Honda Civic (2010 and older) Midsize | Compact

Honda Civic (2010 and older) Midsize | Compact

DESCRIPTION

The Civic is Honda’s compact car that is offered in sedan and coupe versions. First introduced as a small, inexpensive hatchback in 1972, the Civic has increased in size during its lifetime while continuing to offer excellent fuel economy. The entire Civic line was all-new for 2006.

The basic Civic is available as a sedan and coupe and comes in several trims: DX, DX-VP, LX-S, EX and EX-L. The Civic SI, the performance-oriented trim, offers 57 more horsepower than the base model, a few more performance options and a starting price of around $7,000 more than the base Civic.

The Civic also comes in two eco-friendly options: the Honda Civic Hybrid, which is reviewed separately, and the GX, a hybrid alternative that runs on Compressed Natural Gas. Unfortunately the GX is only sold in California (and other states that have accepted California's Zero-Emission Vehicle regulations). It costs about $10,000 more than a base Civic.

I have over 100.000 miles on it. I've only had to do normal Maintenence. I have not had any problems withit yet. It is fun to drive. Everything is original except Tires ,Muffler and timing belt. I only replaced the timing belt as perventative maintenance.

Weakness:

No warning buzzer on leaving headlights on.

This is my 5th Honda. I like to drive and not have to run to the dealer 100 times the 1st year of ownership. I haven"t done that since I owned my last American Car. It's a fun car to drive, It holds it's resale value, and it keeps going and going and going.

Strength:

The car has great pick-up. even though it has only 107hp. It flies! You can park virtualy anywere and you get good fuel economy. Handles like a race car. It's great.

Weakness:

the only bad thing is that the car is a little small for my 6'6" frame. The power outlet is not useful when the car is off. This is bad for the cellphone charger. Brcause when your at work you can't charge your phone.
if the hp was a bit more it would be a sleeper no problem.

This is a very good car for students. It's cheep to maintain and good on gas. It may not be a mustang but with it priced so low, you can modifie it and turn it into a sleeper no problem. with it being so light, the cars only down fall is it has little hp.
The sad thing is, 2000 was the last year they were to make this modle.(do i smell colectors item?). this vehical is so pritty and if you have the time and money you can make it into the "millenium muscle car". As it's predecesor the cr-x, this car is great for the young kids and if need be not to bad as a family car. i would recommend that if you buy it as a family car that you look more at the sedan because this back seat was ment more for **!, then kids.
PS i paid $19,700 canadian funds
incase you thought i was scamed.

Strength:

This car looks sharp and is extremely good on gas. It is easy to handle and parking is no problem as it is a fairly small car. It has a fairly roomy back seat for the size of the car. I havn't had any problems what so everwith the car as of yet. It also runs very quietly and breaking is good.

Weakness:

I was hopeing that this car would be a little quicker. It is extremely slow and lacks the pick up and spunk I wanted. The stock stereo system in this car absolutly sucks. The power output or cigerette lighter only works with the car turned on. Small ashtray and very uncomfortable seats also suck. I also hit my head ofen times when getting in this car. It handles crappy in the snow and gets stuck very easily. I have had to call a toe truck 4 times already. This car lacks the power I was hopeing for. I am a stupid fool for buying it. My name is Mauro CAvazzon and I want a rice rocket instead.

I would recomend that you buy this car if you want something fun to drive but you don't car about power or speed. It is a pretty good car I guess, for cheap people as it is very fues efficinnt. For someone who likes to race, like I do, I would not recomend this car to. Thank you for reading this review, my name is Mauro Cavazzon.

Model Reviewed: Honda Civic CX hatchback

Strength:

Gas Mileage, aftermarket support. Even for the CX, which has only 70 stock horsepower, I have got it up around 100 and can take any stock civic in a race, besides the 2000 Si

Weakness:

Gear ratio, weak interior, no tachometer. The gears make it hard to get up the slightest of hills.

I would recommend this car to anyone who hadn't owned a Honda before, but I think its worth it to put out the extra cash and buy an ex/si before purchasing a cx/dx. I have had to customize my civic from the inside out, with custom 2000 Si seats and a complete Pioneer stereo system, to an intake and full exhaust (including header), i have even had to relocate the catalytic converter. But car is good and definately reliable, I am so happy I bought it. I laugh at all my friends with their muscle cars when they pay $40+ to fill up, it costs me only $12.00!

Strength:

The car of the bat had great acceleration for the size of the car. I guess the up from 1.6 to 1.7 liters does make a difference. Car has a very spacious interior and nice sport feel to it. The Automatic Shifter adds to the sportiness feel you get when driving. I personally find it a fun ride. Love the paint job also, Nighthawk Black Pearl *in direct sunlight it has a blueish tint*, dark smoke gray interior. Ofcourse, being a civic, it has great gas mileage.

Weakness:

The back headlights make it look like a Ford Focus, which in my opinion is a very very ugly car. I was kinda pissed off at the fact i have to pay more for a cdplayer, when i got a cassette player instead... I was wondering why they couldn't just take out the cassette player and put in a cd player instead... Comparing the hood room to the 96-00 model civic, the hood room seems to be alot smaller, and looking at the engine, that's the most plastic i've ever seen for an air intake. Any future engine modifications or engine swaps could be restricted to the smount of hood room you have.

I recommend this car to those who are interested in a "get-me-around" car. As for the racers, the EX would be the better choice, but for the budget racers, the LX will due, but that lack of products and modifications for this year model is still limited, so you will have to wait a lil while before you can do any major modifications.

Strength:

Reliability! Also apparent longevitity, engine, transmission, looks, comfort, ease of maintenance.

Weakness:

A little slow out of the box, and uphill. But once it gets going, watch out.

I bought my Honda in 1997 used with 25,000 miles on it. Now less than 3 years later, it has 119,000 and still humming like it did when I bought it. (I credit the previous owners of taking immaculate care of this car). Needless to say, I drive this car a LOT. Between my job in sales, and driving for pleasure, this car has been there with very little trouble. I also love how easy it is to maintain. I do routine maintenance myself (oil changes, minor tune ups) and almost find it a pleasure. I have no doubts that this car will, with proper care and maintenance, be running well into the 200K mile range, and hopefully a lot further. I want this to be my last car for a long while.

This is a great economy car with extremely amazing handling. You can tweek a honda from 106h.p. to over 300h.p., you can not do anything like this to any other car.

Weakness:

Honda should install more powerfull engines in their civic base models.

I paid $18'000.00 can. for my civic coupe special edition...what a bargain for the quality of this great machine. I would recomend a civic to anyone who likes to drive.

Easily tunable for more speed, large interior, enough accessories out there to separate you from the Civic crowd, DEAD RELIABLE, Good resale.

Weakness:

I have the hatch so drum rear brakes, parts are expensive, but they never break down so it equals out

I love my Civic. If you are looking for a quick car and have some cash to spend this is the best way. I put in a Acura Integra GSR engine...woooo eyy it flys. I have beatin Type-R swith it. The car is a blast. Very good value. I had a tough time convincing my grand parents to get it for me. Theysaid parts were to much, but in the end if you buy a Ford you will spend more oin parts because they break down so much.

HEAD RESTS......very dangerous.......no support

i paid $10,000 for my car....when i saw the CIVIC someone had a binder down on the car the next day i came w/a check and the car was mine from that day i have become a HONDA FANATIC.

Any-who i got into an accident w/ the civic and i have to say that the head rests were very bad. on impact my head hit the headrest so hard that i totally mangled it.......it was bent back and sideways......the plastic covering ended up cutting the back of my head wide open and i had to get around 25 stiches.....
i must say though that i think if i was in any other car my friend or myself would have been hurt a lot worse

i have to mention that HONDA is one of the only cars that have their air bags come out on any type of collision......most american made cars only have the air-bag come out on frontal and rear collision....that sucks if your car flips or something...

i think everyone should drive a HONDA
