Strength:

I BOUGHT THE ACCORD THE WEEK THE NEW MODEL CAME OUT AND I HAVE BEEN QUITE HAPPY WITH THE CAR. THE ACCORD HAS MANY STRENGTHS INCLUDING A TERRIFIC STEERING FEEL, EXCELLENT ALL AROUND HANDELING, PLENTY OF ROOM, FAIRLY GOOD GAS MILAGE, AND EXCELLENT RELIABILITY.

Weakness:

THE ONLY WEAKNESS THAT I COULD THINK OF AND IT CERTAINLY DID NOT DETER ME FROM BUYING THE CAR IS THE STYLING OF THE REAR. I FIND IT QUITE BLAND IN COMPARISON TO THE SIDE VIEW AS WELL AS THE FRONT.

AS I STATED EARLIER, I BOUGHT MY ACCORD THE FIRST WEEK THE NEW MODEL AND BODY STYLE CAME OUT AND THINK THAT IT IS A TERRIFIC CAR IN THE MIDSIZE CLASS. I HAVE HAD IT JUST SHORT OF THREE YEARS AND IT HAS BEEN EXTREMELY RELIABLE AND I HAVE 68000 MILES ON MINE. WHAT I ENJOY MOST ABOUT THE CAR IS THAT IT IS A DRIVERS CAR AND IS FUN TO DRIVE. I HAVE TAKEN IT ON MANY LONG TRIPS AND I FIND THE SEATS QUITE SUPPORTIVE. THE FEELING OF THE STEERING BECAUSE OF THE WISHBONE SUSPENSION IS WONDERFUL. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE CAR TO ANYONE LOOKING IN THE MIDSIZE CATEGORY. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR WOULD LIKE TO DISCUSS THE ACCORD, DROP ME A LINE AT pettyfeversk@aol.com.

Similar Products Used:

I LOOKED AT A NUMBER OF MIDSIZE CARS THAT WERE PRIMARILY FOREIGN AS I HAVE HAD VERY GOOD EXPERIENCES WITH BOTH HONDAS AND TOYOTAS. I LOOKED AT THE NEW CAMRY BUT HATED THE STYLING OF THE CAR AS WELL AS THE VISABILITY. I THOUGHT THAT THE RIDE OF THE ACCORD WAS FAR SUPERIOR TO THAT OF THE CAMRY.

Model Reviewed: Accord Coupe EX V6

Strength:

Comfortable, Stylish, And Fast. This car very comfortable and pleasent to drive. At 120mph you still have a lot of control. Beats most cars from the line, even without any modification.

Weakness:

Horse power arrives after 4500RPM, At 5500 RPM You can feel the surge of power. Therefore, it is dose not feel powerful for normal day to day communte.

For a 20 something young single, this is the perfect car. It is a perfect match of style, Comfort and perfomance. With this car you can communte to work with a smile. Definitly a head turner(maybe not as much when it first came out two years ago).
The 2000 EX V6 also come with front and side airbags. Leather seats are comforable but could be better.
Paid 22600 + tax and fees for it. it is a great value.

buy it if:
your are in your 20s,
single,
want to have fun,
want the reliablity,
and Fun again :)

Don't buy it if:
You only want a communter,
want more luxury (go for a maxima),
want softer ride,
want more hip styling,
want more low rpm power.

Similar Products Used:

1999 Camary V6, Smoother transmission. but total lack of style.
2000 Eclispe GT, faster more stylish but to small, if you have more then one friend don't buy it.
1999 Maxima V6, More luxerouse but to fat for my taste. (an babyboomer car)

Strength:

-reliable for a used car
-engine noise
-dash well laid out

Weakness:

-white smog comes out of my air conditioning
-the car jumps on me when I change gears from Park,Drive,Reverse
-Poor acceleration

$9K. Yes, the car is very fun to drive. Try adding new intakes and exhaust for more fun. The only problem i had was my radiator busted on me. The nice fuel economy is good when the fuel prices are up. The 93 models and below i think are made in Japan so i guess the build quality is good. I really hate when the car jumps on me while i change gears from P to D or R. Vise versa.

Strength:

Awesome acceleration for an automatic and power is so easy to get more of with the right aftermarket products like I have done. Roomy. Quiet except for my aftermarket exhaust.Reliability big time. Rides very well.

Weakness:

Not a whole lot to say here...I find the seats a lil uncomfortable..the brakes do need a lil work...thats all the lows of this car...not much huh?

7500 when it had 96,000 miles on it... it has almost 140,000 and hasn't missed a lick, I am very impressed with it and plan on keeping it for another 2 or 3 years.

Model Reviewed: Accord EX sedan 4-Cylinder Manual

Strength:

Value - for $20,500, it easily beat out similarly optioned Camry and Maxima.
Exterior look - probably the best looking Accord to date.
Roominess - I'm 6'1" and I have no problems with headroom. I can sit in the back without much problem either (though not as much headroom as front.)
Ergonomics - what can you say, Honda has this department down pat. I can probably run through all the switches and knobs with my eyes closed and know what I am pressing.
Handling - for a sedan, it handles well. Obviously it's not a Miata or S2000, but it's not a slouch either (would be even better with better OEM tires.)
Tranny - snick, snick! What a joy the manual is! Get the manual tranny!!
Resale value - If I ever need to trade in or sell my car, I know I am going to get good money back (a friend of mine recently sold his '89 Accord LX with 150k miles for $3500.)

Weakness:

Rattle - underside of the dash and on the front passenger door. Annoying.
Tires - OEM Michelins are not the best. Also narrow for a car that weights 3300 lbs.
Stereo - 6 spkr stereo is bad. No bass from cheap paper cone 6x9s and tweeters are useless (inexpensive $30 Pioneer 6"s and $40 6.x9s improved the sound a great deal.)

In short, I would wholeheartedly recommend Accords to anyone who wants a reliable car they are planning on driving for a long time. When it's all said and done, it will still have a great resale value.

I haggled big-time and got a great deal - $400 over invoice WITH mudguards! :)

Similar Products Used:

I considered and test-drove the following:
Camry - nice car but was about $2500 more for same option-ed car.
Maxima - more sporty but quality little more suspect.
A4 - Great car. Would have been a stretch budget-wise, and once warranty runs out, you can expect to shell out heck of a lot more $$$ for repairs and maintenance. Useless back seat (children only) and gas mileage is terrible (my friend gets 20mpg with his A4 1.8T FWD!!)

I've owned:
90 Integra - Drove it to 120,000 miles. Had the compression test done before selling it and it was same as a new car! Amazing. Survived 4 years of college, numerous cross-country trips (Seattle to LA, Philly, Provo, etc.) and back yard tinkering by yours truly. :) Not one mechanical problem. I once overheated the car by installing the replacement thermostat backwards. I mean the steam was spewing out like the car was on fire. But, while on the shoulder of a freeway, got my tools out, fixed it after it cooled down (3 hours later) and drove it back home and another 30,000 miles without even a gasket or hose problem.

Strength:

Reliable as they make it!! BEen owning it since new (that is, baaack in 1985) and now still runs like new, aside from some minor rattles caused by badly re-installed door side mouldings. Will fix it soon though.

still good milege. reliable interior (little wear & tear).

Accelerates well! Very fast on these old 4-cyl models (120hp?) Can manage something like 0-60 in 11 secs. Give or take a second.

Weakness:

"Booming" induction sound when accelerating... it's getting old. Engine might need a tune-up soon.

16 years of usage about has taken its toll on the auto trans, which won't shift properly in D4. (D3 still shifts smoothly).

Weak stereo system.

Drive shaft fails very often and prematurely. This might be caused by improper installation or something from my mechanic though...

Used to be my dad's car, now bought from him...

how can I say this; -

this is one fine car! interior wears very little after 16 years, exterior has some slight rust caused by a minor accident with another lesser car.. other than that, exterior like new. loud tire noise at highway speeds, (but I'm talking about a 16 yr old car here, wonder how other cars of same age sound). nice engine still going strong! auto-trans needs some work done or replaced. features include cruise control (yep still works) and power windows, very light power steering, independant suspension that holds the road well during cornering and smooth out bumps. very nice package overall. anyone with an extremly tight budget a car this of age should be on your list!

Similar Products Used:

1992 Proton Saga (www.proton.com) This car is to a Hyundai what a Hyundai is to a a Mercedes. Protons are essentially Mitsubishis, with same engine and all, but interior falls apart 3 MONTHS after bought. Piece of junk and worthless resale value.

Model Reviewed: Accord LX V6 4 Door

Strength:

reliability, ergonomics, space, engine, handling. Great acceleration.
It's a hot rod, and also a great family car.

Weakness:

Brakes could be stronger, though i believe they are better than other family sedans like the camry and the MAxima.

I paid a little below list, but then i was the first kid on the block with the new Accord V6 in 98. I got mine in Nov 1997. I recommend it highly if you are looking for a family sedan with automatic. It handles like a luxury sports sedan, and i am not kidding. It;s suspension and engine are similar to the much lauded Acura legendGS of a few yearsa go, a car that cost over $40K a few years ago.
I have owned it for 3 years, and will continue to own it or at least 5 more. Awesome car..no regrets whatsoever.
SOmetimes i like to beat cars at lights, and so far i have smnoked most cars. The pickup is awesome...and itl;s a great sleeper. IT also takes curves very well. Very nice handling. brakes could be better, they wobble, but i believe most family sedans have lousy brakes and tires. I'll probably look into new tires and brakes at about 40,000 miles. Right now i have put in onlly 23000 miles.

Similar Products Used:

I test drove the Camry (it sucked: too soft and bland a ride) and the maxima. Also the passat. I like Honda for their reliability and the fun to drive aspect in their cars. I think this is the best autoimatic shift family sedan out there for the money...in retrospect i may have dished out an additional $200 for the EX, but hey, i am really happy with the LX.

Strength:

Reliability and build quality

Weakness:

Power, sportiness, fun to drive, noise.

With one major exception, this has been an extremely reliable car which still drives very well after 145,000 miles. The exeption was a major engine gasket failure. Most of the oil ran out of the engine but the light did not come on until about 45 miles later. THERE WAS NO ENGINE DAMAGE!!! The garage replaced the gasket and timing belt($550) and I have driven the car for another 25,000 miles without problems.
Day-to-day this car is like a kitchen utensil. Reliable and but boring. I have a 2.2 liter 4 cylinder engine which is noisy but gets good gas mileage. However, I love it because reliabily gets me to work. I think that I will always own a Honda to commute but want another car for exitement.
Bottom line: Great value and reliability but needs a dose of exitement!
