Strength:
reliability, manageability, fun to drive. No road noise. When I have been in others cars, I think a window must be open a crack because they are so noisy. My Honda was very quiet.
Weakness:
I imagine it must have some, but nothing occurs right now. I love, love my little Accord. I got her new and drove her into the ground. Early on I had to have a bell housing assembly replaced (cheap) and have had both cv joints replaced. It's stick shift, so when we had the first snow every year, and the Firebirds and Transams were in the ditches, my Honda just churned right past them on the way up the hills. I don't buy a car to make everyone stare at me, and don't race. I just wanted a good-looking car that wouldn't keep me off the road or in the shop all the time. I can't say enough about what a joy this dependable little car has meant to me. I'm getting ready to buy a 99 Accord now. Similar Products Used: mostly Chevy products. I never drove a car this long before. |

Good v-6 engine, nice stero system, and dood looking
Weakness:
TRANSMISSION AND PAINT, be ready to replace that transmission about 3X before 100k miles, damm not even American cars are not that bad! Like the towing trucker driver told me, iam a hypocrite American for buying Japan product, at first I no idea what he was talking about but now I know, "Japan gave me a F----- up car while they kept my money!" I read consumer report before I bought the car, but will I NEVER go by it again! True my accord was awesome, it had the sunroof leather the works! But Japan NEEDS to do something about that tranny! The damm 1980's Taurus's had better ones! At 21k miles my transmission went out, which almost cause me to have accident, then about two weeks later it was back at the dealer cause the Alternator went out! Now i have 26k miles and AGAIN the transmission is going out!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Next time when I but a car NEVER again will I buy a Honda, someone needs to burn this car! It spends more time in the shop than in my drive way! Similar Products Used: 1993 Ford Aerostar- Nothing compared to the Accord a different class, but I will say one thing comsumer report did not rate that van good, but when I sold it I had 246k miles with the orginal transmission,WITH OUT ONE PROBLEM!! but motor heads where replaced at 190k miles...I MISS THAT TRUE AMERICAN MADE VAN! |

Accord EX Coupe
Strength:
Vtec 4 cylinder engine in manual speed suprises BMW 3 series off the blocks. They think i have augmented the engine. Durable clutch for the hard drivers, pretty powerful engine for its class. Lifelong reliablility if treated well. Classy, even though a bit outdated interior.
Weakness:
Minor things. Leather cracks in direct sunlight easily, locks on doors begin to fail after 5th year, but hey its the 5th year, something has to wear down eventually. Engine blocks have minor oil leakage problems that were recalled. Doesn't handle corners that well with medium grade tires. This car is fantastic. Despite the low grade of the interior leather, and a few minor problems with locks which were easily fixed, this car will go to the GRAVE with you. If you treat these cars well they will take care of you TRUST ME. The paint jobs on these cars are excellent, I have had over a DOZEN minor "touches" with other cars over the last 5 years and on most occasions, the other cars paint is left on my bumper, which I just buff off!! The vtec engine in manual speed transmission is pretty quick. GET THIS: i have taken a few BMW 325's out of first gear off the block and left them CHOKING. No BS. The BMW's do catch up and over take at about 40 mph, but hey its an accord, not a problem. I catch so many bmw owners with that initial burst they think the car is suped up. Also, if you put some high grade tired on them , like michelins, the car hugs corners. The torque is not great, but hey, this is not supposed to be a high performance car, but it gets the job done for me. I would buy this car EVERY TIME. Similar Products Used: Looked at the Camry and came very close to buying it, although the power of the vtec in manual transmission was my deciding factor |

Strength:
I had this car for 103,000 miles over 10 years...it never broke down. That says it all to me.
Weakness:
The antenna sucks. Between 50k-60k your CV joints will go out...that is an accepted fact...you can drive with the clicking noise forever....or just pay $400 to have them both fixed....and be merrily on your way knowing that $400 every 60k miles is no big deal. The Accords are great cars. I had a 1979 4-dr accord that I ran until it actually caught fire (was kind of funny in hind sight). After that I got the 92 Accord which I planned to drive until it caught fire too...but an old fella ran into me and put that plan to bed. Thus I am car shopping...but couldn't help put in a plug for the car that served me so well. Similar Products Used: None |

Strength:
Power. Gas Mileage. Interior and trunk room. Everyone and their mom has an accord. can fit 4 golf bags in the trunk.
Weakness:
Where should I start? Fuel gauge sending unit had to be replaced FOUR times before the dealer got it right. B-Pillar clip doesn't stay in place although taken in for warranty repair. Transmission slips from 1st to 2nd gear. problem began with 50K miles. paint sucks. the slightest bird droppings will strip the clear coat. black paint also has a blue haze to it in the light. all four door panels near the windshield show discoloration from the sunlight. the grey panels have turned yellowish. V6 has ample power. Tranny sucks. Climate control system is excellent. Stock Michelin tires are too loud. Replaced with very quiet and smoother Yokohama AVS db's for half the price of the overpriced MXV4+ Michelins. Similar Products Used: 88 Prelude- tranny sucked. rebuilt twice |

Strength:
smooth ride, good gas milage, reliable,
Weakness:
hood opener flimsy, gas line from the nozzel to the gas tank corroded. The ex has more power. My wife and I bought our accord in 1996 with 100,000 miles on it. We traded it in for a suv. I knew about the honda reliability and that was the main treason why we bought one. Overall we had the radiator repaired, the a/c repaired, alterantor rebuilt. We can not complain even though we paid for the repairs we still think this is a great car. It had 200,000 miles on it when we finally traded her in but. I am considering on buying a mid size with some power. Either camry v6, maxima, altima, accord ex. If I can find a accord ex this will be my choice. Ya can't beat honda reliability. Similar Products Used: 93 subaru justy, 88 vw golf. The honda was better all around. |

EX V6 Coupe
Strength:
The coupe (with the options) is a sweet looking car. Sleek and stylish from front to back. The engine has great pick up (V6), smooth trans (auto), stereo system kicks..... with plenty of bass and volume, not only is the outside stylin, but the inside is sweet too. The auto climate control cools the cabin down/heats it up fast when needed.
Weakness:
The only weakness in the car is the rattleing sunroof when it is hot outside (but hey every car has it's squeeks and rattles). Other than that, no complaints here. I have the car a year and a half now, and never had to bring it into the shop except for the normal maitnence (oil changes & inspection). This car is sweet!!! I LOVE MY HONDA. Of course I had to add the fog lights, rear & underbody spoilers, and moonroof visor to make the outside look more sporty. Hey it's a Honda, a basic reliable safe car. So by adding these sporty options to it, not to many other Hondas on the road looking like mine. So just because it's a Honda, you don't have to feel you are blending in with the crowd. Similar Products Used: I traded in a Pontiac Grand Prix 98 GT coupe for my 2000 Honda Accord. That Prix was the worst. Within 3 months time of owning it, the problems started. The carpet fibers pulled leaving a nice hole in the rug, squeeky break pedal, shakey headlights, with water getting in both of them at different times, a popping sound from the front suspencion whenever it rained or was moisture in the air when going over bumbs in the road. The driver's side window wouldn't go down. That was it. I had that car for 1 1/2 years, and had it in the shop for repairs 4 times. I even wrote a leter to GM, and received no reply. So that's what they mean when they say "Driving Excitement" OK, so it wasn't anything major under the hood, but it was enough to make me get rid of it. My opinion, STAY AWAY FROM PONTIACS, THEY SUCK!!! |

Strength:
- Straight forward, nice lines, extremely ergonomic.
Weakness:
- May get rusty if not taken care of Lets face it... this car is not a 3 series Beamer or an Audi A4. So expecting it to perform like one, is an absurd assumption. When I take the price one would pay for the this car and I compare it against the performance, ergonomics and reliability it is able to deliver... I would rate it as the number one car in its class. I am not saying that because I need to justify my buying this car... rather all these reasons and more, made me buy this car. I have driven almost all the cars in its size category - Audi A4, BMW 325ci and 323i, Toyota Camry, Dodge Stratus, Mitsubishi Galant, etc. But believe me, this car makes me the happiest. Its nimble, light on the gas and steering, nice throaty engine (compares to a Beamer, but is more characteristically Honda). I am an architect and now a real estate management professional... and I can really appreciate how Honda over the years have committed themselves towards making motorsports engines (take the F-1 cars they make - BAR and Jordan Hondas now and Mclaren Hondas before... truely world class machines). To a certain extent, one can see the racing committments filter through into their road legal cars like the civic, accord, prelude and now the S2000. The design is at par with it time... way better than the 1995-97 Camrys... and the interior ergonomics are astoundingly well researched, for the price one would pay for this car.
