Strength:

Styling, value for the dollar??

Weakness:

Not much of a value if it falls apart. Internal and external trim already failing. Scared to drive it!!! What''s going to be recalled next???

Well, here we go. I called my dealership about an appointment on a factory recall for the wiper motor having the potential to flame out. When I was on the phone I also mentioned a front end vibration. They asked if it got worse when I braked. BINGO!!!! If they already knew there was a potential problem why didn''t they contact me? Because all FORD is worried about is profit, profit, profit. If they start admitting that they build junk across the board then their margins go down. After all of the press about bad tires, bad ignitions, etc, I''m really worried about my wife and daughter using this car every day. I am done buying American built junk. I hope my mistake of buying a Ford doesn''t kill my family.

Strength:

lots of nice extras. interior is very nice for the price.

Weakness:

reliability and general construction. The steering has never been good on this car and has only gotten worse over time.

I bought this car from my grandmother in 1995. It had been serviced at all reccommended intervals prior to my purchase. I continued to service it regularly. Oil changes every 3-5000 miles. Flush radiator every year, trani serviced at 35k intervals. Tune up at 55,000 miles. Etc. I have had only one speeding ticket in my life and no chargeable accidents, so you can guess that I do not drive my cars hard. Nevertheless, I have had to make the following repairs to this car: Coolant main return hose, twice other cooling hoses water pump air conditioning manifold air conditioning compressor antenna (just flew off one day while driving) tape deck broke but I never replaced two engine mounts alignment problems head gasket is shot, though I will not replace because of cost. transmission is starting to slip The leather is starting to crack even though this car has been garaged over 7 of its 9 years. Other parts, window seals, radio buttons, a/c buttons, etc have been breaking over the years without abuse. This car has 115,000 miles on it and is only worth $300 due to the head gasket and the suspect transmission on this model. And that value is for salvage. My father is horible about servicing his cars and yet his 1993 Buick LaSabre has over 165,000 miles and has never had any repair over $200. I will never buy another Ford product again. They could easily spend an extra $200 and build a car that would have a reasonably good chance of making 150- 200,000 miles if well cared for. But then you wouldn''t have to buy a new car as often, would you

At 4 years old exterior still looks beautiful. I live in upstate NY (snow, salt) and don''t keep it in a garage. Interior is easy to clean and looks great. Engine has never left me down and it''s fast!

Weakness:

Only problem has been tearing of the carpet under drivers feet. Also, the blue book value of this wonderful car has declined dramatically!

This has been the best car I''ve owned so far. At 66,000 mls it has never given me any kind of trouble. Just put new brakes on at 60,000 mls. Had it since brand new in 1997. Only dissappointment is it''s value as a trade-in right now. It looks beautiful, runs great and at 66,000 mls. it''s blue book value is only $5,000!!! I was going to trade it in on something foreign, but why mess with good luck so far.

Strength:

- great pick up; has the 3.8 v-6

Weakness:

- had major electrical problem when I first bought it; western GM looked after me very well; wouldn''t recommend Denny Andrews Ford in Edmonton very much--car was taken there by Western to be repaired- did the job, but service department was terrible

- has been a very good car - have put 50000 km on it since I had it - very little spent on it over regular maintenance - took it across Canada in summer of 2000 and trip went extremely well travelling

Strength:

Great heat and AC
Front wheel drive is good in the winter
Comfortable seats
Premium sound works well
Good pickup
Great first car
Has held up perfectly; bought it with 72,000 miles, now has 83,000 and has not needed more than an oil change and gas.
Has all the power goodies; doorlocks, sunroof, seats, etc.
Dark green paint has not chiped or scratched.

Weakness:

no leather seats? - not a weakness, it just wasnt an option that was in the car.

Well, hearing about the transmission and head gasket problems on the 3.8 liter Tauruses, I was hesitent to buy it. How ever the dealer told me that they have been replaced already on this one, so I decided to purchase the car. It is a Taurus SE, with the 3.8 liter engine. And me being only 16 years old, this is a great almost first car. (I drove a Tracer 4 banger for about a week)This car has more pickup than any other car at my school. Everybody else has little 4 bangers like Escorts, and other compact cars. I have driven it since December of 2000, and it was a great improvement, especailly when all the snow storms started to hit. The heater in this car heats up quick, and the air conditioner cools it down quick. When compared to what everybody at my school drives, I would say this is the best car in the parking lot. It has the most room, no rust, no hatchback (it is one of the only cars there with a trunk!) 4 doors, leg room, and great air conditioning. It has more power than any others too. (maybe they would have a little more pickup if they all didnt have 400 pounds of stereo equipment in the back.) It gets good gas mileage and has been holding up very well.

Strength:

Reliable 3.0L engine, roomy enough for 5, comfortable front seating for long trips, ease of general maintenance.

Weakness:

Programming for the transmission shift points is not what I would call great. Minor cooling system nuisances, as listed in my overall impression.

Bought with 5000 miles on the odometer as a former company car in late '94. Came with all the standard features; options included 4-wheel disc ABS. 78K miles on the odometer and counting. Haven't had any serious problems with it yet. Repair work has been limited to a defective vehicle speed sensor and a leaky heater bypass hose at 30k miles and replacing a leaky radiator at 75k miles. Outside of those repair work, general maintenance intervals, and a new set of tires, nothing else has been touched. I'm a firm believer that if you take good care of your car, your car will take good care of you, and that is the case with my family's '94. Would recommend to anyone if the car has been taken good care of by the previous owner.
