Honda Civic (2010 and older) Midsize | Compact

DESCRIPTION

The Civic is Honda’s compact car that is offered in sedan and coupe versions. First introduced as a small, inexpensive hatchback in 1972, the Civic has increased in size during its lifetime while continuing to offer excellent fuel economy. The entire Civic line was all-new for 2006.

The basic Civic is available as a sedan and coupe and comes in several trims: DX, DX-VP, LX-S, EX and EX-L. The Civic SI, the performance-oriented trim, offers 57 more horsepower than the base model, a few more performance options and a starting price of around $7,000 more than the base Civic.

The Civic also comes in two eco-friendly options: the Honda Civic Hybrid, which is reviewed separately, and the GX, a hybrid alternative that runs on Compressed Natural Gas. Unfortunately the GX is only sold in California (and other states that have accepted California's Zero-Emission Vehicle regulations). It costs about $10,000 more than a base Civic.

Strength:

Fuel economy, reliability.

Weakness:

Limited cargo space, no cruise control.

Bought this car new and it now has 426,000 miles (yes that is miles not kilometers). Still gets 40-45 mpg. Perform required maintenance and it will keep going.

this car feels like its going into 4wheel-drive drift when you take corners, usually on FWD it feels as though the car "pushes" its way straight, but this car handles like a charm! love the steering wheel, shift knob, tapping the gas a lil the rpm just jumps. affordable, gas mileage, appearance DEFINATELY GETS THE LOOKS you'll be proud to be an SI owner

Weakness:

need some kyb gas shocks, body roll sux. a lot of road confrontations "look lil boy...quit revvin on me with your puny EX, i know what my SI can do, dont make me show you"

overall this car is amazing. DOHC Vtec, probably the most craved for amongst the young ones nowadays and damn..at around 5500 RPM when the second wave hits, its a thrill ride, its a lil high so my next thought is to get a apex'i vtec controller, a must get for any DOHC vtec owner. I had a 96 civic ex 2dr before this car and taht was a nice ride as well, only it lacked the power. The seats in the SI are slim but snuggles u in, perhaps sparco's down the road will do. if you slap in 17inch rims with toyo proxe tires, make sure you get kyb gas shocks with those because body roll is a PAIN! thats my only complaint, it knocks everywhere. power, mmmm 160HP is not bad for someone who just wants to commute and have people stare at the electron blue paint, this car is a winner!

-Engine sounds great and pulls well at higher revs -Very nice design -SURPRISINGLY good sound system -Excellent fit and finish

Weakness:

-Rear drums??? cmon honda! -Weird noise coming from the dashboard (bugs me all the time) -Engine needs a good 30 hp boost -You have to pay extra for floor mats?

I really love this car and only recently passed 1500 miles. Beautiful blue paint job, sunroof, 15 inch alloys, pretty nice 6 speaker system. The fit and finish is really great (just what you expect from honda). At the beginning it seemed a bit slow but after the engine broke in, the 127 hp VTEC had abundant high end power. This car is very light and the engine is more than enough to get it moving fast. I wish it would have rear discs!!! Very nice design and the best civic by far.

Not as good on gas as other civics. I have observed about 31mpg at best and about 26 at worst. Most civics will get in excess of 40mpg.

I love this car. I test drove many other cars with much more horsepower but this little civic was the most fun. With the 160hp DOHC V-Tech and 7000 rpm red line there is plenty of power on hand. I get so many looks. I was not very crazy about the way the car looks but the first time I got to drive the car is was near orgasmic for a sub $20000 car.

Quiet interior...quick acceleration once the car reaches 60MPH...easy to use console...powerful AC/Heat...awesome stereo system...6 speakers...booming bass...seat height adjustment on the driver's side...steering wheel adjustable..remoteless entry...roomy truck with cargo net...cupholders...rear pockets...side pockets...cruise control with buttons on the steering wheel for easy adjustment...easy-to-use turning signal, lights, and windshield wipers...intermittent windshield wipers...GREAT handling...can turn on a dime...responsive braking...and parking in tight places is a breeze!

Weakness:

Interior space if you are a tall and/or large person...slower acceleration to 0-60MPH..but car compensates for this once you reach the 60 mph mark...noisy sunroof..windows provide QUITE a breeze when both are rolled down....car can feel like a convertible at times...

The Civic Coupe was the perfect car for me! I am a petite woman--5'3", 115 lbs.! Therefore, the car's size was not an issue for me; however, my male friends' heads barely clear the roof of the car. So, they have to let their seat back quite a bit to compensate. Other than this minor problem, the ride is great!

Weakness:

very slow on uphill grades cup holder is in front of the CD player(really stupid)

A very reliable car that handles well on the city streets and easy to drive in bad snow conditions. Good gas milage, quiet, just isn't super fast. Is very comfortable for road trips. Goes fast on the highway just slow on grades. Hardly any maintenance at 138,000 miles. Tires, basic stuff except clutch for driving it hard and fast on the city streets.

in 1997, Honda dramatically changed the appearance of the Prelude. At first I wasn't incredibly impressed; however, after awile seeing other cars come out similar in class, I began to respect the car more and more. Now that the look has aged 5 years I am still strikingly in love with everything about this car and I apprciate the Prelude more every day now that they are discontinued. This car comes very well equiped stock and is good for pretty well any age group or driving style. The Prelude is a very relaxed, smooth, laid-back car when driven slowly; but, when you really wanna go the extra power provided in the high rpm (above 5000) give the driver the thrill comparable to many other high end sports cars.

-Reliablity, i would have not gotten this car if it were not for that reason, hell i am at 170,000 k right now and it still purs like a kitten -get close to 25-30 MPG depending on how you drive it. -trunk is actually big enough to put a dead body or two in the back - at least the back seat folds down

Weakness:

-Hate the acceleration -No high end power -hard to get laid in one of these -turbo kit is a must, or u be eating stock Dodge Neons @$$( i hate those cars) -cheap plastic parts - your going to have to drop a better engine if u want to race -stupid euro sport theme now is killing the overall appeal of this car, no geo metro's have body kits -cup holder suks -tooo damn small

Hondas, Hondas, Hondas... Well that in mind i just wanted to say that i was never a honda fan in the fist place, i have driven and owned a variety and plethera of othe cars, mostley GM but never intended to buy a Honda... Well the day came when i totaled my Cop car Chevy Lumina into a brand new civic that i had to buy a new car... My girlfriend persauded me and of couse having no choice due to having no money, i got one...Now don't get me wrong, I hate nad i mean i hate Honda's but if u want reliability and great gas millage, this is the king of cars... If u want performance, funn, handling... well you going to have to pay extra in after market to do that. And trust me, i tried the performance parts on this car and still it's no thrill, well it's definalty not fun having every car on the road wanting to race you to the next light.
