Honda Civic (2010 and older) Midsize | Compact

Honda Civic (2010 and older) Midsize | Compact

DESCRIPTION

The Civic is Honda’s compact car that is offered in sedan and coupe versions. First introduced as a small, inexpensive hatchback in 1972, the Civic has increased in size during its lifetime while continuing to offer excellent fuel economy. The entire Civic line was all-new for 2006.

The basic Civic is available as a sedan and coupe and comes in several trims: DX, DX-VP, LX-S, EX and EX-L. The Civic SI, the performance-oriented trim, offers 57 more horsepower than the base model, a few more performance options and a starting price of around $7,000 more than the base Civic.

The Civic also comes in two eco-friendly options: the Honda Civic Hybrid, which is reviewed separately, and the GX, a hybrid alternative that runs on Compressed Natural Gas. Unfortunately the GX is only sold in California (and other states that have accepted California's Zero-Emission Vehicle regulations). It costs about $10,000 more than a base Civic.

First of all, the mileage is AWESOME! I drive 85 miles a DAY and this baby has saved me a lot of cash! It's very dependable, large amount of space (both in the car and trunk), handles well in bad weather and has really cute accessories to add on!

Weakness:

Headlights don't automatically come on and there isn't a trunk release button on the key remote.

This car is the best! I have had all beaters in the past so I was sure to do some researching before I went shopping for a "brand new" car. I knew exactly what I wanted when I went into the dealer and the guys at Schaumburg Honda were very sweet- not too pushy. The car itself is great and I have no major complaints.

149,000 million miles. I live in NY and I drive hard, but I take care of my car. This car runs like when I bought it in 1990 13 years ago. The engine is phemomenal.

Weakness:

slight rust 1/2 inch diameter under left rear well.

108 hp SOHC 149,000 miles original owner bought car in 1991 maybe 8 minor crashes 2 major crashes all repaired. slightly modified suspension: eibach pro springs, KYB AGX shocks, suspension techniques front and rear anti roll bar, neuspeed front and back strut upper bars, neuspeed rear lower tie bar. engine mods: K&N filter (box), thermal research exhaust stainless steel I bought this car when I was 22. I'm now 35, never had the engine rebuilt, maybe 10 major scheduled tune-ups in all since I bought the car. All I've really done is change the oil and warm up the car each time I drive it. Bottomline: The damn thing still runs like new and I can't get rid of it. Just a little minor rust spot below the rear wheel well, otherwise people ask me if its a 2003 model. It looks brand new. I guess all those fender benders and the resulting paint jobs. Anyways, no one builds em like the Japanese. This thing was built with to the tolerances of a samurai sword. They last forever. Buy a Honda forget German.

Strength:

solid car, good milage.

Weakness:

SLOW,poor handing, many airbag problems, this car have been in for service a total of 46 days on three issues. Honda and the dealer put band aids on the problem. I will not buy another honda for a LONG TIME

I have been fighting with the dealer and honda themselves about crappy service and poor follow-up. Right Honda does very poor service in my experience.

I purchased this car June 2002. My car keeps stalling out.I have already put 1300.00 into repairing this vehicle and no one can find out why the car stalls. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Very disappointed with my selection.

Strength:

Gas Milage, Moonroof, CD player, ABS, Great Trunk space, good look, VTEC Engine.

Weakness:

Rattles a bit on roads though quieter at high speeds. Engine does make a lot of noise. Stock Tires are crap. You slide in the rain.

A reliable car that does have some good pick up. It has a good style, and is fun to drive. Ive driven a Cavalier and thought it was substandard horse crap. It is a little slow off the start but at higher speeds it really goes good. Great gas milage, and hasn't given me any problems so far in almost the 2 years Ive owned it.

Strength:

Very strong accelertation, not too many of the turbos on the road, great seats, nice body lines for an 89 (no one believes me that my cars an 89) Lots of Torque!!!! Great stock sound system, came with an equilizer and 6in sub under pass. seat(although that has all been changed)

Weakness:

Brakes are some what weak(Need to be upgraded) NO CUP HOLDERS!! Low redline at 6,000rpm(12valve SOHC engine)

This is my 1st car and i love it. i got the rarest 4WS(4 wheel steering) modle in which came with the turbo charged engine. not much power at lower rpms, but once you get to 3grand the car flys with loads of torque steer(190ftlbs stock)so far i have a T3/T4 turbo upgrade, with cold air intake, 2.5in turbo back exhaust with no cat and a Walbro 255 fuel pump. all that got my 210hp and 247ftlbs at only 13psi!! suspention mods are Intrax lowering springs and 17in rims on 205/40 tires.

Strength:

Great for city parking Fuel Economy

Weakness:

Terrible in snow, or even rain...slips all over the place and I loose control of the wheel. V4 engine takes a while to get from 0-60...engine makes a lot of noise, bad sound system

This car is boring. It's good for city driving/parking but overall, I would rather spend just a little more and get some perks.
