Strength:

Precision, reliability, ride - I am 6'4"' and drive in my business. My wife drives a 95 Accord and my daughter drives 1 91 Accord, we also have owned a 90 Accord and 92 Civic. Why trade up to higher price cars when Honda is so good.

Weakness:

Engine could be quieter, but not a weakness, great highway car. When the engine gets about 10,000 miles on it really opens up.

Yes, will replace one of my Accords with 2001 or 2, when ready to trade in, but am not in hurry.

Would like to see new 2001 with 16" rims and all wheel drive - that would be a killer for the winter driviing in Kansas.

Model Reviewed: Accord v6 coupe

Strength:

First off, looks.
This is easily the sexiest coupe for it's price range, perfectly nested in the right range for an awesome v6.
Another?
It's a Honda, completely reliable, I push this thing to redline and it PURRS, the main concern about it being a little sluggish off the line is true (nothing a little gas won't cure), but the secret is to drop it to a gear one lower, hit 35, back up to drive, and you hit 0-60 in NO TIME, once your at 35-40, this thing can hit 100+ in ~3 seconds it's amazing.
The leather is gorgeous, very comfortable for long rides, the upgraded stereo package on it is very crisp and sweet, when car and driver reviewed it they mentioned the quietness, when I first got this car, I'd leave the engine on and walk away as was done in the tests, it's true, you can't tell whether it's on or not! The Auto AC is cold as hell, and awesome on long trips, set it 75/78/whatever you're comfy with and let the car cool itself - the digital controls are nice.
Trunk space is adequate.
Backseat is roomy in the coupe.
The doors make a very crisp solid sound when shutting, none of that thin metal sounding nissan-ish noise.
The sexiest part? The DOUBLE exhaust - my main reason for buying this car.
Modifications - Hundreds available, you can make your Honda your own.
Dropdown holder for sunglasses - this is just a wonderful thing.
Coin tray by wheel, 2 center consoles (one big one, a smaller one on top, looks like one total. The top one has holders for quarters, dimes, and nickels.
FIRM - handling is nice and firm around corners, I've taken this up to 125 more than once and there are no shakes, you feel like you're doing 60.

Weakness:

Initial power from stop (nothing a K&N filter, nice gas, and good care doesn't fix).
It's hard to find weaknesses, it's a solid, fun car to drive.

I remember when I had my civic and I test drove this puppy just to see what leather felt like, since then I've sat down in other leather (everything from suv's to sports cars) and there is no comparison, it's padded, looks sexy as hell, the silver/black combination (which I have) and the black/black is just sweet!

I kept my eye out for a good deal on a 98/99 and ended up getting a great one on a 2000, the original owner did around town real estate and put 15k miles on it already and he loved it, wasn't shy in telling me to throw my foot on the gas and test it, he was right, it's a nice firm handling car that takes corners sweetly and drives quietly. I often turn off the radio and everything just to hear nothing, when on asphalt and going 80 or so you still hear nothing, the sealing is very tight and if you turn up the radio a tad you hear everything, it's gorgeous.

There are a lot of little mods I want to put on I haven't seen before on Accords, first off is the Altezza style clear-glass lights (look on ebay for "00 accord altezza"), they're sweet and stylish. Double exhaust is sexy and I want to accentuate(sp?) it with chrome mufflers. Front headlights with clear backings are also sold, makes the car look very cool. Get a set of chrome wheels on this baby and you are just looking at a car that is sexy as hell.

I don't think I can say I love this car enough, when I bought it, I was making about 20k/yr less and ended up on a 400/month 7 year lease through my bank which I re-financed to be much better on the pocketbook. Even paying through the tooth for those first 2 payments I had no gripes, this car is fun to drive, it's fun to look at, it sounds, rides, and feels great and as I stated before there is very little to compare this too. I have yet to see a sporty Camry (sorry, Solara doesn't do it for me), Saturn (sorry had to get off the floor, laughter and all), Nissan (The new maxima is nice, but why can't nissan make a coupe?) so when I ride up next to someone it's always nice to look over and feel comfortable. If you are in the market for a 20k+ car, get this v6 coupe, it's solid, fast, fun and there is so much you can do with it to personalize it.

If you have any other questions about it feel free to email me, I have yet to be dissapointed with a used Honda I've bought and would love to answer any questions anyone has, feel free to hit me up at [a href="mailto:eric.johnson@immedient.com"]eric.johnson@immedient.com[/a]

98 Altima - very nice but nissan seems to have noise problems with belts I imagine once they hit 25k or so, basic GXE package was very nice though, fun car to drive and has some power for a 4 banger.
96 Civic DX - my first car and I loved it, power nothing, but sporty little sexy car for a first, sold it 9 months later to get the accord.
00 Accord - The next car I buy will have to be a Lexus, nothing else compares to the style/feel/comfort of this car.

Incredible Honda reliability and quality. Great power for a 2.2L 4 Cyl engine. Very comfortable seats for the long haul. Visibility is better than any car I have ever driven.

Weakness:

Tire noise. The usual occasional Honda hesitation in their automatic transmission. Nothing else!

Loved this car very much and the person I just sold it to for top dollar feels like he just bought a new car. That makes me feel good.
Just took delivery of a new 2001 Eternal blue Accord Ex w/leather and all the goodies. Beautiful car. I would recommend the Honda Accord to anyone with full confidence.

bad service at dealership
I was unlucky one who got lemon

I bought 2000 Accord Ex Grey 4cy.
first 12000miles were great than, engine started stall while I press clutch, but when I put my gears on engine turned on again.
this is really frustrating because when i tried to make turn and engines are off it is really tough to handle or brake.

I tried to get service, and dealer said I need vacuum something than oxygen sensor. Just after service under warranty, it seems ok but it still, sometimes go into low rpm and struggle..

my car has 15000 miles and I am kind worrying about it.
because after 36k my warranty will ran out...

Isn't accord must be most reliable car in the U.S.?
It least have pretty good used value, but when I was ask for
trade in it is only 18000.
I felt so bad. I only paid for about a yr and my principal is still higher than my value of car when I trade.

I should buy used accord nest time. with much mile on it.
After test driving.

Man I felt unlucky....

Great power, nice seating, and quiet ride.

Weakness:

To be honest everything! Where to begin, well at 37k my transmission went out, and that hurt me since it barly got out of warrnty! Check Engine light comes on for no reason, on a road trip to Washington State it overheated. "NO IT NOT A LEMON" when i first bought it it was perfect, truly what I was lookin for before switching from an American car! I also noticed my sunroof also get stuck in the middle of closing it, and my alternator went out twice already!

Since I do alot of road traveling I have notice that the Accord is not for me, I thought i was but I was rong. What I dont understand is that why iam I having all these problems with it? It not a lemon I have already 39k miles, anyone please e-mail me at AFTXSGT@aol.com if you have any suggestions! Recently also I was in a accident, I DID NOT like the way the car holded up, true the Ford Taurus and Chevy Malibu have better rating in safty, well what is there left to say Japan has my Money, well I guess I will trade this car for an American one.

Model Reviewed: Accord SE

Strength:

Lots of features, keyless entry, cd player, power everything, security system. This car gives great gas mileage. I am a salesman so I know - I do tons of driving! I am very impressed with the performance of this 4 cylinder engine (Vtec 150 hp - 5 speed). All the other companie cars I had were 6 cylinder domestic cars (taurus, lumina, corsica, and plymouth voyager)and i'd have to say this 4 cylinder would rival all of them. The SE also has awesome alloy mags on it. Interior is very nice - near luxury, really. I also have a family and the roominous of the interior is very impressive.

Weakness:

The only complaint i have deals with road noise. The noise is nothing compared to the voyager, but i heard that hondas were supposed to be really quiet. Also, the two filled in spaces on either side of the cruise control button raddle when i drive over rough surfaces - very annoying, but probably very easy to fix.

If you want a reliable & economical vehicle the accord is a must. The luxury car features & handling abilities are icing on the cake. When this car is polished up it looks outstanding, especially with the alloy rims. I have the signet silver color - very metallic. I actually had a passerby say "nice Lexus" to me.
If you want a gas guzling V6 that barely outperforms a 4 cylinder accord and will be worth peanuts after 5 years than by an intrepid, taurus, or lumina. The accord SE may not be the fastest car on the block or the best handling, but lets remember it's a sedan - not a sports car. Compare the accord to cars in its own class and it clearly becomes the best choice in my opinion. Buy the 5 speed and enjoy the driveabilty and performance of the 4 cylinder accord. I actually thought i was driving a 6 cylinder on the test drive!

Strength:

good acceleration for a 4 cylinder, can beat any car at the red light, cold air, easy to customize and it looks real good, you can put fog lights on it any kind of spoliers and will still look good, kits, clear taillights, anything that can be added to a car can be added to this car, inside looks real clasy and is real comfortable for a car from 92'

Weakness:

bad on gas, the lighter came off about 2 months after i got it and the handle on the passenger side broke, tires and brakes not so good in heavy rain,

1992 honda accord is my favorite car and i think its a good car all except for the fact thats its bad on gas its the best car i have ever driven, honda accords are better than both camrys and corollas and preludes, a 92 honda accord can outrun a 95 prelude!

- Powerfull engine
- Looks great

Weakness:

EVERYTHING!
- Leather seats are falling apart
- They had to deassemble the interior roof twice for some cracking noise
- ALMOST LOST THE REAR LEFT WHEEL (Actually it felt into the machanics arms when he lift the car)
- They had to change the fuel gauge
- The will have to change dthe windshield washer gauger
- No winter tire available conform the the mag size (16" 205/65) I had to buy CR-V rims and put winter tire on them.
- Noisy at high speed
- Road handling could be a lot better (actualy the VW golf hands the road better than the accord)

I'm very disapointed in honda, they usually make good cars however this one is piece of crap. Hopefully they got better over the subsecent years.

Model Reviewed: Honda Accord LX

Strength:

I like the excellent sound quality, It came with radio, cassette, and cd changer.
It also performs very smoothly no problems so far.
I also love how it looks, much nicer then the Toyota Camrys, and Accords in Japan.
Lots of power with a V4 engine, only 2100 miles on it.
Strong AC, and I love the Satin Metallic Silver Color.
It also has cool accesories like the spoiler (it matches very well, not like on camrys), and their in deck cd changer.

Weakness:

The only weakness the Honda Accord has is the paint scratches easily. The reason I got the car is because my friend has an 2000 Accord EX V6. His car was grand.

I just love my Honda Accord 2000 LX. I got it for $18000.00 and that was a steal. They just got it in the day before we bought it. It was made and sent from Japan to Hawaii. In it I got the spoiler, cd changer, mats, dash covers for the front and back, 10 year warranty, rust proof spray, water proof spray on the seats, AC, power everything, and the security alarm. I think if your a High school or college student you should get this car, Its fantastic.

Model Reviewed: Honda Accord EX V6 Coupe

Strength:

-Occasional head-turns from passerbys on the street (but only because of accessories like the under body kit and rear wing)
-Shines like mad after a good, long hand wash
-Unique "San Marino Red" paint looks almost like the red used on Ferraris
-No mechanical problems so far
-Can run on unleaded regular...and thats for a pretty big V6

Weakness:

There just seems to be so much I dont like...lets begin with:
-Flat, family car styling for a coupe, and needs Honda's factory-authorized and grossly expensive "Under-Body Spoiler Kit" and rear wing to make any kind of visual presence
-WHAT!!?? ARE THEY FOR REAL WITH THIS ENGINE?? Is this really a 200-horse V6? This thing has NO (excuse me) balls off the line...nothing. With the automatic transmission, which is the only kind available on the top of the line model, its even worse...the Camaro and Firebird's 200-horse V6s will blow this thing into the trees off the line...what is Honda thinking?
-Why is this car so much money when drop-dead-gorgeous performance cars like the Camaro and Firebird are less expensive and offer lots more?
-For a so-called "Mid-Size Coupe" this car has no body to it; every car in its class is longer than it---the Chevy Monte Carlo, Pontiac Grand Prix, Chrysler Sebring....why does the Accord have no length or width? It looks so wimpy in the lane when there's a bigger car or truck in the next lane over...I dont feel special in this thing
-Constantly getting my doors blown off in stoplight shootouts...the car has no power-to-weight reasoning...it feels too heavy to pick up and launch like crazy
-Fuel economy sucks; my dad's 1997 Special Edition Accord sedan with the LX's 4-banger under the hood sips fuel while my coupe sucks it down.
-Engine makes no "get outta my way" sounds when pressed hard.

This list can go on and on....believe me.

In this world of SUV-ravaged roads and highways, it is very hard to say just where two-door coupes fit anymore. While many have predicted the death of the sporty coupe over these last couple of years, the concept of an affordable, mid-sized two door has come back full boil, with new entries like the Mercury Cougar, Toyota Solara, Mitsubishi Eclipse, and my car which I am going to analyze...the Honda Accord Coupe. While trucks still box us in on the road and make us coupe drivers feel like little ants on a somewhat larger than normal anthill, the coupe still holds allure because of its sharp styling...but I don't believe the Accord Coupe from Honda has any of the tributes needed to stand out on the dangerous, competitive roadways of today.

My San Marino Red EX V6 Accord Coupe was picked up on Halloween 1998 as a 1999 model, and I ordered it with almost every factory accessory...such as the Under-Body Spoiler Kit (Honda speak for "ground effects"), rear spoiler, stainless steeled exhaust tips (why is this an OPTION???!!), fog lights, cassette deck inside, moonroof visor, and added dark chocolate-brown tinted glass, which looks nice in contrast to the red paint. Off the bat, this car has no engine...200 horsepower V6? Then why is every car on the road passing me when the light turns green? The acceleration sucks for a nearly 30 grand car...Another problem is that the car virtually gets no respect...I realize its only a Honda, and Acura and Lexus buyers are never gonna notice it anyway, but if you saw how flashy and shiny this car looks when I finish washing and detailing it, it is understandable when I say its heartbreaking that not everyone notices me pulling up to a red light. Now, dont get me wrong...I get plenty of people commenting about the car most everywhere I go...but the car does not get the everyday "street" respect that a Mustang GT or Camaro Z28 would get. Originally, I had my heart set on a Camaro or Firebird, but General Motors was on strike at the time and I couldnt get a car. At any rate, my Accord has a tick over 16,000 miles on it now, and I still complain about the same things...the seats are terrible, way too hard and cause too much pain for a long commute such as mine (almost an hour and a half each way to my job)...because of the lack of power, the bad seats, and the lack of visual respect, I find myself driving my father's 1997 Special Edition Accord sedan much more often. Amazingly, compared to my coupe, the '97 sedan feels a load more comfortable (especially on road trips), and feels like it can "take the road" and the commute much better than my coupe can...sure, the sedan is lot more boring to look at and the engine practically does not exist, but I just plain feel better behind the wheel...can it be that I have simply outgrown sporty coupes? At 27, I really must be getting old...anyway, the Special Edition sedan has become sort of like my second car, because my parents are always in our third car, a '97 Mercedes E320, which they use to go everywhere...so the '97 Accord really isnt getting used for anything except for my commuting duties, and so be it.

Now, with the 1999 Accord Coupe, which should be the focus of this review, I would never recommend it...for the money, I would get an American muscle car, which could light up and liquify its tires with a hard press of the throttle, scaring the aggressive jerk in the lane next to you in the BMW who was planning on cutting you off when the light turned green...this Accord is sure priced like a so-called performance car, but it has no performance....trust me, people. What are the 0-60 times for the Accord anyway? Something like 7.8 seconds or 8 seconds flat? That is horrible!!! How can Honda even post numbers like that??? Any other car in the Accord's class can beat those numbers, and the American cars I mentioned can do 0-60 runs in the 5 second range....and most are less money than the Honda! If you wanna go mid-sized luxury, I would look at the aggressive, beautiful Pontiac Grand Prix GTP or Chevy Monte Carlo...cars that look and feel like they have guts. This is going to be my last Honda. Don't buy this car if you are young and need to be respected in a stylish coupe on the road, because 9 times outta 10 its not gonna happen...
