Strength:

Ive already done this but oh well...its quiet, smooth, and its overall a nice car

Weakness:

I just wasn't too in to the cars styling and engine.

Ok, ive gotten quite a few angry emails about my post that I wrote before this one. I apologize if I made any of you upset. And also, I thought the Accord was a great car. I loved it while I had it. But I just couldn't keep the interest. If you look at the rating I gave it, it was 3 stars I believe, so it must not have been too bad. I wanted a little bit of a sports car feel in my car, and i went and found a Grand AM. I also own a 540i, and I think that car is 50x better than my Grand AM, but for the amount I paid for it, it was a pretty nice car. The accord was a lot more expensive and I really didnt see a difference in performance between the two. My grand am was quicker than the accord V6 i owned before. But I will admit the accord was much quieter than my Grand Am. But then again my Grand Am has over 100K on it, and even then its not rough to any extent. But dont take anything i say personally. So, i apologize if i made any of you angry. Believe it or not, Accord and Grand AM owners can co-exist with one another without ripping on eachother's car (SORRY BOUT THAT GUYS). But anyway, I must be going. Peace Out.

Brad
PS My sister now owns my Accord and she loves it. So its still in our family.

Strength:

There arent any. Yeah its a quiet car, but its got no torque.

Weakness:

Powerless, and slow. (V6)

Ok, I'm sorry to all you accord lovers out there, but when I owned the accord, I was absolutely bored to death. It was very quiet and reliable I must admit. But to me, driving isn't driving unless you spice it up a bit. My Grand Am that I got after I bought the Accord is much faster. Its a 1995 Grand Am Se 3100 V6. To all you accord owners out there, don't mess with me. Ive got some minor mods on my engine, and I can do the 0-60 dash in under 6 seconds. And I'm not even done with upgrades. The Honda Accord was a nice car, but I dont think that it fulfilled my needs for power and speed. Your cars stock may have more power than a stock Grand Am V6, but you don't have nearly as much torque. Not only that, but my transmission (4-sp auto) is very quick for an auto. Under 6 sec 0-60 is a great time for an auto. I will however recommend the Accord over the Grand Am for people that are in their 40's and are looking for just a regular-nothing special-type-of-car. But if you were to buy a Grand Am, you would notice the difference in speed and power almost immediately. Theres quite a bit more in the grand am in both areas. And to the prelude owner up at the top of the survey, Ill take you any day in my grand am and kick your ass. I have had my car dynoed at stock and I was pushing 165 hp (stock), and 205 ft-lbs (stock). Now Ive had it dynoed again and Ive got 253 hp, and 276 ft-lbs torque. I take mustangs all the time and win. Dont f*ck with grand ams.

Model Reviewed: Accord LX 4-Door

Strength:

This vehicle reeks of overall goodness. With 173,000 miles, it's extremely reliable and comfortable. It's still fun to drive. The engine uses no oil between changes (every 3,000 miles), gets 35 m.p.g on the highway, and purrs like a kitten. The brakes have been done once. The tires last for 75,000 per set. I may have to replace the clutch in the next few months, but it's original and I used to tow a 1,200 lb. camping trailer with this car! And to top it off, I have had wonderful experience with each of three Honda dealers that have serviced this car.

Weakness:

It stands between me and buying a new car! I won't get rid of it until it becomes unreliable, which does not appear to be in the near future. One annoyance: The cruise control has always been slow to engage and the heater knobs have a tendency to strip. The latter cost $4.50 to replace, however, so it's hardly a major source of dissatisfaction. The only problem endemic to this model seems to be the distributor, but I can't get too riled up about it since didn't fail until 120,000 miles.

It boils down to this: I feel like I'm pulling a "fast one" on the rest of the commuting public by driving this car. Living in SUV-crazy Detroit, I chuckle when I think how little I pay for transportation compared to my neighbors. First, the car goes a long way on a gallon of gas. Second, everytime I take it to the dealer for scheduled maintenance (about which I am vigilant) I end up spending less than I had planned. Nothing major ever goes wrong, and the service manager has talked me out of having discretionary things done on more than one occasion. Third, I no longer insure it because of its low book value, so it reduces my ownership cost even further. Of course, I get some razzing at the office because I'm an executive and I receive a car allowance which I would rather spend on travel than overpriced sheetmetal and the associated costs that go with it. But I know that the primary source of the teasing is envy. I've promised this car to my daughter when she turns sixteen, and she's only seven now! I'm fairly confident that I'll be able to keep my promise!

A long string of Chrysler-manufactured vehicles (I worked there for eight years and drove company lease cars.) From a quality standpoint, the Honda blows them into the weeds. I also owned an Eagle Vision which, while a great pleasure to drive, consumed air conditioning components like candy. The Chryslers all tended to be decent designs assembled with crappy, third-party components, a sure recipe for problems.

Strength:

* It moves.
* It's a Honda Accord if that'a strength? I doubt it.

Weakness:

* Honda's customer service is the worst of any auto makers. Seriously, try send an email or order something from the Honda Web site and see if you get any response at all. Answer is a big "NO". Why the heck they even put up a Web site is beyond me.
* The Honda dealers would care less about you and your car once it is sold to you. Don't count on your warranty, it just a bunch of bs.
* Poor transmission. The transmission would fail after 50,000 miles.
* Driving is believing. I would buy a Hyundai over any Hondas. Folks, you really need to drive a Accord like mine to believe that it can only be made by Honda. It is not a car, it's a freakin $18,000 bucks toy.

I would trade-in this Accord for a Camry or Maxima without second thought. I contacted both Toyota and Nissan's sales reps and they are much more helpful and sincere. The quality of their customer service is exceptional, especially Toyota. Besides the Camry and Maxima looks far better than the Accord. I must be insane to listen to all those crap about the legendary quality and reliability of Honda. By the way, did I say the Honda's customer service stinks as hell.

I honestly can't think of any!

The accord i have is a 1995 accord lx. The 94-95 model is the fastest accord out of all the years, except for the new v6 accord( automatic only :-( and of course the type-R ( not sold in North america. ) The 94-95 model has the OBD-1 wich responds to modifications better than the newer obd's. Also the new accords may have 150hp but there is a weight increase so it is slower. I have installed numurous bolt-ons and have installed a suspension and threw in a racing cam. This car is very fast and can beat the majority of 4 bangers and v-6's out on the road. I have intake, cam, cam gear tuned on the dyno, headers, replaced catylitic converter with straight pipe and have an exhaust. This car weighs 600 pounds more than the new civic si's. This car beats an si with the basic bolt-ons. The f22b engine in the accord has a lot of power to be free'd up.

My advice by a 5th generation accord 94-97 preferably the 94-95 model. You won't be dissapointed!

Strength:

Everything! This car is the best car I have ever owned. I have 2 girls who fit nicely in the backseat. It has a sexy styling to it. I especially love the V-6, this car will fly!

Weakness:

The only problem is that the paint seems to chip easy. I have also had a problem with some staining on the paint job (the car is white). Honda has tried to repair this several times. They even through in a free clear-coat job. We will see what this coming summer holds.

What can you say? Honda's are the best. I have a friend who has 300,000 miles on her 85 Accord and it's the same engine. Also, they are a little pricey but worth it. I agree that Honda service stinks. We bought ours from Huggins Honda in North Richland Hills, TX. I DO NOT recommend going to Huggins. The general manager was about as friendly as a pitbull. But they are selling Hondas so I guess you can act like that when you have a product that sells itself. Otherwise, I love this car and it is worth dealing with lousy Honda service people.

Strength:

Price (I got a good deal, $23,700 for top of the line with taxes included)
Overall Package, no hassle of dealing with options
Roomy, Looks, Performance (high RPM range), Gas Mileage, Highway Cruising Smoothness, hardly any maintainence (24,000 miles in 9 months) only oil change needed

Weakness:

Low-end Performance

I basically wanted the Accord for a long time. Just got out of college and was able to finance my own car with no co-signer so sold my Mitsu and financed an Accord. Was thinking of a BMW 323 sedan. But with all the options, price rose from $26,970 to a staggering $34,000!!!!. Simply couldn't afford it. Acura TL was also a nice choice but it was basically teh same car with more luxurious features. I could do without that. Accord was simply what I wanted, is what I got, and I am very happy with it.

Similar Products Used:

1993 Mitsubishi Diamante I have to admit the Mitsu was quieter on the highways and had technological gadgets that even surprises me till today. remote audio control, 2 position memory seats and a very important feature for me that's lacking on the Accord --> HEATED SIDE REAR VIEW MIRRORS, very important for winter months in Michigan :)
