Honda Civic (2010 and older) Midsize | Compact

DESCRIPTION

The Civic is Honda’s compact car that is offered in sedan and coupe versions. First introduced as a small, inexpensive hatchback in 1972, the Civic has increased in size during its lifetime while continuing to offer excellent fuel economy. The entire Civic line was all-new for 2006.

The basic Civic is available as a sedan and coupe and comes in several trims: DX, DX-VP, LX-S, EX and EX-L. The Civic SI, the performance-oriented trim, offers 57 more horsepower than the base model, a few more performance options and a starting price of around $7,000 more than the base Civic.

The Civic also comes in two eco-friendly options: the Honda Civic Hybrid, which is reviewed separately, and the GX, a hybrid alternative that runs on Compressed Natural Gas. Unfortunately the GX is only sold in California (and other states that have accepted California's Zero-Emission Vehicle regulations). It costs about $10,000 more than a base Civic.

Well I got to say that I am a Honda person. Or so I thought I was. I have owned 5 Hondas thus far and this was my first new car. Guess what, I bought a HONDA! I have really tried to like this car, but everytime I turn around something is not right with the car. I really don't want to complain about it, but I have to say that I am not impressed. I really wanted to write a review raving about this car, but I can't, and it annoys me!

Great recaro style seats , shifter location is ideal , great leather wheel. Fit and finish much better than the 2001 Civic lx coupe i had. engine is wonderful .

Weakness:

195/60/15 michelin rubber and oem alloys dont quite cut it . were off and upgraded the day i picked up the car.

Great machine . Best of the Civic line-up and the best performer. Excellent fit and finish , perfest ergonomics . K20a3 2.0 ltr i-vtec engine is fantastic . Better use of engine power and more torque .Unique design that draws numerous positive comments and thumbs up . Great long distance traveller and even more fun in the twisties.

Strength:

Nice looking car, great drive.

Weakness:

1. Transmission: poped out of gear in second, so I had my tranny pulled out and parts replaced. Apparently the housing did not have enough clearance. 2. Annoying rattle in the back which the dealer said was the seatbelt. Uh huh 3. Paint peeled off the front bumper. Apparently normal for one year old car. 4. Struts replaced-defective 5. cowl moulding replaced 6. rubber window seal replaced twice 7. trunk release replaced twice Yes so much for Honda quality.

Although I researched the civic before i bought it, its clear that my 2001 model is a monday/friday car. In short the problems keep showing up with no sight in end, and to make matters worst seems like each time I get something fixed at the dealer something else is broken by them.

Strength:

After market parts. Reliability. Resale value.

Weakness:

Small stock tires. No torque.

This car is great. There are to many after market parts to even count. After adding a Jacksons Racing Supercharger and a high flow exhaust, the car runs to 60mph in 4.1 and the 1/4 in 12.9. I've recorded a top speed of 153mph (redline limited) at Shannonville Speedpark.

Strength:

Vtec, don't try to explain it to your girlfriend, it won't happen. But seriously, there are dogs out there that are'nt as dependable as this car. I'm pretty lucky mine only has 30k miles, basically it's not even broken in. It's the poor man's bimmer (3 series that is), but with much lower repair bills. Mines certified so I don't have to worry about that. Remember, Certified includes roadside assistance for the term of the loan, for me thats 4 years. They don't really sell that point but it's nice knowing it's there for as long as I own it.

Weakness:

Did I say it was fast, cause it ain't!(exception being 3rd gear Vtec pulls hard from 60-100) Yes, everyone in a Civic under age 21 wants to race you. Vtec uses alot, I say alot of gas.

It looks fast and actually has very nice lines unlike the newer coupes. This car might have more aftermarket modifications available than any other sport compact. It's a Honda for pete's sake. Also, I hate to say it 2001+ Civic owners, but we ownz joo! I just had to say that.... =P

Strength:

fun to drive all around basic goodness reliable

Weakness:

expensive to repair doesn't tolerate gross abuse as well as big heavy tank-cars little fiddly bits break (foam rubber in seat splits; plastic clip for seatback release breaks; plastic holddown clip for heater cable breaks; etc.) engine is louder in cabin than other cars, if that bothers you. not the greatest in snow without some mods abs big disappointment Transmission and clutch died young despite being babied gently

Good car, if you don't have to carry big things. Fun to drive, nimble, ex (sohc vtec) 127 hp engine pretty good except from standing start. Basic car good enough to benefit from bigger engine, like 160 hp DOHC vtec. First winter was very snowy, with stock tires car would get stuck every couple of blocks. Now has snow tires and limited slip differential, and is unstoppable. Part of the reason I bought the car was the ABS, but on the one hand the ABS prevents me from braking many times on ice, but I know there is traction there because I slow down using the transmission and engine braking; on the other hand, ABS does not allow me to turn/steer etc. on ice, car just plows along in straight line no matter what(which is better than spinning, I must admit). Of course, this forces me to drive carefully and sanely when it's slippery, which is a good thing. Mostly rust free except the rear wheel wells, the Honda curse. AC smells funny sometimes, the other Honda curse.

Gas Mileage. Blower Motor. Paint Job.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS CAR AND AMERICAN HONDA!!! This car has been in the shop 8 times in as many months. Replaced the blower motor 2 weeks after lease. Has had the bumper repainted because of peeling paint twice to date. Gas mileage is exaggerated, you can't even hit the bottom numbers on a good day. American Honda will do NOTHING to help you.

Here is everything fixed on my Civic after one year: Seat: Fell off morings while driving!! Front Springs: Rubbed tires Airbag light (SRS) came on while driving, meaning they did not work Side Airbags did not work No Consol for CD's, etc. Emblem fell off twice Scratches easily

Honda, Honda, Honda. Why did you change the Civic. It sucks now. I had a 1999 Civic SI, and loved it. I totaled it in an accident, and wanted a new Civic. Only SI you make now is in a hatch. No more DOHC Sedan. Now more Front Independent Suspension. I have had so many problems with this car. With Only 18,000 miles on it, it is a peice of Junk.....Just traded it in for a Protege 5!!

Strength:

The gas milage on this thing is great. Sometimes I can run on empty for over 100 miles and still have gas to make it to the gas pump. I also like the pick up on my model. I have a manual transmisinon and I can switch gears very good and I have raced many cars on the streat and beat them. my car is all standard and it has good pick up imagine if I put some custom things into it wich I plan On doing so watch out.

Weakness:

I don't like the fact that there is no Rpm meter on this model. I like to know what my RPM's are so that I know exactly when to switch gears. I also have had to fix th cv joints one time already and I fear that I might have to do it again.

I got this car as a graduation gift. I Was hoping to get a reliable car for a good price. This car was the best choice.
