Ford Taurus
Strength:
It is very easy to keep clean and is pretty nice for traveling. I like the cup holders, but you can't get to the ash tray if you are using them.
Weakness:
All the problems. The transmission has been replaced twice and it still does not work right. Just had to get 4 new tires because the front chamber is out(it tore up my tire), in the winter (mostly) and some times in the summer the brakes bounce even when you push them slowly. Not even to mention the trouble with the gas pedal, it has a rumbling feeling most of the time when pressing on it. I have had this car checked out more times then my 86 toyota tercel- which before I got it no one took care of it. Even my 72 Plymouth Champ (had it from 96 to 98 was totalled in a car wreck) was a better and more reliable car then the 97 ford taurus. Both of my other cars were fixed 3 times when I had them. I can't see how ford would allow people to drive around in cars that are not really safe. My Grandfather (who worked for ford for 32 years) would roll over in his grave. In the winter this car is almost a death trap. I am happy that some people have had no problems with their cars, but I really think Ford owes the people who have had problems a very sincere apologies and some compensation for the time and money we have had to put into these cars for repairs that go beyond usual repairs. Comfy, roomy, SAFE, reasonably fun to drive
Weakness:
None This review is of my Mother's Taurus. We bought it in 91 with 1.2 miles on it. We took good care of it, drove it gently (for the most part) and kept up with the routine maintenance. Similar Products Used: None |

Strength:
Absolutely everything. This car is almost perfect. Sure, it's had a couple of minor repair problems, but that's to be expected for a car that has 165,000 miles (!).
Weakness:
There is nothing about this car that I don't like. I would recommend it to anyone who needed a car. Similar Products Used: 1987 Volkswagen Quantum- Piece of crap. 1996 Dodge Caravan- Good, but not as good. 1991 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera SL- Piece of crap. 1987 ToyotaVan- ok, could be better. 1984 Ford Escort L Wagon- Rolling oven, otherwise fine. 1977 Chevy Nomad Van- (gag... {finger in mouth}... THE MOST WORTHLESS PIECE OF S-Hi+ I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY ENTIRE LIFE!!!!!!!!!!) |

Strength:
This car is very roomy. Plenty of room with 3 kids. The controls are very easy to read. The AC works great! Really cools the car on HOT days here in Florida. I love the center console, finally a car that can hold BIG drinks. I also like the fact that the center console can also be folded down and used as a seat.
Weakness:
The car seems somewhat slow at take offs, but once you are on the open road, WOW what power! If you stomp the gas pedal for passing, you almost feel like your on a race track. Great acceleration then. Slow take offs are the only thing that I have to say that I dont like about it. But like any car, if you stomp the gas, Im sure it would take off pretty fast at take offs to. I paid 11,000 for this car and so far, it's been great. It has plenty of room. I would definitley recommend this car to everyone but especially people with kids. Room enough for a family but yet still stylish enough for young people. Similar Products Used: My previous car was a Mazda protege. The ford taurus puts that car to shame in everything from design, comfort, roominess, and style. |

Not the motor or transmission. Due to the high numbers made there are after market parts.
Weakness:
Poor design of the head to block. Why did they not use STEEL!!!! There are too many forces at work for alunium to work with a steel block!!! $6,000. Would not recommend it. Would not Recommend Ford Motor Company to mnyone. Hope Mr. Jaq Nassar is reading this!!! Similar Products Used: 1992 Chevy Lumina Van (Very Reliable) |

Strength:
This car has never let me sit. I only have ever had one problem and I was electrical. I also love my 3.8l V6 engine-I raced and stock Mustang 5.0 AND WON!!!!! I was shocked as the driver of the Mustang. I also love all the extras this car has, power everything, lumbar, sunroof, digital cluster, climate control, etc. I plan to drive this car until it dies.
Weakness:
The parts are slightly more expensive-my ingition switch went bad and it cost $60 for the switch alone. I feel the cost is worth having car though. I think I got one of best deals ever. I only paid 750 for this quality car. For that price I expected a short term car with problems, this car is cherry. I would recommend a Gen I Taurus to anyone. If this car ever dies I plan to buy another Taurus- My 3rd in a row. (My last car still runs great, I gave it to a family member.) The Ford Taurus is a great car. Our family fits comfortably in it and my husband's long legs don't feel cramped at all. The adjustable seats help for sore backs and long trips don't feel as long. The car has performed beautifully for us. We are on our 3rd Taurus and I think that speaks volumes for how we feel about the car. |

It must be a freak engine. It is the base Engine and it hits 60mph in 8.0 seconds
Weakness:
The only setback is 0-30mph where there is not enough torque. I paid 14,795 used with only 21,000. I would recomend it. Similar Products Used: Honda Accord V-6 |

Ford Tuarus SHO
Strength:
Strong acceleration, roomy cofortable interior, rock solid engine (made by Yamaha sound I wouldn't expect anything less.
Weakness:
Absolutley everything around the engine was the worst, this was the worst cas I ever owned, I bought it with 54,000 original miles and it was in the shop evry three to five weeks with something new. I bought the extended warranty (thank God) but after owning it for six months and having it in the shop seven or eight times, which didn't cost me anything because of the warranty I said enough was enough and sold it. I paid $5500 for an absolute piece of junk, I will never ever buy another Ford product, the engine by Yamaha is a gem, but everything touched by ford just fell to pieces and with low miles too...Danger Will Robinson, stay away. Strength:
Mechancially sound. Has run well without breakdowns and I have 106K on it.
Weakness:
Interior style is drab. Entire dash wobbles on bumpy roads. Fit and finish are awful. Noisy driving, harsh ride. Lots of rattles, thumps, misc. noises. Cheap car, ok for college kids, but I have been disappointed with it. Similar Products Used: 1988 Ford Mustang 5.0L. Fun car. Owned it 5 years, never a mechanical problem except for the heater. Fit and finish, paint weren't great. |
