Power with the push of the clutch, All the goodies that a BMW has without the price tag, good looke. Strong, reliable motor. Transmission is great.
Weakness:
Clutch could me just a little smoother. I own a 1993 Taurus SHO. I love the Car. Talk about a sleepr. There is a wolf hidden under the sheep skin exterior. I drive many cars at work but i really havn''t found a car that i would take over the SHO. |

Everything. If I where anybody with a sensible mind, I would never consider buying this car. I bought from a friend of mine with 38000 miles in it. I drove it for 1 year, before I sent it to the junkyard. After I put about 2000 miles on it the head gasket broke and damaged the engine beyond repair. I ended up getting a new engine, for free because of the warranty. But 1000 miles later my transmission gave away. Got it replaced also for free. My check engine light always kept comming on all the time, the ford delear never was able to find out the cause of it. Then other problems I had was the power steering, brakes, cigarete liters, and any kind problems you can think about. 11 Months after I had the engine wen''''t again, this time ford would not give me another engine. I took the car to the scrapyard and got $100 for it. I was pissed of that I lost 10000 to it. If you ever consider buying a car, either buy a Japanese, or Euro cars. Dont buy any America made cars, they love to cut cost on most essential items so that they can copete with the imports. The way they are going they are loosing the war. After this car I bought my father''''s 95 Nissan Maxima, and I tell you that car is a lot better, in quality, reliabity, performance, handling and so on. I have now 138,000 miles in it and I never had to replace anything but the muffler recently and the brake pads. Similar Products Used: ''''95'''' Nissan Maxima |

Roomy, interior and trunk. Excellent gas milleage.
Weakness:
could be quiter inside; needs better sound proofing from the outside. This car has exceeded my expectations. I bought it only because I was not able to find a V6 Camry in my price range. I bought the Taurus one year old and w/ just over 20,000 miles. I have a real basic SE model; white, no alloys, nothing impressive about my car. Nonetheless, 3 years later and with the odometer now at 60,000 miles I have mostly good things to say about the car. Oh by the way, during those 3 years I''ve taken many long distance trips;two down to "real" Mexico (where the roads don''t look like roads), these were over 30 continuous hours each way. On the second trip, 6 hours of the trip each way were on really bad roads. THe car has always come out like a champ. It''s a gas miser; I only have the 145 hp V6. I haven''t had any reason to complain. It accelerats OK and can run 100 mph as long as my wife doesn''t notice. Hey, maybe I just got real lucky. I read all this bad stuff about the Taurus. I just had to write in my piece; I owe it to my car. I should mention that just after I bought it I had to have the main computer replaced. The car was still under the 36,000 mile warranty and so I paid nothing. The car idled rough and the dealer decided to change the computer. Since the problem was real slight I took my first trip down to Mexico while the dealer got the part. I had no issues w/ the old computer. The car just vibrtaed a bit sometimes at a long stop. Other than that, I''ve only done periodic oil changes, got new brakes at 53,000 miles and 4 new tires also at that time. The tires and brakes were still from Ford. Oh this was just before my second trip down South. So all is good. Now, I really hate to sound so content or easily satisfied but I am being honest. The acceleration could be better; every so often I notice a slight hesitation somewhere between 1st and second but I am a realist and just realize that given my 145 hp V6 its to be expected. Moreover, it really isn''t that bad. I am very happy w/ my 1998 Taurus SE. But I''ll be honest I keep wondering if I just got lucky. Similar Products Used: Rented: grand ams, grand Prixs, Impalas |

The four day repair every two days. This car was an absolute joke. From virtually every mechanical breakdown you can imagane and some you can''t, I learned my lesson the hard way. The icing on the cake was on a below freezing morning when I left my Taurus to warm up in the driveway, only to go out to it 10 min. later to find the engine ON FIRE!!! I wanted it warm, but jeeze, that brings new meaning to the idiom: "careful what you wish for, you might just get it." Similar Products Used: Save yourself! |

A lot!! I have had nothing but problems. First with the recalls. Front end problems. And the most irritating of all,(and they still can not figure this one out) is the rattling noise coming from underneath the car when I am driving down the road. It sounds like something is loose down there. This is my first new car and I am very dissapointed. I would really hate to have to switch to a foriegn car next time, its looking awfully appealing. |

Ford Taurus SE Sedan.
Strength:
Roomy car for the price.
Weakness:
Vulcan V6 is inadequate for this car. Front-end vibration problems are on the rise among area 2001 Taurus owners. I must out of my mind to buy another front-wheel-drive Ford car. I have had front-end vibration problems since the night I took ownership on 10/10/01. The car''s steering wheel wobbles between 38 - 45 mph and it has a shimmy at highway speeds. It has been into Ford twice for rebalancing and realignment and the problem still exists. This is my third front-wheel-drive Ford vehicle (purchased new) in ten years. Both prior vehicles have been discontinued with the same problems never being solved. Ford has no clue about manufacturing quality front-wheel-drive vehicles. Everything else about my 2001 Taurus SE Sedan is okay. The 3.0 Vulcan V6 engine should be discontinued and the 3.0 Duratec V6 should become standard equipment on all trim levels of the Taurus. My advice to anyone looking for an American-made midsize family sedan, please look strongly at the Chevrolet Impala, Buick Century, Pontiac Grand Prix or the Dodge Intrepid first. I wish I would have. Similar Products Used: Chevrolet Impala Dodge Intrepid |

roomy, safe, and great gas milage...
Weakness:
sensors and the transmition I bought this as my second car. With a 3.0 v6 it offers enough power to get the job done. It is roomy and safe. I put it in a ditch and if it wasn''t for the seat belts and air bags the cop said i would not of made it. instead i walked away without a scratch. sensors and the electrical system have a few problems. most are easily fixed. the transmition was stong until the wreck. now it gives me a little greif but it still goes... pushing 100,000 miles i can''t complain about this car to much. although the ford enginer who decided to put the electronics in the trunk for the factory radio needs beat cause that makes installing a system expensive and a lot of extra wires.
