Honda Accord EXR
Strength:
-In four short years I have driven my Accord 141000KM (80000m. est) the car is build better than any other car on the road. (Three accidents and still not a single rattle and still handles like it's on rails!)
Weakness:
- The only weakness is in the horsepower. 145hp is a little light when you have four large adults in the car and driving up steep grads. - My 1997 Honda Accord EXR is going to be a very difficult car to replace, so much so that I will probably purchase a 2001 Honda Accord EX. The new model is very refined and has all the advantages of my EXR with 5 extra pony's under the hood. I expect the next four years are going to be as service free as the last four years! Similar Products Used: - Toyota Camry 1990 to 1993, I drove this car for three years and clocked 161000km on the tack. No big complaints, both the Camry and Accord are very fine automobiles. I will state for the record the Honda dealership (Portland Street Honda) gave the best service and treated me with every convience I could possibly want. |

- V6 engine, 170 hp, 165 torque
Weakness:
- Antenna SUCKS!! broke like most accord and camary antennas Cool, I'm the 1st review for the 95 Accord EX-V6, not too many people have these since 95 is the 1st yr they introduced the V6 line. Similar Products Used: - '90 camary LX, actually the camary is pretty good, a little lower rpm at 70mph than the accord, dont know what that means since the accord is V6 and the camary is 4 cyl |

Strength:
Greatest strength seems to be drivability. You don't have to work at this - the car seems to read your mind. Another strength is "utility". Everything you pay for has a good purpose or it's not there. There's good interior room. Also, there seems to be a lot of sound absorbing material making it quiet inside.
Weakness:
I have owned it for one week, and I am still in the honeymoon phase, so I havent't found many weaknesses. I get shocks when I exit the car. The seats seem a little hard at first. The most startling thing about the Accord that it feels light and nimble. The interior has a budget level feel, but there are lots of little cubby holes for storing stuff that make it more useful to me than previous cars I have owned. The Radio-CD player is good. The dealership experience was shaky at the first place I went, but excellent at the second and final one. While I am sorry my purchase will send American dollars to foreign business owners, I'm going to continue to do so until American companies (now only Ford and GM) can make cars as good as the foreign ones. Similar Products Used: I owned a six cylinder '96 Ford Contour for five years and loved it. The Accord is 300 pounds heavier and has a four cylinder engine. So far the difference in power is not noticable. I may change my mind on this later, but the 4 cyl Accord seems very close. The Accord is only 4 inches longer, but the interior space is way more. Huge difference. The Contour had aggressive European Sports handling, which I loved. The Accord is more traditional and easier to handle. |

Acceleration is surprisingly fast and totaky unusual for an automatic 4-cylinder. I have dragged against many v6's and leaded them off. i can bet that i have the fastest 4 they make. the power windows and locks are a plus and its good on gas.
Weakness:
well after hard driving i think i have busted my Cv joints and now whenever i turn it makes a clicking noise. the door is a bit** to open cuz the seal is so dam* tight. and like many other Hondas the attena went bad. i have givin this little 4-cylinder a beatin and it still handles very well around corners and i overall i think that this is a very good car. on gas its great and on the highway you can tear it up! Strength:
Roomy leather interior. Comfortable interior. Good pick us the first year of purchase.
Weakness:
The transmission. After 55,000 miles the automatic transmission "gave out". I had to pay $55 p/hour in labor and $3,000 in parts. Now, only a year after this job was performed, the transmission is damages once again. Now it needs an overhaul and the selanoids replaced. This will not cost about $1,400. GOOD JOB HONDA!! Horrible transmission. An engine light that never turns off even after maintenance. I got tired of taking the car in to have the engine light checked, turned off and only weeks later turned on again. The paint scratches easily. I always feel as if I am replacing the front/back brakes. Noisy engine. Similar Products Used: Never bought a Honda prior to this one, and never will. |

Strength:
Overall balance. Great functional car. The engine is torquey and loves to rev. Steering precision is great and the car is nimble. Interior with leather well thought. A lot of space.
Weakness:
Automatic transmission is hesitant when resuming next stop. Exterior styling has been better in the past. I have an automatic, but the shifter in manual is too long. Engine could be a bit quieter and smoother at idle. Not enough basses in the radio. It is funny that some rated it one star at each area; I am sure that they are some kind of trolls. Similar Products Used: It is my second one and I still believe that there is no better car in this class. I was thinking of the Passat, but too pricey and reliability is still questionable, more of that with a turbo and numerous rattles report. Anyway, I like the styling less than I used to. |

Strength:
Awesome handling through tight corners, but has a little understeer. Acceleration is pretty good; I beat Integra's off the line many times.
Weakness:
None.... I had this car like more than 4 years, and still last.. The only problem that I had with it is the Valve noise on the car that time. A little adjusting on the valve will eliminate the noise and the car runs like new.. Similar Products Used: Has more torque than Integra and less noise than Eclipse... |

/ Accord EX 4cyl w/ 5spd
Strength:
The Honda reputation for reliability. The car is luxurious. You get so many accessories stock. Mine has a 6 disc CD changer, moonroof, power windows, locks, keyless entry and much more. It rides so smoothly. It has plenty of passenger room, you're not squeezed in. It is a driver's car. It handles just as well as the similarily priced Jetta if not better. The sound system is great for stock. Everything is placed together so well.
Weakness:
Lacks off the light acceleration. I don't need it anyway, I don't want any tickets! But once on the interstate I couldn't tell I was doing 80! I would advise against the automatic if you like "driving" a car. Other than that, my car is really.....really.....really....NICE! (big word eh?) I also hear the stock tires pretty much suck but read below!!!! I worked the bejesus out of the dealer who helped me. I knew I wanted a Silver Accord EX w/ Leather and 5spd. They had one on the showroom floor w/ cloth and 17" aftermaket rims and the spoiler. I said no. They looked for one to fit my original price ($21,000) but couldn't. So the hardworking dealer came up with the idea of putting the leather from another Accord into mine. Also I got the Lo-jack system and 7yr/100,000mile warranty. Yes, I did have the rims and tire package and spoiler kept on the car! All in all, I got a $27,000 car for $23,000. I feel kinda bad for getting so much but happy I never caved in and got more for less. So I ended up paying $2,000 more, I'm not the loser in this one!(As a tip, if you like Gold and a 5spd they just might discount them) Similar Products Used: 2001 VW Jetta VR6 and 1.8t. These Jettas cost about the same as the Accord I purchased without LEATHER and more than likely moonroof too. I have been a lifelong fan of VW but after taking into account the COMPACT size and questionable quality the Mexican factory has produced so far, it wasn't worth the risk and I knew the Honda was a completely SAFE bet. The Jetta only comes with a 2yr/24,000mile warranty (Honda has a 3yr/36,000mile)and I didn't want to be stuck or have to pay too much to cover this car (wonder how much it'll cost to replace the TURBO in the 1.8t once it dies; it's not even covered by the powertrain warranty 10yr/100,000mile, especially after hearing the "Horror Stories" of others. It blows the doors off of the Accord as far as acceleration but...that's about it. Honda is now my new family. The Accord also shifts much better than the Jetta. |

Smooth ride, VERY nice interior, how it looks, v6 engine
Weakness:
No power passenger seats, brakes aren't that great So far i've had a vastly positive experience with this car. The seats, 6 cd changer in dash, automatic climate control, all really make driving a pleasure. Pretty good performance in terms of speed too...it's hard to stay under 80 on the highway because the engine is so smooth you wont even feel like you're going fast. If nothing else, the car is a pleasure to own simply because it looks good!! Try finding a car for 23k that comes with as much comfort, performance and looks as this...it won't be easy. Similar Products Used: 2000 Prelude: Accord is alot better dollar for dollar...comes with so much more standard but comparable in terms of performance. |
