it, Plows through deep snow my 4x4 Jimmy gets stuck in (Serious!!)Fun to drive, maneuverable, responsive, Easy to get a feel for.

Weakness:

Rough Ride tipsy at high speeds (Put her on two wheels) Needs a little more HP, Turbo model needs to be more available, or easier to find affordable turbos made available.
Also, front passenger side clip holding bumper assembly on broke, I have noticed this on about 15 or so other probes around my town? Defect??!?!? Easy Fixes???

Perfect for the young male or aggresive female, I love this car, I just wish I could find some easy to do at home mods for my suspension and air intake. I also would like to know if there are any super chips or turbos available for the 2.0 DOHC (5 speed) and maybe a way up the acceleration?
Any suggestions feel free to email me at alandion13@hotmail.com

Weakness:

* Cost of Replacement Parts

* Plastic Interior tends to break over time

* I would definitly recommend this car. Great in Snow and wet weather.
* Low Resale value when traded in for a new car. I shed a tear when I traded in my 95 Probe. I did not what to part with it. Best car I ever owned.
* If you can get one with low KM's/Miles, buy it. It will be the best car you will ever own. Nothing in the market compares for the price and value.
* Good-luck and happy Probing.

Strength:

-Handling is superb
-strong 4-cylinder turbo
-Gas mileage around 30 mi. gallon!
-Huge truck with fold down rear seats

Weakness:

-Head room is at a minimum
-exhuast system is weak
-trip computer

I payed $5,500 for my 2.2L 4-cyclinder turbo with 90K on it. The Little 2.2 turbo produces 190lbs of torque, 145 horsepower, and tops out at 137 mph. The '89 Probe GT does all this stock while getting 30 miles to a gallon! I had a 1991 CRX SI that can't touch it, my '93 Probe GT is a joke compared to the '89 GT. Both my cars are stock and the '89 GT can beat the '93 GT by 3 car lengths. Like I said, this baby is hot for a 4-cylinder: 137 mph top speed, 0-60 in 6.8 secs, 1/4 mile in 14.7! Not bad for a 4 banger.

Strength:

Incredible handling
Styling that has held up well over time
Interior is great with leather option
Tons of cargo room
V6 sounds beautiful above 4000 RPM

Weakness:

Parts cost a ton
Rattles like a can full of nails
Notchy shifter
Stock stereo is hard to operate

I bought my probe with 40,000 miles on it for a little over $10,000. This car is incredibly fun to drive, it handles better than my friends '97 Z28 and still gets 25 mpg on the highway. My car has the leather option which really makes the interior look great. The styling still looks fresh after four years. The stock stereo has tiny buttons making it hard to use. This car can haul more cargo than my previous car, a 1990 Oldsmobile Ciera, could. Fun to drive year-round. I went shopping for a newer car three months ago, test drove cars for 3 weeks, and found nothing as nice to drive or as fun as my Probe. I wish Ford still made them (and the new Cougar is an insult...drives like a Buick).

Strength:

-Handling, Thats what this car is made to do."Carve A Turn"
-Acceleration, Loves to be revved.
-Shape, It's body style is the only one like it.
-Confert, Plenty of leg room, easy to read controls.
-Braking, Stops on a dime.

Weakness:

-Resale value.
-Hard to find after market parts.
-Weak factory exhaust.
-Some parts are hard to get to, you gotta move 4 things to get to 1 simple thing.
-Power windows don't seal-up all the time.

I got my PGT for 10,000 used. It was a steal,I knew when I first took it for a drive that I could make this a sweat ride. After doing a few mods, Full stainless exhaust from MoZart, Brospeed headers, WeaponR intake, a 2" drop-thanks to Intrax Srings and Short-Throw shifter,This car had plenty power to twist some R's. Now all it needed was some style. After adding cust. white racing strips and other graphics including a cust. white and Red interior to the bright Indy Red PGT, this car had it all, looks and speed. So to anyone looking at buying a Probe, don't hold back. They've got plenty power and performance to build on. There realy isn't anything Neg. about the Probe besides little things that every car on the market does or doesn't have. The Gas mileage is great, They're very affordable and dependable. Like I mentioned above there's plenty to do with them if you like toyn' with cars. For those that didn't know,it's got a Mazada engine(The only Manufacturer that thought of a rotary engine, need I say more.)

Anyone That wants to know How to do cust. mods to there PGT, includeing Tail lights (VETT. style). Or anyone that has any other good ideas, E-Mail me at DanStrouse@aol.com

Strength:

Smooth motor that has good torque and runs strong to redline
Very good handling
Excellent brakes
Trunk space(seats also fold down - lots of room)

Weakness:

Back seat room
Ford service
Low resale value (Can be bought cheap though)

I have owned the car for two years and have been very impressed with the car. There are faster cars out there in the class but in my opinion, none are as well balanced (handling, braking, room, smoothness of V6). Two problems in the past two years and 40,000 miles (39,000 when I bought the car for 9500). One o2 sensor (happens to all Probes), and a timing belt tensioner (may be a fluke - I have heard of no others with the problem). My experience with Ford service left much to be desired.
