Accord EX V6 Coupe
Strength:
1) Turbine-smooth, powerful engine
Weakness:
1) No manual trans available I shopped for a car to replace my Camry for about 6 months, finally narrowing the choices down to the Toyota Celica, the Volkswagon Jetta, and the Accord Coupe. I know, a diverse short-list, but I don't need my car to perform any specific function (i.e. shlep kids around, impress people, etc.). I just wanted a car that I could feel good about driving, and that would last forever. The Honda won because of its combination of value, styling, and features. Accord LX Coupe
Strength:
Even though it's a coupe, this car is spacious and comfortable. The 4-cylinder engine is a bit more powerful than I expected, and the exterior is a lot more stylish than the sedan. It looks especially good with the optional rear spoiler and alloy wheels! The 6 CD changer in the dash works great and barely takes up any space. The car handles well, accelerates with confidence, and provides a smooth and quiet ride.
Weakness:
The braking distance is only fair, and the front disc brakes are partially visible if you get 5-spoke alloy wheels. But these are only tiny drawbacks compared to the strengths of the car. I paid around $21,900 for the LX Coupe with alloy wheels, rear spoiler, 6 disc in-dash CD changer, floor mats, and the Valugard protection package. Similar Products Used: None |

EX V6 Sedan
Strength:
Mine is white with the tan leather. I really think that this is a good looking car. Despite the problems that I will list below, I must say that the 6 is very quick when the VTEC kicks in.
Weakness:
No 5spd on the V6. Nissan offers it on the MAX and Toyota even offers it on the Camry V6. What's the deal? I bought this car two months ago and I am almost completely dissatisfied. 2 weeks after I bought it, I went to the mall for about 10-15 minutes. When I returned the car wouldn't start. I immediately called the dealer and they told me that there was a problem with the Accord V6. Supposedly when the weather warms up in areas that have winter gas mixtures, the gas evaporates in the line in V6's that have been warmed up and shut off for 10 minutes. Whenever it happens the engine light goes on also. I've been to the dealer three times and all they could do was reset the light. The dealer called me to let me know that there was a fix for the problem from Honda, but I honestly don't trust it. If it happens again, (4th time legally falls under the Lemon Law) I am taking action. When I start the car, it shutters like a car with 90k miles on it that never had any maintenance performed. I paid a little over 22k for it, and I regret it more than anyone will know. I should have gone with the Camry V6. I would have lost 6 horses and gained so much piece of mind. I also own a 1991 Camry V6 with over 100k miles on it and am happier than a kid in a candy store. NO PROBLEMS AT ALL. This was my mom's car before I got married and I know the complete history of it. Not one problem other than routine maintenance on that Camry, and I will drive it until it dies. My recommendation is: don't go for hype, sometimes the car that seems the most boring will be the best car that you've ever owned. The 2000 Camry seems like a blah car, but I'm totally convinced that I wouldn't have had 1/1000th the headache that this Accord has given me. DX (4 dr, auto, beige)
Strength:
The '86-'89 look of the car with the retracting headlights is so cool and the dashboard shape as well. Engine never leaked a drop of oil and mine has 197,000 miles on it. With normal maintenance and if no one steals it, a car like this will last a very long time.
Weakness:
If you are not blessed with mechanical ability, every part in the car is expensive to replace. Replacing the fuel pump, and fixing the a/c with a compressor, for example, will cost alot of $$$. The brakes on these cars dont seem to be anything special. Glove compartment & dashboard seem prone to vibration noise which is irritating to listen to. I got mine in Sept. '95. When I applied for the Title from DMV, I found out the odometer had been rolled back to 62k mi. The actual mileage was 182K! I love the car but at $4900 I overppaid for it - from this experience I learned to always check a car's VIN # with DMV or the service CarFax, before buying. The seller vanished so I could not retrieve any money. My fear is that I know how desireable Honda's are to thieves. Mine is in great looking and running condition. But at 13 years old it does not make sense to have theft insurance since I would only get back the book value of the car. It would be painful to spend alot of $$$ replacing parts and then to have the car stolen. I hope my transmission lock, Medeco key hoodlock/cutoff switch , steering wheel club, vin# glass etching and keeping it in my backyard will be enough to prevent losing it to some lowlife thief. The Police Dept here will do nothing about helping locate stolen cars ("Thanks Alot!") Similar Products Used: 1987 Mitsubishi Galant - This was a great car - unfortunately was stolen so I dont know how it wouldve held up in the long run - dont see too many on the road like you do Honda's. Everyone I know was impressed with this car when I had it - cool black color and some unique features such as an electronic suspension. A shame they downsized it into something ugly looking in '89. |

EX V6
Strength:
V6 is fairly powerful. Lots of nice features for the price:
Weakness:
Interior noise is bad, for a car of this price. Tire noise in very high; squeaks everywhere in the interior. Transmission sucks9 i already had to change mine after 35k miles), and also auto shifting is a pain. I havde to constanlty keep wipping the engine with my foot to the floor. Exterior Paint has bad quality, you can scratch the paint almost with your nails. Well, let me put it this way: I won't buy this car again. I think I should step up to something much better, like BMW 328. I would recomend this car to someone looking for the best bang for the buck, not a good sports sedan. -150 hp engine is as strong as one can ask for. I had a 95 prelude with a 160hp five speed and they are very alike

Honda Accord LX V6 Coupe
Strength:
Its a very well balanced car. It has an attractive sporty look, Honda reliablity, great acceleration and brakes w/ ABS, very smooth and quiet ride and its roomy for a coupe. Too much to say.
Weakness:
It can tend to get noisy with interior rattling. The stock sound system is also fairly weak. I paid $22,400 for the car considering it had only 26 miles on it. I would totally recommend this car if you are looking for a little of everything especially if you're looking for a sporty-coupe. Once people say sporty its not gonna be roomy, but not in the Accords case. Similar Products Used: 1990 Accord and 1994 Pathfinder. Big difference especially in acceleration. It can get to 100 mph without struggling. |

Honda accord v6 ex sedan
Strength:
This car is really powerful. I love the v6 and its acceleration. Its sporty looking and its interior design. 200hp is good enough to compete with most of the other v6.
Weakness:
I don't like how it only comes in automatic. For a powerful car like this it should have 5 speed manual. The thing I don't like about the car is its weak stereo and how it only comes with cd player as standard for the ex model. It should come with cd and cassette deck. I paid a fairly good price for my accord. I would strongly recommend it to other people if you like luxurious and sporty cars. Similar Products Used: I have a 98 nissan maxima se and it can compete with it. The only difference is I like my interior on the maxima better then my accord. But on the accord the engine is better and more powerful. You can hook up the accord more then the maxima. |

EX V6 COUPE
Strength:
Excellent Engine/Power, Price, Looks (Silver Coupe), very stable in high speed and lane changes, brakes feel nice, great value!
Weakness:
Stock "Deluxe" Receiver sucks, speakers are weak as well. The transmission needs some time to "learn" your driving habit, could use more torque in low speed but otherwise fine! 25000 out the door (includes everything), abit pricey for an "Accord", but this is the coupe and V6 with leader/moonroof, everything. I highly recommend it if you want a good balance of drivability, sensibility, road feel, handling, good looks and reliability. Highly recommended!
