Strength:
Extremely reliable, nothing else matches. Considering the fact that Honda's are known for their reliability and built their reputation soley on this fact, the looks are a bonus. Excellent gas mileage. These cars take a beating and still purr like a kitten! More room in the back seat than I would have ever expected, still, it's a bit inconvenient to put my 3 year old into her car seat! The 5 speed has excellent get up and go, especially when they are broken in correctly.
Weakness:
The power windows are extremely slow and sound like the motor is about to blow up when the weather is cold or there is dew on the windows. The seats are the worst and most uncomfortable of any car I have ever driven on long hauls (I'm talking more than a 3 hour trip) By the time I get out of the car my legs are numb and my behind feels as if someone stabbed me! I had this problem with the other two Hondas I have owned and I've heard that all of the Civic's are like this...even the new ones, it's obviously a Honda trait. One of the main weaknesses I have encountered has got to be the crappy service I get everytime I go to the dealership for service on my car. The stock windshield wipers are the crappiest wipers that could ever be put on a car...but it cost me $20 to replace them, so I don't really think I should be griping about something so meaningless. I will never buy anything but a Honda vehicle again...and that includes Acura! Maybe one of these days I will be able to afford one of those! They are the most reliable cars on the market and that's most important for me being a mother. I know that my car will not die on the side of the road and that's more comfort than anyone could imagine! Similar Products Used: 85 Honda Prelude....just as reliable. The Civic is of course not as nice looking (for it's day!) as my Prelude, but it had all of the same strengths and weaknesses. |

Strength:
Runs very fast, has good gas mileage, and has a very clean and big inside.
Weakness:
I need to replace the windshield wipers every year! The Car is good because it is a honda and honda is the only one with v-tec besides acura but honda owns acura! Similar Products Used: 1994 Honda Accord LX was much slower and had not as good control. |

Honda Civic Wagon
Strength:
This car runs like it is brand new still, and it has shown very little signs of aging, 170,000 miles later and I drive it 70 miles a day, without a problem. Gets great gas mileage, and looks good and serves its purpose well.
Weakness:
CV joints--regular maintenance for this car, and the gray paint tends to chip easily I have actually been driving this car for a year, but I have known it my whole life, it has never let anyone down, in my opinin, it is the most reliable car on the face of the planet, I would recommend a honda to anyone, Labor is expensive, but dealers tend to be, and parts are expensive, but you really don't have too much to fix on a honda, unless you really tear it up somehow. Similar Products Used: 1981 Toyota Starlet--much less space inside, but it ran like a top. Did have some problems, but the car was 18 years old, traded up for this car, and have had wonderful luck, toyota's and honda's are the most awesome cars on the planet |

Weakness:
no power low torque on both high and low end which dosn't help in races, road noise. i would love this car if it had at least 200 hp. don't like the low power but i would recommand it to parent who want to keep thier kids out of trouble. good cornering and great gas mileage which is a plus. worth the money Similar Products Used: 94 nissan 2000 ford explorer |

Civic EX sedan
Strength:
Rock-solid reliability, tough (especially with our piss-poor roads!), comfortable seats, handles well (even in snow), smooth automatic transmission, love that armrest console! (the new 2001's don't have it - STUPID!!!)
Weakness:
Acceleration will not pin you back in your seat, as the 127 HP VTEC isn't available in Canada unless you get the Acura 1.7 EL, bland styling (aren't all Japanese cars becoming "furniture"?) My EX sedan will run forever, if I'm willing to keep it and pay for the usual things like exhaust, CV joints, etc. With over 203,000 klicks, it feels like it can go another 200,000 kilometres, but why would anyone want to drive such an unexciting car for that long? I was hoping the seventh-generation Civic would improve on styling and power output, but was VERY disappointed. If I keep with the Honda nameplate, I'll have to move up to the Accord. I like the new Sentra if I can get the right combination of features without buying that overpriced "Touring Package" Nissan now sells for the XE and GXE - they don't seem to think that ABS is a desirable option! In general, I find that these "commuter" sedans are pretty blahsville, althought they are very reliable and won't spend much time in a garage, unlike many domestics. Similar Products Used: The new Sentra seems to be a MUCH better solution to the traditional, Japanese four-door sedan, as the new Civics are butt-ugly and still have a weak engine. The new Corollas don't do anything for me, either... |

Affordable,good construction,decent looks, roomy for a compact,good handling,and easy to modify.
Weakness:
gas mileage only good if you drive it like your granny would. Ashtray and cig lighter opt. I enjoy driving the car.I don't recommend the automatic, because the power doesn't get there until about 4000 rpm's.Roomier then other compacts. It has a smooth ride and crisp handling.Best bang for the buck. With a few modifications, it will feel like a sports car. Buy one, youll be shocked. Just make sure it is atleast an EX 5 spd! Good milage, reliable, good looks, great for racing, wont tare a hole in your pockets, You can hook this car up to the tip. I love it!
Weakness:
Wouldn't hurt for a little more power, Alot of wind noise, Easy target for thieves. (I just got my radio stolen) I love my Civic. Ok ok, Civic might not have all that much HP at all. Considering that it starts of at 106 HP, but if you want HP and speed throw on a Intake manifold, Exhaust, and some Headers and watch that Civic pull the pavement of the roads. My civic has about 150,000 miles and I am Still racing and pretty much beat every car that challenges me.(Except a Lincoln Continental... 250 HP v8, what do you expect?) The paint in my car is excellent after 150,000 miles you would expect some rust or decoloration but the paint is still there. If you're a young person with not much experience driving and looking for a fun to drive car, easy to hook up, little problems to deal with and very heavy duty to all that you put it through, A Civic is your car. Might take a couple of bucks to make it fast but its worth it. Just make sure you put a alarm on it and something to keep them haters out of your car! Honda Civic Coupe Si
Strength:
Very smooth shifting, no effort to go thru the gears. Lots of room for driver and passengers, even in the back (removed hump in the floor to free up more room). Smooth ride, quiet ride with little road noise at high speeds. Huge trunk with fold down rear seat.
Weakness:
Low hp. Engine too quiet (for those who really like driving, like me, more engine noise is often a good thing). Redesigned dash looks overly large, and the weird slant looks awkward. Back end looks way too similar to the Ford Focus. Car length too long, resulting look not worth the extra room in the back seat and takes away from the sportiness that previos years models had. The ride seems higher, which takes away from the sportyness and adds to the family sedan/minivan kinda feel. I'm really disapointed with how the redesigned 2001 Civic looks, and really miss the look of the previous 6 or 7 years. The engine took a huge reduction in hp from last year, dropping from 160 hp VTEC to 127 hp VTEC (which is probably why its only labeled as an EX in the states). Similar Products Used: Other car is a 2000 Ford Mustang, so in comparison to that the Civic feels like a go-kart. The Civic is inferior in torque, hp, handling, looks, everything except leg room in the back seat, but then, when you want a sporty car, you get it to drive, not sit in the back seat. |

Strength:
Good looking car. Cheap on gas. reliable.
Weakness:
Very ordinary handling (Jetta better), very popular with thieves, no power - I had my ass kicked by a Ford Focus wagon last week. I thought it was me but I rally race an old Mazda and have no trouble getting the power down in it. The Honda is just sluggish. I have just sold my wimpy Civic and am glad it's gone. Thinking of replacing it with a new Sentra or an Impreza "REX" when it's released in Canada. My car was broken into twice and stolen once. I don't need the hassle for such an average car. With all the hype about this car I expected a bit more. I won't be recommending it to friends. Similar Products Used: VW Jetta, Ford Focus, Nissan Sentra, Subaru RS 2.5. |

GAS MILEAGE!! I got 48mpg on my last fill up and that's with 133,000 on the clock! Split rear hatch- I've had 10 foot 2x4's hanging out the back of this car! It'll haul almost as much as a minivan.
Weakness:
No clock, cruise, rear wiper, power windows. Hey, if I'd wanted all that I'd have bought an EX. Nobody believes this but I once got 70mpg on the highway. I love this car and will drive right into car heaven. I love the look on people's faces when they see me get out of a Civic. I'm 6-8 and this car has more room than most cars twice its size. The car still has the original rear brakes! I've only had to have it towed once and that was at about 110,000 when the ignition system needed some work I couldn't do myself ($180 later and everything has been fine since). I do the majority of the work on the car myself (even the timing belt) because its just so darn easy to work on. Okay I'll quit now. If you're looking for a cheap used car for a teenage maniac to drive this is it. Not too much power but enough to get you out in traffic.
