So far reliable and expects this to be for a long time. Roomy interior, Lx comes nicely fully equipped. The car is nice looking and good fuel economy. Anchor bolts for baby/child seat already installed and easy access from the rear seat. Nu "bump" on the floor in frnt of the rear seats.
Weakness:
Made in U.S and Canada, will the product be as good and reliable in the long run? Fair tires. Noisy engine on highway. Interior is a little plain vanilla. My wife and I needed a second vehicle and having owned two Civic before, I knew the product was reliable and kept a high value. We purchased the Civic Lx. We have driven the vehicle for about 2 months now and reached over 6000km. The engine is quite noisy on the highway. The seats are confortable but not tested yet for a long drive. I feel the steering is too soft and does not have the sporty feeling that I had with my previous 92 Civic. The trunk is huge and the look of the Civic 2001 is definitely eye catching. So far, I would certainly recommend the vehicle. I tried other vehicles in the same category and feel the Honda Civic has the best 5 speed transmision which suits the 1.7L engine. Similar Products Used: Owned a 1989, 1992 Honda Civic which were very reliable, easy on gas and fun to drive. Also owned a Honda Prelude 1984. /Civic LX
Strength:
Great outward visibility - gives the cabin an open airy feeling. Good interior room for such a small car. Very good gas mileage - usually ranges from 33-43 mpg. Good ergonomics - dash/stalk controls operate with a precision not seen in cars costing far more.
Weakness:
Annoying clutch squeaking noise and binding - dealer says is normal. No way! Interior rattles irritating. Fuel gauge erratic. Numerous paint chips on front of hood and fenders due to sharply angled front end. Many tiny windshield nicks also. Cannot imagine what front of car will look like in a few years! Buzzing noise eminates from steering column if key is not turned fast enough - service manager says it is normal. Standard cassette unit very weak performer - cheap. I have driven 26,000 miles with my 2001 Civic LX so far. I have owned 4 Honda vehicles in the past 17 yrs. Although this is my first one I have owned in the past 11 yrs. This Civic is a totally new design. There are some improvements over older Civics such as coil on plug ignition system and a slightly larger 1.7 engine with better low end torque available on the LX model. It does not require the same amount of revving as compared to the older LX Civics. With the 5 speed it is performs adequately. However the quality of this particular Civic is a dissapointment. Maybe the 2002''s will be improved - could not recommend this 2001. Similar Products Used: Owned a 1988 Ford Escort which was very unrefined but very inexpensive.A 1996 Ford Contour with 2.0 4 cylinder - rough idling - owned for only 7 months. Strength:
Reliability, great on gas, resale.
Weakness:
Road noise, cheapness, noisy and trashy sounding motor, underpowered. After having lived with one for 4 years, I can honestly say that out of all of the cars that I have owned, this car has the least personality. The engine is always strained - you have to rev the bejeevers out of it to go anywhere. There is also alot of road noise. There isn''t alot of headroom, especially for back seat occupants. The car does have strengths - good on gas, it doesn''t break, and resale is phenom. That is good, because this sucker is going up on the market - just test drove a 2002 Altima. That will be in my driveway real soon.... Similar Products Used: Accord, Camry, Altima, Jaguar S-Type |

Strength:
Everything for the price
Weakness:
None Bought this car new for its quality, and that is exactly what I got. The car has 20700kms on it and it runs perfect. The only thing that i''ve had to change is the radiator. I changed brakes and such but that is expected on every car. Just an amazing car. Acceleration is good and so is the handling. Similar Products Used: None |

Civic 4-DR DX
Strength:
Build quality and legendary Honda engine durability and reliablity. Economical and fairly easy to maintain. Great resale value if you need to change.
Weakness:
Only average acceleration unless you wind up the RPM''s. Touch of road noise. Great car for the money. I''ve hade no problems at all(60,000+k miles). If you want reliable, economical and durable transportation with a great resale value, the Civic is for you. If you understand the concept of value you will appreciate the Civic. You can get a fancier car for more moeny or a cheaper car in it''s class for less but dollar for dollar you wont touch the Civic for overall value. Not much flare but full of quality engineering and assembly. Similar Products Used: Neon, Topaz and Cavalier(the latter which sells on looks alone). |

cup holders should be called cup topplers, i had a problem with the accelerator and took it into the shop that they couldn't explain or fix this car handles like a dream for how few ponies it has under the hood. this is definitely the car for me, although now that i bought this car i don't have anything to work on so i might end up doing modifications just to be able to work on my car again. The possibilities are endless. It's the new VW bug(no not that piece of crap from VW but the new economical vehicle that will last forever). Similar Products Used: test drove saturn s2, VW Golf |

Strength:
- Good power and exceleration
Weakness:
- Price I went looking for a car that would be reliable, good gas mileage, looks nice, roomy yet small, has decent power for a car with a small engine. I found a civic. At first I didn't want one. Then I drove it and figured this is what I want. I'm glad that I bought a civic. I just think I could have found a way better deal. I bought my car (96 Honda Civic EX with 67000 miles) for 11600. It is a great car. I've had no problems with her so far (knock on wood). I get about 35 mpg. She redlines at about 7.5rpm so I get good exceleration. I would buy another, but I'd look harder for a better deal. I don't think I'll need to buy one for quite some time though. Similar Products Used: Mazda Protege - Civic has more power, looks sportier, handles better. Protege is roomier. |

RELIABILITY! You can't beat the dependability of a Honda. Hands down.
Weakness:
Not a good car for tall people. I'm 5'10" and often I feel TRAPPED in this car. I wish I had purchased an automatic, though, because commuting in Los Angeles with a 5-speed is a TERRIBLE idea. Also, if you have a family to transport, I don't think this car is a good bet. The backseat of the car is really small and tall people can easily hit their head on the back window. For one person, it's fine though. The Honda audio systems also are not that great. I purchased a car stereo after buying this car because the one in the Civic is terrible. The speakers are bad too. Very muffled and not well placed. High freeway noise sometimes. I purchased this car used and couldn't be happier that I went with a Civic. I have had it for about 2 years and other than maintenance, (oil changes, tune-ups) I have had ZERO problems with it. ZERO. I had originally purchased an extended warranty and wish now that I hadn't. I didn't need it at all! It's extremely dependable and great on gas mileage. Similar Products Used: Hands down, a Honda is a great purchase. |

Civic DX 5-speed manual
Strength:
She has great pickup, the gas mileage is a dream, very spacious for a 2-door coupe, love the way she looks (sexy)and handles.
Weakness:
Additional options are expensive if one doesn't buy them with the car to begin with. Getting the car into to reverse sometimes takes to much of an effort. I haven't driven my Honda very much yet, but so far I know that this is the best car for me. Reliabilaty is very important and that's what this car is, reliable. This car is wonderful because it can be used by a family concerned with just town driving, or a college student like me who makes cross country treks. Similar Products Used: My first car was an '86 Toyota Camry. That was a very good car, but it was just worn out. I feel that the Honda will be just as good in 12 or 13 years since I'll be the primery owner. My second car was a '93 Chevy Cavalier. I babied that car but it gave me nothing but two blown transmissions, constant brake problems, and 4 or 5 thousand $ other problems. Although I'm missing out on many power options (all power options), I wouldn't trade in my new baby for anything. RELIABILITY!!! |
