Honda Civic (2010 and older) Midsize | Compact

Honda Civic (2010 and older) Midsize | Compact

DESCRIPTION

The Civic is Honda’s compact car that is offered in sedan and coupe versions. First introduced as a small, inexpensive hatchback in 1972, the Civic has increased in size during its lifetime while continuing to offer excellent fuel economy. The entire Civic line was all-new for 2006.

The basic Civic is available as a sedan and coupe and comes in several trims: DX, DX-VP, LX-S, EX and EX-L. The Civic SI, the performance-oriented trim, offers 57 more horsepower than the base model, a few more performance options and a starting price of around $7,000 more than the base Civic.

The Civic also comes in two eco-friendly options: the Honda Civic Hybrid, which is reviewed separately, and the GX, a hybrid alternative that runs on Compressed Natural Gas. Unfortunately the GX is only sold in California (and other states that have accepted California's Zero-Emission Vehicle regulations). It costs about $10,000 more than a base Civic.

Strength:

GAS MILEAGE!!! To the beach on less than half a tank of gas!! (4 hour trip with your foot to the floor). Sporty, get up and go. Not spending half its life in the shop.

Weakness:

Back seat room. There is none ( so my passengers tell be.) Buttons and knobs pop off easy.

I bought this car with 40,000 miles and just traded it with 94,000 miles for another Honda (CRV)..HONDA LOYALIST HERE.....I maybe put <$500 in this car. I changed the timing belt at 80,000 cause I heard that this is s wise thing to do before it breaks with Hondas($275), UV boots ($100), and back breaks ($60). Thats it!!! Never broke down on me. Hardly had ANY problem with this car. Has a lot of get up and go to it with a sporty look. Gas mileage was wonderfullllllll!!!! The only things that I didnt like about this car was the back seat, or should I say, my passengers didn't like it...since I never rode in the back. They complained that their heads hit the back windows and knees hit the front seat. I had the 2 dr coupe. Only good back seat for people under 4 feet tall. The buttons for heater and horn seemed to pop off a lot. It was not that big of a deal unless you couldnt find them to pop back on. Would recommens to ANYONE to buy this car if they are looking at them. I almost cried when I traded but I needed more room than it could offer and I wanted the 4x4 (live in the mountains). EXCELLENT CAR TO OWN!!

Strength:

Very comfortable, great gas mileage (35 HW, 30 CITY). Great looking, very easy to maneuver in city traffic.

Weakness:

During acceleration the wheels turn. Acceleration is too touchy. Decceleration is different, slows way down like the brakes are being applied.

Overall, this is a good car. It has great fuel efficiency and if very easy to maneuver. It is very comfortable and very roomy inside. The stock stereo was replaced because it lacks quality. I bought it with 55000 miles on it and no problems so far, except for the wheels turning to the right when I accelerate. (Maybe the tires need replaced) This is a good car and I would recommend it

Strength:

2001 model year produces a nice lookin coupe with styling that drifts away from the sedan . Excellent 1.7 litre 16 valve with typical Honda smooth 5 speed gearbox . Coupe LX comes nicely outfitted with lots of standard features . Very glad to be back drivin a Honda again .

Weakness:

Coupe Lx comes dressed in steel wheels and hubcaps - but 1500 Canadian can address this problem and besides after market wheels are most often a little less money and nicer lookin than Honda oem alloys .

An excellent piece of machinery . Clean body lines , nicely laid out interior . AM/FM CD Player with 6 Speakers works very good for factory issue . Engine is a dream , nice power - not huge - but nice ! Transmission ( i 5 speed ) works so smoothly - very precise . Handling and quick manouevers are never to scary to accomplish . Another fine Honda example . Fit and finish is excellent . Rear spoiler really adds something to the coupe, nice height anf integration to rear flanks . Fuel economy is very good 35- 40 mpg . A very fine compact coupe .

good peep, nice headlights, cool rear

its a lil different from the 35 older civics i see everyday. flat floor in the back and good gas mileage. above 4000rpm, engine is a monster is unleased. scares me everytime, going from buzzy to vrrrrooom is something. i look around to make sure its me. the engine holds speed well and cruise control works fine on hills. the engine bay is easy to negoitiate---lots of room for future mods.

Weakness:

NOT AS CHEAP TO OWN AS PEOPLE CLAIM----the service costs an arm and a leg. $300 bucks for a 9K service? service plans A,B,and C?!?! man, i could open my own jiffy-lube using the money i'm paying these chumps to maintain my car.

very loud...below 4000rpm, engine sounds like it runs on electricity rather than gas (verry buzzy). cruise control is on my knee, hates that. car cuts off when i stop at stop signs. sometimes the emergency brake vibrates like that chair does in the movie contact. the damn trunk weighs 2 ounces, and if somebody walks by the draft will cause it to bang you on the head. mudd flap fell off and the missing bolt caused 10 dollars?!?!??! dealer treats me like a child who has left the nest. when i come back for help they say something along the lines of--you're own your own now son. oh yea, everybody and their momma has one.

its ok i guess...i mean it has four wheels and goes. i hate that everyone wants to race me. i wish i would have gotten a more unique car. i wish the car didn't idle funky sometimes. i wish that the BLINKING WINDOWS WOULDN'T STAY FOGGED UP!!! overall it still works.

Strength:

Very cute look. I like it better than the 2001 civic sedans. Very roomy trunk, great on gas, like the set up of the front controls, like the adjustable seat belt straps, like that you can lock the trunk when valeting your car.

Weakness:

Not a whole lot of power especially when the AC is on. The lighting is horrible in the car. There should be lights by the rear view mirror. Instead there is only a tiny light in the center of the car that does absolutly nothing. Also the visors should have lights in them. The radio should at least come w/ a tape deck. And the ruber piping around my back windows keeps bulging. I have no idea why. I am continuosly pushing them in.

I love my civic. I kind of feel I am paying a little too much per month for the car (given what the options the car has)but that's w/ any car today. It is stylish and affordable and definately not a gas guzzeler. I would buy it again but I don't like having the same car for a long time. I want to try out other cars. I would consider getting the new civic coupe. The Honda is a great, reliable car. Half of my paycheck goes to my car but I don't mind. I don't regret my desicion of leasing it.

Strength:

The styling, finally got away from the 1995-2000 body. Great innovation, roomy, especially in the cabin, better trunk space (3 aluminum eclipse subs, 2 earthquake amps), tailights, better functionabliity, great looks. Oh yeah the flat rear floor, better for the middle person!

Weakness:

More HP. Honda should have stuck to the Double Wishbone up front. But we all are going to replace stock anyways. Besides the suspension, the Civic is awesome.

Overall, the only complaint I have is the switch to MacPherson struts in the front. Great MPG, freeway and city. I think the Civic will continue to stand out, with body kits, wheels, and other performance and audio upgrades.

Strength:

Assembly quality is excellent. Car is very economical to operate and extremely reliable.

Weakness:

Could use more horsepower and Honda should make it a little easier to reach things like the oil filter and the coolant drain on the block. A stainless exhaust would also be nice. Adjustable front seatbelt anchors would be nice also. They offer them in the 4 door, but not the coupe.

I have owned this car for 5 years and have nothing but good things to say about it. Mechanically it has been terrific. The only parts changed have been the front brake pads. The car averages 30 mpg in every day driving and 36 mpg on the highway.

Compared to my 94 Civic the 96 automatic transmission shifts muh smoother. The car is also quite a bit quieter.
