good visability

Weakness:

engine management
Steering wheel doesn't tilt high enough,
paint
seating...no proper support
low seat height when getting in
Honda Canada.....there is nothing wrong with our cars, it must be in your head attitude.
Dealer service manager has to wait for Honda Canada service rep to okay any warranty claim.......see above
European Cars have a tighter feel, engineering like a Swiss Watch. the Honda is more like a Timex. It works, but doesn't excite you at all.

Not a bad car, wouldn't buy another though. Room is adequate for a family of 6 footers, but seating makes you stiff and sore after a couple of hours. The People at Honda Canada are either dumber than a bag of hammers or they think we are. Good gas mileage and performance for a 4 banger (V-Tech) when loaded down at highway speeds.

Engine hesitates or burps when switching from cold to hot engine management. Honda Canada claims they never heard of this problem. Go to a Honda newsgroup, there are many people out there with the same problem. You will feel it with a manual, but the auto tranny smooths this out so you probably don't notice it.

Poor quality paint, the tops sides show some type of oxidation under the clear coat, which eventually breaks the surface. My problem, not Honda's of course.

The clutch release bearing has started to whine/ chirp after only 42k's (kilometers)

Mechanics like using an impact gun on chrome wheel nuts, go figure.

Low-speed acceleration
Elbow room
Large trunk
Near full-width passthrough

Weakness:

Poor driving position
Squeaky sunroof
Mushy emergency handling
So-so sound system

2001 Accord Coupe EX, Silver
This is my fourth Honda, and the biggest and fastest. It beat out Saab, Acura and Subaru for my $$$. The Acura CL-S was faster, but felt heavier, used premium gas and had a tiny pass-through in the back seat--just large enough for skis. The Saab was pricier and riskier maintainence-wise. The Subaru was a great hauling vehicle, but didn't have the performance. The Honda was the winner on price, performance and comfort.

All that said, Honda really dropped the ball on three counts with this car. BE AWARE--only the 4-door has a power passenger seat. Ask your wife how she feels about that. ONLY the 4-door has adjustable shoulderbelt height. And the sunroof squeaks over rough roads (see NHTSA site for recall about that). Too, the sound system is not up to the quality of the rest of the car. My prior 1996 Civic EX sounded as good. However, any manufacturer in this price class who doesn't offer a 6 CD changer stock is a cheap so-and-so (listening BMW???).

I'm 5'7" with short legs and a long torso. The driver's seat is comfortable, but you will work for a long while to find a good driving position. This was never a problem with my other 3 Hondas--I just seemed to drop into them and found a good position almost at once. The back seats are very comfortable, but getting into them is as bad as getting into the back seats of a Prelude! The front legroom goes on forever, but the accelerator is too close to the driver. If you are short, the huge legroom on the passenger side actually makes getting in and out a little difficult.

The everyday handling is fine, but the emergency handling is mushy and not what I would expect from this car. It needs to be a little lower and lean a little less and the aftermarket will help me with that. The brakes don't have a lot of feel. They lack some initial bite. The next trip to the dealer should help with that (so they say). And the tires are nothing special but can be easily replaced (and will be!).

Like any car, a dealer can make a huge difference in your attitude towards your purchase. Honda of Lisle is a great dealer, and John in their Service department is their crowning glory!

Overall, I am really pleased with the car in its first 6 months. This one is a long-term keeper.

Strength:

Great engine. fast car. Incredible premium sound system. Great gas mileage. Great car for only 123k when bought. The car is quiet and has good acceleration. Tops around 110 mph for me but overall has good top speed. Great car to soup up too.

Weakness:

Shift knob is a little tight when moving out of park gear. Driver door handle frame borke and was replace though.Nothing else really

I have loved this car the day i bought. I will never buy another American made car again because they are CRAP, all of them. Nothing beats Japanese made autos. Can get from 0-60 in 11secs and rpms are high which sounds good and isnt hard on engine either.
