Strength:

Honda image, general handling.
resale value

Weakness:

overpriced for what it offers, a nissan altima offers similar ride and handling. if you were sitting with your eyes closed you would not know which car you were in.

styling is very dated and gets boring very quick. Honda needs to take styling cues from nissan and mazda.

I think if people want to play it safe they can go for accord. My accord was in a shop so often that I almost thought it was a Saab in disguise.

There are many better options out there, the maxima, the passat, the millenia.

I am getting rid of this overhyped piece of crap next week and getting a maxima.

Similar Products Used:

Nissan Maxima: beats accord in every single category hands down.
Camry: better ride but not worse handling
Galant: better handling, better styling,

Strength:

Excellent vehicle, 33,000 miles on it. Previous driver barely drove the thing. Great mileage, comfort options. Smooth looks great with rims. Excellent car for my age 21... Handles excellent, Easy to modify.Perfect size if you don't have a family of 4. If you don't have a spoiler get one, the car looks 30% sharper, and also get a full bra for the front, trust me the paint on the bottom bumper will thank you for it..(I needed to get the front bumper repainted.

Weakness:

Could be a bit quieter, don't like the electric antenna, I don't think I've driven it long enough to determine a lot of weaknesses.Trust me, with the modifications I've made to this car..it ain't weak. I've dusted Mustangs, preludes, integras, thunderbirds. I don't mess with the trans-am's though. Big mistake!!!

I paid 11,000 (16,000) after modifications)dollars for this ride and i think it was great investment. People's heads turn more at my car than any sixth generation accord(My accord has been modified.(rims..exhaust.spoiler.increased horspower to over 200(expensive), but it will take any 2000stock v-6 accord( which I think looks cool) anytime.I've got the 4-cylider too no v-tech. Tight is the only word that describes this car(even when it was all stock)I guess all I 'm trying to say is that Honda's are fun cars to play with if you like that sort of thing and I do. Buy a car you know you will love, and I still believe that if you love your car and take care of it, it will give you miles of worry free driving no matter what kind of car it is.

Similar Products Used:

I test drove new cars like camery's and american cars in it's class which were much more expensive and even new accords and this one Just drove like new and outdid the cars with just 100 miles on them. I drove a similar accord a 1998, which I think is to big unless you've got a family, and this car out did them all with the price I got it for. My friend has the same exsact car with over a 116000 miles on it and it runs awesome(He takes care of it though)There are people out there who just don't take care of there cars and then whine about problems. There should be an auto-abuse help line for people like that! TAke CARE OF YOUR VEHICLE AND IT WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU!!!!!!!!!!

-200 h.p. smooth V-6 engine car
-handles great
-very nice and solid ride
-fit and finish are excellent

Weakness:

cd/stereo has wonderful sound but will not impress people who love tons of volume.

I got rid of my civic ex because I an just not a 4 cylinder person. I like the smoothness and power of a larger engine and the v-6 accord is just perfect. I am very impressed with the way it performs and handles. It was not that long ago that you needed a turbo or supercharger to get 200 horsepower out of a v-6. In fact many v-8's would not put out that kind of power only a few years back. Honda has produced a 200 h.p. v-6 that is smooth an quiet. Putting together a v-6 like this one is not really so amazing others are doing it. However, as part of a package as good as the accord with honda's reliability, a car and driver ten best, this is a great car at a fair price. I understand the people who want a v-6 5 speed and I think honda should offer it to them. For me I have had a corvette if I wanted a sports car I would buy another one. I think cars should be built to be good at what they do you can polish a pig if you want but it will always be a pig. If you want a hot rod buy one if you want a great well priced sedan that just feels great and will last buy yourself an accord.

Strength:

Slick and clean design, even a little stunning at times. Smooth as can be, drives like a dream. Interior is the most clever and comfortable of any car I have ever encountered in this class. Worth every penny.

Weakness:

Interior rattles and squeaks. Transmission is pitiful at times, excellent at others, I wish i would make up it's mind.

We paid about 26,000 with tax title and license. I think we paid a little too much but it was the only one on the lot and I just wanted it that bad. Besides the rattles which the dealership has been unable to repair and has acted more or less like I am just a little crazy over, I have loved every minute with the car and would recomment it. Mine is pearl black with a spoiler and chrome tipped dual tail pipes, and when it's clean and a pretty day it does actually manage to turn heads on the Univerity of Texas campus. My uncle has a brand new ES 300 and while I can't say my car is as nice, it comes very very close when you consider the price gap. For a 21 year old college student it is a dream car.

Styling cues, it has recent lines and a clean look.
Decent power considering....
Nice interior, looks *almost* like a luxury car.
High market saturation = high availibility of parts
Honda dependibility
good gas milage
easy to work on.

Weakness:

just one thing, damn vacuum lines.

well, in 1998 I paid $4000 for the car, and I have been *really* happy with it... It was my first car and I used it to go to school, and commute to work with. I like it alot. When driving it is quiet, peppy, and enjoyable. The paint has maintained in its 13 years of life, along with the interior, and styling. In all, I would _highly_ recomend this car for just about everyone, and I would note that I've only had to do one repair of it and that was the result of neglegance on my part.

Strength:

handling (EX)
torquey four
just right steering

Weakness:

-Cost of service
-door handles, cigarette light broke off
-everyone drives one

I have a 2dr EX coupe. Its a 92. It has a sportier suspension than most other accord models. The 92 EX has three things other models don't: 140hp engine, ABS, airbag. Some other EX frills include sunroof, 4 whl disc brakes, and alloy wheels, along with improved suspension components.
have the auto trans, and merging on the highway is not really a problem. The trans usually feels like its in the right gear, but can sometimes feel long winded (stays in gear longer than you want it to) when the going gets slow. I drove other Accords before this one, and they all seemed torquey at the low end, but ran out of breath at the high revs. This engine dosen't neccesarily "come alive" at high rpm the way VTEC's do, but their is a definte improvement at the top end compared w/ 130/125 hp model. Note: passing can be accomplished without fear. This model had a special larger exhaust manifold, which is mainly where the horsepower increase comes from. I test drove a 2000 accord four and it was a differnet story. Merging w/ fast moving traffic was scary, (Read: no low end torque to get you moving) but high end power was noticibly improvedNot so in my 92. This car jumps of the line, due to its good low speed torque and throttle linkage settings. The engine never sounds harsh or labored at high RPMs, contrasting w/ Atima and Camry fours, which make unnerving rasping sounds when passing. Overall this is a very responsive car, in acceleration, steering and brakes. The visability is the best of any car I ever driven, and better (in my opinion) than 95% of the cars out on the road, including new Hondas. This is best handling car I've driven. The body dosen't lean in turns, it changes direction , quickly, responsively and predictably even in hard corners. The ride is smooth, passing over most bumps without jolting.
If you enjoy driving, and don't have a fortune to spend on a used car, this is probably your best bet. I considered Maxima, Stanza, Civic, G20, and finally found I liked Accord best. If you want a fun to drive, responsive, cheap (6-9K) car, do yourself a favor and at least try the Honda, preferablely the EX with the 140hp.
This car is very fun to drive. I would recommend only the EX for college students. The 1992 EX coupe is different/better than the average LX/DX ones, so get a better one if you can afford it.
I like this better than the Prelude b/c it is cheaper for insurance, repair, has a normal sized trunk, and can fit four people in some semblence of comfort.
For this price range and size class, I thinks its the best compromise between sportiness and value.

Similar Products Used:

Camry: raspy engine 4-6K rpm, anemic four (94-96) on hills, and on highway this engine strains and asks for mercy, wallowy ride; get used to the term "body roll"
Altima: fun, responsive, better brakes than Accord, worse handling
Legend (92): big, powerful, accurate steering, expensive to service, handles better than Camry, but still weighs 600 lbs more than Accord, expect "soft" ride

Strength:

The comfort, space, design, and handling of this car are nearly perfect. The styling is a little plain, but I think it still looks sleek and a little elegant. I'd like to see an affordable model with a V6 engine.

Weakness:

Nothing, really.

$20,115 for Accord LX w/ rear spoiler and 6-CD changer. I would definitely recommend this car to anyone looking for a high-quality car that's not too expensive. If you want powerful V6 engine for an affordable price, the Accord wouldn't be your best choice, but it's a great car, nonetheless!

Model Reviewed: /Accord EX 2.3L 5 spd

Strength:

Elegant styling, reasonable performance, value and quite roomy.

Weakness:

Honda, like many other products is on the cost cutting quest and it shows. Average engine power from the 2.3 (VETEC)5 spd. Poor sound quality radio/CD, Cheesy lumbar adjustment in seats,

First of all, if You have driven a German car I fail to understand why you would purchase a Honda. The Passat is superior to the Accord in every way! The Jetta with the 1.8T GLS with alloys and monsoon audio is incredible and destroys the Accord in everything except in roominess. Prices are as follows: Passat $23,795; Jetta GLS $21,295; Accord EX $21,050; Contour Sport $14,995, Focus ZX3 $12,500 w A/C. Saturn SC2 $17,000.

I have driven all cars listed with manual 5 spd only. The Passat is a beautiful car all around!!!! The Jetta is second and will be my next car with the 1.8T engine. Accord is over rated and over popular right now which has kept resale high, but that will be changing. Contour Sport has a wonderful 2.5L engine that is extremely quiet and more powerful than all the other cars tested. Contour did a great job on the drive train and suspension but Ford cut corners in other areas. Contour had the worst sounding stereo/CD by far (and it was premium sound)!!! Focus...this little (but not to small) car was a surprise, I tested the ZX3 and found it very fun and easy to drive. The seat and it's position are very good, stereo/CD is excellent, Spunky 2.0 zetec engine and all around a very good car especially considering the price!!! The ZX3 needs a center arm rest and that’s it! The Saturn SC2 had a spunky 1.9 liter similar to the focus. Both the focus and the SC2 will out accelerate the Accord. Accord was the slowest and had the second worst stereo of all cars tested, poorly positioned arm rest in the Accord also.

Interested in reliability? Honda is an expensive car to be worked on! If the timing belt brakes, You will be forking over $2000 minimum (I don't know if Honda has corrected this problem yet) The Honda automatics are junk. If you buy a Honda get the five speed! By the way...I owned a 1986 Ford Escort GT 1.9 EFI through 1997 then gave it to a friend. That car never had been to a garage except for one alignment in 235,000 mile and 14 years!!! I performed all maintenance on the vehicle including two timing belt, brake pads/shoes (new rotors once), two water pumps when timing belts were changed, four sets of tires, three muffler/tail pipes. All replacement parts were factory Ford(except tires which I used a 6 ply unidirectional tire that was awesome!). Most aftermarket parts are inferior. Check out this list of all original parts never touched in 235,000 miles!!!...Head never off, alternator, starter, radiator, clutch, trans, brake cylinders and master cylinder...all original. That car was impressive and extremely inexpensive to own!! My buddy's burned up two Civics and a Corolla While my Escort was running strong! Sadly, My friend(I donated the car to) reported the rear strut had rotted through this past winter and was not repairable. That car got me through 4 years of engineering college and so much more. I do believe that may have been the peak year in quality for the Escort GT.

Here is my overall: If your going to spend $21K+, get the Passat #1. or the Jetta #2 for a couple hundred more than the Accord if size is not a big issue.

If price is most important, go for the German designed Focus. Be sure to get the ZETEC w/5 spd and Alloys.

Good luck to You car shoppers and hope this was helpful.

Strength:

First of all, it's a honda. what can i say? i've had four honda accords and the only reason that i've had that many is because people like to run into me and total my car. luckily this one has lasted longer. hmmm, what do i like about it? i like the body style, not bad for an 85. decent acceleration for an automatic, hardly any major problems, rides nice, very good to me, and all the rest. i know i will never own another car unless it's a honda.

Weakness:

the cornering needs work but it's an 85. they rust way to easily but that's probably because i live in minnesota. rear window defrost component comes off of the rear window. has in the rest of my cars but i got this one in mint condition. hasn't given me problems. alternator always seems to crap out at some point. that's about it

i paid $4000 and it had 96,000 miles on it. some old guy owned it and supposedly cried when he sold it. i don't know about that but he definitely took care of it. didn't smoke so no burns or anything, fixed everything on it. if you could find one like i did, i'd definitely recommend it, but there's not that many of them with no rust and low miles. even though it's a honda and they go forever, it's always nice to get a car with lower miles. i'm always trying to tell my friends to buy a honda and the ones that do are happy. the ones that don't, well, i guess they'll never know the magic and comfort of one.

Strength:

This car has so many strengths it is hard to list, there is the awsome acceleration(*in some reviews I read people saying its not fast*) the exterior shaping, the front end shaping on the bumper, the comfort of the sunroof a/c, a/t, cd, cruise, and lumbar support. the safety of a driverside airbag, this car has "pimpibility" ... I put clear tail lenses on it and a Powered by honda racing sticker in the top of the wind sheild. i also put a calvin decal on the gas tank.

Weakness:

The transmition dose change gears ruff but it has a nice overal ride. aslo the rear seatbelts are hard to pull out when you are trying to put them on, they Lock while you are pulling. expecialy on hills.

This car is a dream, it is a deep burgendy red, with yellow stickers, I put a "half" bra on the front its the part that just slips on the hood. it looks so sporty, when I drive down the street I see people looking at me all the time, when some one wants to race at a stop light, I always win.
