Strength:

The relibality and comfort. This car is great to drive. I will never buy anything other than Honda.

Weakness:

None, but when buying a Honda make sure it was made in Japan, the quality of the product seems to be much better.

I have had no problems with this car. I just recently put on over 200,000 miles. Just keep up on required maintence and dont mistreat it and you will be very happy with this product. I give it the highest rating possible.

AC is still freezing cold, although i have only sent it to be fixed i'd say 2 to 3 times. Sturdy. Very maneuverable. Powerful Engine. EXTREMELY WELL PERFORMED on Highways. conserves alot of Gasoline. IT WAS MY FAVORITE CAR TO GO ON TRIPS. Attractive Interior.

Weakness:

1989 Edition - Low Car, like a GO-KART. not much horsepower. THE SPEAKERS ON THIS CAR..ARE THE WORST I HAVE EVER SEEN.

I bought this car new, and i still have it!! With a whopping 145,000 miles this car still runs great. I can't believe it still runs great. Imagine the ingenuity of today. I can just imagine having a 2001 Honda Accord...it could again last me 11 years. Its hard to believe my 1989 Honda Accord is still like new. I swear this car really mind-blew me. My Accord, has never been hit, never been damaged, and if i wash it, it stays clean for a really long time. I mean this Honda Accords, are really something. If you like Honda, GET AN ACCORD, don't doubt it.

Strength:

Looks, luxury features, quality reputation, comfortable ride.

Weakness:

Needs a separate clock, bigger glove box

It has a great ride and plenty of power. This car definitely doesn't need a gas guzzling V8. I've owned four Honda Accords in a row and thought I'd try the Acura since I just retired. The navigation system is a thing to behold. It's simply amazing how it knows exactly where your auto is. I've used it several times and it has yet to make a mistake. The Honda is a great car and the Acura is just a step above.

Strength:

good gas mileage
good stereo
Starts awesome in the winter time

Weakness:

Problems starting when the weather is very hot.
Gear shift is quite hard in the winter, can not move it at times.
Too many little things that add up to big repairs

I have had nothing but trouble with this car from the minute I drove it home from Toronto to Winnipeg. Air Conditioning broke had to get it taken out. My exhust pipe was cracked in the middle, my cruise stopped working, antenna does not work. Timing belt needed to be relaced. Now I have some sort of electrical/computer problem the light for the back door goes on when I put my radio on, and the lighter doesn't work, or my intermittant wipers do not work either when the radio is on. Have no clue whats wrong with it. Now I have to get both Struts replace at the front of the car. All I can say Very Expensive to replace. All I can say it that I found a lemon of a car.

I suggest not buying an older Honda just becuase anything can go, at any time. Repairs are expensive especially if you have a limited budget.

runs great for 249,000 miles, good handling. not to loud on the interior. over all i would buy a later model if i had the money and a good deal

Weakness:

had an idling problem but i got it fixed. about to have to get new CV joints, a little noisy if i use low test gas. but other then that it runs very very strong for 249k miles. The A/C doesnt work. some idiot installed a after-market sunroof that leaks, the drivers side window leaks air when going down the highway, really no major problems because i got the idling problem fixed.

I like this car, its my frist car and I have had some fun with it. 249k miles bought it at 245k miles, i was crazy. It had some idling problems but they got fixed. Had to replace some fuses and work on the sony explode cd player. And a lot of lights went out: turning signals, brake lights, ect.

Strength:

The Vtec engine with the 5 speed standard is fantastic. Overall quality of fit and finish is very high. The car has a no nonsense approach to functionality. It does the job, does it well, and will do it longer than most anything else on the road.

Weakness:

The only complaint with this car is with creaking noise coming from around the sunroof.

I must admit, this is not my first Honda. I also have owned a '91 and '96 Accord. Surprisingly, the 1996 seemed like a bit of a step backward from the 1991.....a situation decidedly reversed with the 2000 model. My wife and I both commute a fairly long distance to work, so the miles add up quickly. The 2000 has close to 20,000 miles on it in just over 1 year of use. I can say it is easily the quietest, most solid of the three Honda's I have owned. The combination of a 5 speed manual transmission and the Vtec engine make for excellent performance while keeping the mpg around 35 on trips. Honda's racing background really shows in their drive trains; solid as a rock.
Interior space is adequate both front and rear, and the trunk has plenty of room, especially with the back seat down to accommodate long items. More cars should come with this feature. Handling is about average as compared to other cars in its class....would be better if there was a bit less body roll, but Honda seems to cater more towards conservative drivers who never push their cars and like a cushy ride. Funny, with their racing background I would think their suspensions would be a bit tighter, like BMW.
It's amazing that so many 5 speed models are sold with the merely adequate suspension. On the other hand, it's very hard to find a manual transmission Camry, and only then on the low end models. That and the $3,000. higher price for similar equipment pushed Camry out of the picture for me. All in all, this car is typically Honda. A well made, good handling, nice looking sedan that keeps up with the best of the crowd while not taking too much of your hard-earned cash in the process. Maybe it's not number one in flash or gadgets (Passat gets the professor gadget award), but it is certainly the best value in its class, and as durable as they come.

Similar Products Used:

I looked at the Camry - very good but limited availability of 5 speed transmission and significantly more expensive. Also looked at Passat - more gadgets than I need, turned off by the tiny 1.8liter engine plus turbo combination (needlessly complex, more expensive, and lower gas mileage). When configured like the Accord it was also about $3,000. more.

Strength:

Comfortable, very good handling in corners, a bit faster w/ the 5 spd, looks, easy to customize, Very nice to drive when going above 70 mph, eye catching chrome exhaust tips, stock speakers are pretty good-still took them out though

Weakness:

Rusts easily, bad in snow(better w/ 5spd) alloy wheels scratch easily, trunk leaks-design flaw on all 90-93 accords-causes more rust, expensive to fix

I bought this car last August with 50,000 mi on it which was very hard to pass up. It now has 63,500 mi. However, it has not been extremely dependable like my previous 90 EX, I have had to replace-
- Master and slave cylinders
- distributor cap and rotor-this was a recall on 92-96 accords but
if your car is above seven years old, you must pay, i found out
the hard way
- My gas tank has a hole in it and will have to be replaced
- I may need an alternator
From prior experience with 2 other accords and from reading these reviews, i know the A/C will go out in another year or two and the cv joints will break by about 100,000 mi. Since I am a 3rd year college student, fixing all these things will be a serious pain in the ass. I like Hondas but this will probably be my last one for a long time. For the most part, they are dependable, but not all cars are made the same, even if they are the same brand. Next time I will try Toyota or something else foreign.

87 Lxi- This car was much lighter and peppier but sunroof leaked and the engine would cut out when the temp was under 10 degrees- I eventually totalled the car-not my fault

1990 Accord EX- This was a very good car, however the auto had that familiar honda jerk. Was quite quick though. It was MUCH more dependable than my 93, I but 25K on it in 1 1/2 yrs and never had a mechanical problem. Rusted very easily also.

90 Corolla DX- Mom's old car, it has 218,000 miles on it and is the most dependable car I have ever driven. Its looks don't compare to the accord and its handling is not so good, though. Cheap to maintain and no unexpected breakdowns. Rust is extreme.

2000 Camry LE- Mom's current car. Accord handling is much sportier than camry's. Camry is much smoother and quieter than the Accord. both have 4 cyl engines, but camry is faster at lower speeds

2001 Solara SLE V6- brothers' car. Not fair to compare engines. Solara is VERY smooth and fast. Drives like a lexus. Steering still is not as sporty as accords, but is was not made to be.

2000 Dodge Intrepid ES- Dad's company car. Most American cars don't really compare. Sometimes I wonder if people read consumer reports, however this is a very nice car. Engines don't compare, this car is pretty fast, however the accord's interior is made with more quality and it is much quieter.

You can run the gears pretty high and squeeze some power out of that 2.0.

Excellent acoustics (While they last)

Lot's of room (Yeah, you know what i'm talkin about)

Decent Mileage

Weakness:

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM...You have to take the axle off to get the alternator out. (Whoever engineered that needs to be shot)

No cupholders. (Pain in donkey)

Front suspension can't take my driving. (No corners at 45)

Very weak valves after 194,000 miles.

Not a bad car overall. It rides smooth and it's comfortable inside. IT CANNOT TAKE A SYSTEM THOUGH!!! Since I've upgraded to a JBL 600 Mono and 2 Infinity Perfects, I've run through 4 alternators in 6 MONTHS!! That's why I'm selling it. I love my music.
